Hi all, i compile the flight planning for Bluegrass Virtual Airlines. Each year we hold an event called The Great Australian Air Race (GAAR) each February some may know or heard of this. Thiis coming September we are planning a rally flying from England to Australia to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first England to Australia won by pilot Ross Smith flying a Vickers Vimy. Our rally will be following the route or as close as we can using today's airports of the Vimy. During August, flight plans will be made available for perusal, with a short timed test flight in your chosen aircraft and registration, more information on this at a later date. …

I will not be posting for a while. Last night while in a crosswalk at the green cross light, I was run over by an SUV. Two of its tires went over me and I hit the back of my head on its transmission, and I was thrown about 15 feet. Wonderful civilian first responders were there in the blink of an eye, they told me I was in shock and not to move until help arrived, first the police in seconds, then the paramedics who rushed me to the hospital with sirens blaring. I was first run over on my back but then instinct kicked in and I rolled on my stomach, the way I was taught when I was studying martial arts way back in high school, which is the only use I ever had for my t…

Hi guys, been getting bored of the same old same old in flightsim and wanna challenge myself. So I've come here with the hope that you guys would suggest some cool scenic routes or challenging approaches to fly. Flight can be any length, anywhere on the planet. P.S if you could include the airline and aircraft that flies said flight that would be great. Thanks.👍

In order for me to work with flight models in MSFS/P3D, or to create landclass assistant for the same series, or to make my free downloadable programs MirrorArt and Spirapaint, I had to be comfortable in my own skin with my high school and college math courses, which ended in trig with my becoming a calculus tutor. Essentially programming, whether for word processing, databases, flight sims or spreadsheets, stripped to its beauty is a set of functions and basic mathematics. One thing I could never achieve with the common programming languages, at least the free ones I use like MS Visual Studio, and GFA basic, was real precision mathematics. Programming language…

As a husband I hated my wife's employer forcing her to wear makeup to look good in administrative meetings for her school system and work in education. I felt it sexist and exploitative and it was for me, the true glass ceiling, telling a woman what they had to put on their body to have the "look" men wanted in the workplace. And since I have a daughter, I do not want to see her future that way either. as a friend said: God (our parents) all made us equally different. Some parents supported this, some just wanted to get rich at women's expense. Kudos to Virgin for this. This applies to men too, to be completely fair and neutral, until recent retirement I worked in a …

PMDG has announced they have set up Official Forums at the PMDG website. AVSIM policy (created by the late owner) was that AVSIM would host official support forums for any developer for no cost. Developers could then advertise within their forums and moderate their respective forums until they set up their own forums on another website or on their personal website. Now that PMDG has announced their move to the PMDG website, AVSIM will now move the forums to the User-to-User Support section of AVSIM and the AVSIM moderators will take over moderation of these forums. The major change will be that the PMDG Rules for posting on AVSIM will now end and members posting quest…

Tonight at work we had Thomas Cook request if they could divert a flight to us at Manchester from Banjul-Yundum which was bound for Birmingham, owing to low fuel, but it is actually further to us at Manchester. We've been scratching our heads trying to figure that one out. Anyone got any ideas? It definitely isn't weather, nor fuel availability. What else could be a reason?

This has been bothering me for a long time. I have my resolution set at 1960x1080. My monitor is capable of 2560x1440. But at that resolution these tired old eyes cannot read the airport IDs on the GPS. Every time I load my flight simulator I get this..ding dong, You will get better quality by setting your resolution to 2560x1440. Yeah, if you are some young 24 year old stud with perfect 20/20 vision. How do I turn off that notice? I turn off the sound when load one of my simulators so I don't hear the ding-dong but I would like to get rid of the damned thing altogether. Noel

Orbx seems to have fixed their Orlando Cityscape scenery. It took only 4 minutes to install this morning. The flight across the city and back from Orlando IAP was pretty amazing even with the reduced scenery items. I flew in my Quest Kodiak at 2,000 ft and with my scenery settings averaged 14 to 19 FPS with minimal skips and no hesitations. Granted my scenery settings are set for performance as opposed to super detail but it was a vast improvement over the last time I tried it with the original release. Noel

I finally saw the movie "First Man". I usually do not enjoy aviation autobiography's because we all know the story anyway, but I enjoyed the movie. It touches on the X15 which was shrouded in secrecy. It is cool that Xplane11 has one to fly, my desktop wallpaper is from an Xplane11 flight I took to space with it. The movie shows the problems that hard 24x7 work causes to marriage, like my road warrior work did to mine, fatally destroying it sad to say, work can kill relationships in a work world that demands loyalty to the job first, family second and God last. Back to the movie, I felt it was well acted, anything with Ryan Gosling in it is, like his work in "Fractur…

I'm just curious if anyone has been experiencing extremely slow downloads from SimMarket lately. I contacted there support and was told it was my ISP was problem. I informed them that 4 other users I fly with also report the same slowness. Each one of them is on a different ISP in the US so I don't think it's just my ISP. Before, I use to download from them super fast but now there download service is at a crawl. I use ATT 1Ghz Fiber and I get around 700 Mbs everywhere but on SimMarket downloads.

P3d and no doubt fsx also... Check out the ne corner of Washington State, for some awesome ga vfr flying. In specific, try flying Colville (63S) to Ferry co airport (R49). There are nearly no radio aids. Its mountainous wilderness, so having a good sectional, and following what few roads exist, is the surest way. Just flew it in a 172 and had a ton of fun.

This link is of interest and I can't confirm whether it is a scam or not but it is awfully convincing. If anyone has some input here on this that would be great. Minimum payment is $20 Cdn which is better than a kick in the caboose. Claims for the class action suit have to be filed my March 01st. Have a read if it interests you. Dave

Some general aviation aircraft have attitude indicators or artificial horizons that are adjustable where you can move the little icon that represents the airplane up or down. In Carenado's Seneca ii the little icon is fixed to where it can't be adjusted...it might be called a sky pointer. I've seen these in other aircraft too. Sitting on the ground it has close to a 5 degree pitch up attitude so I'm wondering how this works. How does this relate to straight and level flight and can it be adjusted?
