Saw this on all the various tech blog today, and of course thought immediately thought of our favourite flightsims. I see that Google sent the development guides to 100 studios....think any of them could be LM or LR? Seems to me there is a sizable market for new users who don't know or want to simulate VNAV approaches, but just want to fly around for fun. If there is some sort of "port" for standard Windows type games, I can see a huge new market for cross platform and even cell phone screens without the limitations of Android/IOS. Think we'll see P3D on a linux machine running through a browser in our lifetime?

  4. How does one determine what runway a plane should depart and arrive from? What are the wind conditions that need to be met? How fast does the windspeed need to be before it is considered too much. For example, what is the speed range for calm winds? is it between 0-6kts? I will use RJAA in this example. Please reference the chart I have attached below. I know when landing it is preferred to fly into the wind as it will slow the plane down and you can have better control when landing and also the same goes for departure as you want to take off against the wind to produce lift to the wings. But what if there's crosswinds (not blowing in front of or behind but to the sides). …

Looking at SimMarket lately, where repaint packs of 4 liveries for payware aircraft are selling for no less than €16.20 (about $20!), makes me realise how lucky we are to have many repainters out there who still are willing to give their time and their talent to the community by producing excellent repaints for us as freeware. These repaint artists and all those who continue to develop flight simulator freeware deserve our ongoing appreciation and thanks! Bill

I want an FA/18 or F-16 for P3DV4 that has a simple startup procedure. Just press ctl+e and go. I don't want to spend half my time searching for a dozen switches in the cockpit to get the thing started. Noel

I have often been curious about member's preferences for simming missions, meaning do they fly commercial pax aircraft, or cargo aircraft, GA or Microlights, Bizjets, etc? I mainly fly Microlight missions if I want a short sim session to practice training for real flight lessons, my primary sim purpose. But I also enjoy niche missions, especially in Xplane which I feel better models rotorcraft than P3D, I have a Gyro for it by VSkylabs that flies wonderfully like a gyro from the Pireps I have read by real life Gyro pilots, which proves to me that blade theory is a great way to model flight dynamics. But I do not bash the MSFS/P3D flight model, for I have proven wit…

Does anyone know where I can go to find information for a particular airport that will tell me the following details: Runway usage depending on the time of day Runway usage depending on wind Runway usage depending on arrival or departure The type of aircrafts/planes that will be allowed on a particular runway I can't seem to find any info on this.

I mainly fly planes that I think, if I ever did fly, this is what I would want to own and would fly. I see a lotof people talking about airliners. What do most of you fly "most" of the time. Mainly big birds, or general aviation? Do you use ATC at all, you use the FSX built-in ATC or do you use live ATC (VATSIM, etc). How many of you fly as close to real life as possible and if so, what do you do to make it as so. Please indicate if you actually have a pilot's license (real one, not virtual wink-wink LOL). Myself, I am currently flying touch-n-goes in a Carenado Cessna C182 and casual flying in a Carenado DA62. I fly as close to what I think is possible. I am not a p…

................... Ok, Gotcha, my thread is bait and switch, just wanted someone to open it while I chill to Steely Dan live, great simming muzak.... Once again someone has posted about new payware, this time the Xplane11 Vskylabs Icon A5 while I wait for Carenado to release its P3DV4 Embraer.... My sim hobby is obviously the biggest entertainment investment I ever made in my life, but it launched my career. In '84 while I was flying to London I read a US News and World Report article, or maybe it was Time, that said MSFS/Sublogic FS were the biggest selling software titles in the world, even outselling popular spreadsheet products at the time. Spurred me t…

Colorado is expected to get hammered by "Winter Storm Ulmer", a "Bomb Cyclone", tomorrow. Ulmer is expected to be an area of low pressure that will drop 24 to 30 millibars in less than 24 hours resulting in very high winds. Ulmer is expected to set a new record for an area of low pressure in Colorado. I just bought/installed Active Sky for P3Dv4 this past weekend and thought it might be a fun challenge to fly in eastern Colorado during the storm.

  16. FS Pilot Shop send me an email about them having a Summer Sale. I went there and dithered for a while and bought an aircraft for 50% off Friday night with the intention of thinking about a couple of others. Logged on Saturday to be greeted with Error 403 Forbidden, same result today. Are others having this problem? Is it a FSPS side problem or something wrong on my end? If on my end, any suggestions to fix it? Thx

  19. Those of you who, like me, have an interest in classic propliners might like to know that the fourth edition of the Propliner Annual will go on sale on April 15th. This annual is basically a reincarnation of the wonderful Propliner magazine founded by the late Stephen Piercey in 1979 and full of interesting articles and great photos of classic piston and turboprop airliners. Sadly publication of this quarterly ceased a few years ago but interest amongst the Propliner enthusiast community lead to it living on in the form of an excellent annual publication which I am pleased to see has grown again in size this year. Further details for anyone interested and a link to their …

The man behind this venture was my biggest brother and backer during my mid career, a reference and champ in teaching me his non micro management style of team leadership, he just would let me go out on my business systems teaching trips in the tourism industry and let me go. I actually must admit at first I resented him becoming my boss, I wanted his job and had I been off the road I might have gotten it, you have to be around people who are your equals or better because promotions in his league are as much about politics as skills. But he did me a huge, huge favor as no other man has in my life by taking a position I would have never been happy in, as CIO of our …

Just bought Tracir5 a month ago and still working on getting use to it. I have been watching with interest the new EZdoc V3 for the seemingly new and realistic dynamic head shake. I currently use OPUS FSI with Trackir5 but the new dynamic head movement especially with turbulence effects in conjunction with Active Sky offered by EZdoc V3 looks like something I want. Does anyone use the new EZdoc V3 with Tracir5 and if so do they play well together?

Evening, Not sure if anyone knows this one. There are two runways at Adak, AK (PADK). 36/18 and 25/7. Navigraph charts show that 36/18 is a dirt runway with no info on it. Google Earth shows two paved runways with both appearing active. Flightaware shows two runways, but only lists stats for 25/07. It looks like PADK used to be a naval air station, but is only civilian now. It still has weekly passenger service from Anchorage. Does anyone know the status of 36/18? FSX atc still uses it. Should I turn it off with ADE? thanks, colin
