Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Up to last night UK time I was able to login to FSDreamteam's forum. But this morning all I get is a message saying I'm banned. Does anyone know what's going on? Have they been hacked? There's no message on their main website. UPDATE: I've found their Facebook page and have sent them a message. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.

Looking at airports on Simmarket, some 10 year old sceneries are still the full price. it would be nice if they reduced the price as it got older.

Hi, I'm going through a bit of a dry spell and can't find anything in simming to motivate me, I wondered how you guys flying for Virtual Airlines keep flying the same routes over and over. Why? And how? I have a full cockpit build of a GA plane and have flown lots of UK airfields, and overseas bush airstrips. I think my pace is slackening, I might have 'mastered' those flights and maybe getting bored with the easiness of them. I've flown airliners, helicopters... Cold War jets ... how do you keep doing the same type of flying, but keep it interesting or challenging? Thanks! Paul

  7. Interesting New York Times article about shoddy production on the 787 Dreamliner: "Workers at a 787 Dreamliner plant in South Carolina have complained of defective manufacturing, debris left on planes and pressure to not report violations." https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/20/business/boeing-dreamliner-production-problems.html

While browsing one of my 'hobby' web forums, I ran across this website that is a history of the development of the Australian Air Traffic Services from the earliest years: http://www.airwaysmuseum.com/Index air traffic services.htm There are a number of fascinating photos, videos and other articles that together are quite fascinating!

Can anyone tell me if its possible to see the exact routing used on arrived flights in Flightaware? I'm trying to see what SIDS & STARS were used. I'm sure I used to get the info from there, but don't see it now. Been a while since i used it.

  14. This morning I went to Sim Outhouse to find a repaint for my Cessna 310B (a favorite). I have the U3A Blue Canoe and I am not fond of the yellow Songbird. I found a nice repaint in dark and light blue. I am amazed at all the available aircraft and repaints stored at SOH. Must range in the thousands including the repaints and skins. I got to wondering how many addon aircraft do you have for your simulators? I run P3Dv4 for scenery and P3Dv3 for collecting aircraft. I feel that among the collectors I might be at the low end with 65. But it continues to grow as new FSX and P3D aircraft of interest to me become available. How many do you have? Noel

Hey been a bit bored lately flying with the Eurofighter, was wondering if someone with Tacpack wanted to fly together or even fight each other on JoinFS. I'm in the UK and fly on P3D v4. We can speak on Teamspeak or any client for that matter. 😀 Bill Khaled

That's my new personal magic word I made up this morning. I called my mail order pharmacy to check on a prescription for my glaucoma eyedrops. The female voice said it recognized my phone number and to give them my birthdate. That I did. Then came the long spiel on how important my privacy is to them. Next the ladders imbedded in ladders began. I kept pressing '0' to talk to a human being but that doesn't work anymore, at least not with this company. So I hung up and tried again. After the privacy speech and verifying my identity the ladders began again. For the first one I said, "MIWAZIGLIB." The voice came back and told me that was not a valid res…

Has anyone heard anything recent about PC Aviator? In early December, I purchased the upgrade for Drzewiecki Designs Seattle Airports X so I could finally get KSEA. Something went wrong with the order process, as I was never directed to the order confirmation screen. However, shortly afterward, I received a confirmation email with my download link, and the charge appeared on my credit card. However, the link was broken, and kept redirecting me back to their home page. I have emailed them several times about this, with the only response being an automated, "we'll get to you as soon as possible" email. I've tried calling the number on their website, but it just rings …

I'm not an author. I love reading, but used to hate writing essays in school. This kind of came out of nowhere. I've not felt inspired to write anything like it since. I'd had the well-used phrase "climbs like a homesick angel" running around in my head when I felt inspired to write this story. More inspiration came from my enjoyment of science fiction, and a great Japanese anime movie Yukikaze. I don't know how large I can make a post here on AVSIM. If needs be I'll split it up. The story is only a few pages of A4. Here goes. Hope you like it: Flight The muted growl of a generator coming to life is her alarm clock. She begins to wake from her slumb…

For those that are interested in the "Recent Posts" block that used to reside on the right hand column of the Forums home page, it is now on the Front Page of the Avsim site. Whether it comes back to the forums page or not, I don't know at this time. We'll keep this thread open for updates.
