  1. Hearing this through the grapevine that a GCA drop-in package will be released for Manfred's C-47, both FSX and P3D. Nice to have a ground controlled approach in the heavy fog conditions😱

I just downloaded a POH for the Piper Seminole PA44 180T and was looking through the "Performance Section" to get some numbers to go by to use for a test flight....for X Plane and I'm in a learning process here. In this section they have some tables with different RPM and Manifold pressure settings for different altitudes. As you get to the higher altitudes say from 14,000ft up to the 20,000ft. ceiling limit there's a lot of RPM and MP settings left blank...there might be some RPM settings but no MP settings or vise versa and I'm wondering why that is. from what I understand the turbo version of the Seminole ceiling is around 20,000ft. but many of the settings above 14,00…

Ignoring the politics of the story, even the least aviation-aware people in society can recognise that the UK Prime Minister will not be travelling to Brussels in a Spitfire! https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/bbc-brexit-gaffe-shows-theresa-may-travelling-to-brussels-in-world-war-2-plane/ar-BBSYGHf?ocid=mailsignout Awaits comments of 'Theresa May taking the war to the Europeans' from Brexiteers and 'Typical Brexiteers, always harking back to former glories' from Remainers... Here we are at the end of January and I am intrigued by the “January Deals” listed at the US store of PC Aviator. There are 13 developer/publisher listings (until a day or so ago, there were 12). Two are shown with no expiry date for the discounted price for the products in the listing. One has an expiry date of 5 February (the newly listed one) and another an expiry date of 31 January. However, the other nine have expiry dates well past – seven on 7 January, one on 15 January and one on 26 December (2018). Because this is not the first month in which I have seen this type of thing (but not to this extent) on that website, that got me to wondering whether the al…

Has anyone tried a flight into KORD with current temps at -65 to -75 degrees? I see many of the arrivals have been cancelled but not all so suspect it is possible. I would hate to be an airport worker on the outside today!

I have favorite panel that I have been using for years in both FSX and P3D. The only problem is there is one certain gauge that will not work. It's called davtron.gau and is a clock and thermometer that fits into the panel. Is it possible to make this gauge work? I have installed the gauge into the main gauge folder in P3D. Thanks. Bob G.

So I'm presently observing (and sim flying) this real-world flight from KORD to KMCI -- UAL1498, and I figure some of you may have some insight into these ops. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL1498/history/20190123/0157Z/KORD/KMCI There is a nasty snowstorm at KC tonight, and this aircraft got to approx Braymer VOR (the beginning of the BQS6 STAR in to KMCI) and began a holding pattern. After some time circling, it began heading *back* to Chicago (!), after having flown nearly all the way to Kansas City! MCI was really socked in (4:53 GMT, 1/23/2019 if you ever want to load that weather in ActiveSky), with low ceiling, .3 mi visibility, gusty winds…

We are now, with P3D 4.4 running a super version of the FS5 engine from olden days. A couple of points show why: 1) Bill Gates Luvs Flight Simulation 2) Bill Gates wanted to demonstrate why Windows was such a great OS 3) The Aces Team was brilliant 4) Current design goals were based on projected systems 5) The 'World' engine viability is validated by it's purchase by Lockheed Martin Cheers bs

For anyone familiar with the Orlando area, Orbx have released scenery for this in their City Scene series. This is a very nice addon for the area including much of the Disneyworld complex, the city itself and the International and Executive airports. Obviously an area such as this has the potential for a vast number of special point of interest addons but Orbx, clearly with a view to minimising resource impact, have have very cleverly created this scenery using POIs which they have classified into 4 levels of detail and accuracy (Levels 0-3). The most detailed hand made POIs (Level 3) are used for accurate depictions of some iconic structures in the area but are qui…

I was on a Northwest puddle jumper headed to Ottawa from Detroit so I could do some business systems training there. We tried to take off twice, but shortly before our turn each time icing was spotted by the aircraft behind our Mesaba Puddle Jumper under the Northwest flag, so we had to return to the gate to wait out a severe blizzard. We were made to wait on the aircraft for several hours in subzero temps because they did not want to clear us thru customs again, with no food, water, bathroom or heat on the aircraft. I was frozen into a little ball of human and finally all of us pax banded together and threatened the souls of the crew onboard, though the problem was re…

  19. If you fly Ryanair, or flew it a couple of times, how would you say their landings were? I've seen that the airline has reputation for making hard landings. I do, understand that there are many young pilots working for the airline, so don't bash me on that.

Hello, has anyone here ordered from Cockpit PHD before? I ordered last week and sent an email asking where the products shipped from and a lead time. Never received a reply. When I ordered it said I’d receive a confirmation and order tracking. Never received it. The only thing I received was a confirmation from Pay Pal regarding payment. It seem as if you hear more in more in this hobby of companies going out of business. I have Go Flight components, go on their website they are sold out of about everything. It’s been that way for quite sometime. The vendors they sell thru also have the same problems. Hopefully it’s just communication error.

We have discovered a possible issue with the AVSIM e-mail system. As you may know, when you send a PM or indicate you want to be notified about an activity on AVSIM, an e-mail is sent to your registered e-mail address. This may or may not be happening. For me, I have not received an e-mail since 7:09 AM this morning and this is definitely an indication there is a problem. We have about 15 new member registrations that are awaiting e-mail validation and the members have not validated their respective account yet after several hours. I have not seen this before and notified the AVSIM Tech and he is going to troubleshoot. Apologize for any inconvenience!

Hello everybody!! I would like to aks if someone could help me with the CRJs vspeeds. I am developing a very simple gauge for a simulator (not real simulation purpose) and i need to know the VSpeeds for the CRJs: CRJ700 V1, Vr and V2 at full load, flaps 8 and 20 CRJ900 V1, Vr and V2 at full load, flaps 8 and 20 CRJ1000 V1, Vr and V2 at full load, flaps 8 and 20 I know in real life it does not depends only on load, but this gauge is not for hardcore simulation purposes. I searched a lot around internet, but i cannot find a reliable source. Thanks for anyone could help!

Yahoo small business offers free website design and domain hosting. Since I have retired I am using it to help a ministry in Kenya with their work, and in one short day have given them an international face they can use. Yahoo small business might be able to help fledgling add-on developers. Although prior website design is helpful (I wrote my own in a text editor once), yahoo has tools that can help the free and small payware dev get a public facing page to start adding to the hobby at no cost. You have to use their domain but it is better than paying for your own, especially if your work is on a small scale or non profit. Any dime you can save will help our communi…
