Hall-effect sensors have been available for some time and their design makes them infinitely more reliable long term than potentiometers. I can understand in the cheap 'n cheeflul stuff like Saitek / Logitech they'll stick to pots and pretty poor quality ones at that. But by the time you're into spending several hundred pounds (PFC) then they should be mandatory. Why then do all the manufacturers I've checked with still use pots even on kit costing several hundred pounds? It seems a bizarre decision. Is it done for cost reasons or because hall-effect sensors are more difficult to build into a design? How expensive are they? Prohibitively it would seem if that's …

Hi, does it support real world weather and how does one navigate? Is it possible to load a flightplan? If so, which flightplanner are supported? I´m tempted to buy the Steam version, but i´m not a VR user. Is it still good and worth the money? Thanks and Merry Christmas!

All the major developers and retailers are having some kind of Christmas sale going on this weekend except for Hifi simulations Active Sky. They have always been in on holiday sales in the past but not this year? Bah humbug.... I was hoping to pickup Active Sky XP on a Xmas discount : ( Jefferson Davis

For me, it's an updated KORD. At this point, I don't really care who comes out with an update first! I check the forums every morning hoping for some news... What are you waiting for?

Number one on my list was "Flightplan". Although the aircraft cabin, like the A380 was cool, other features, like the hold and some of the verbiage, fell way short of being real. My favorite off phrase in the movie was "deboarding". Whoever wrote the script had never been on an aircraft, at least in the US, before--"deplaning" is all I ever heard on any airline, foreign or domestic, lol. Also the way the movie ended--I will leave it at that so as not to drop a spoiler in case someone has been buried with work and has never seen the movie. That said, I found the movie entertaining because it was fiction, and because it touched on one of my fav subjects, psychobabble, w…

I decided to start exploring Europe in my Kodiak. This afternoon I took the hour and twenty eight minute flight from Pula (LDPL) to Triengen LSPN. Taking off from Pula you start across the northern arm of the Adriatic Sea. I flew at 8500 feet. You are never out of sight of land. Venice off to the port is clearly visible as you cross the coast of Italy. Climb to 12,500 to cross the Alps. About 20 minutes out of Triengen you can start letting down. Trengen is not that easy to spot. I overflew it on my first approach and had to turn back to find it. Noel

So I've been taking a bit of a break from flight simming lately. Just kinda lost interest in it. I've spend hundreds on addons and I know it seems ridiculous to lose interest in such a hobby I've invested so much in. But that's just the way it is. Hopefully it's only temporary. Anyway, I was looking for a change, and I've noticed there are a lot of train sims on the market now. I'm what's the best way to start out on such a venture? Which sims offer the best options in terms of expansion? Obviously I don't want to make the mistake of investing a lot of money too early on, in case I realise it's not for me further down the line. I'm based in Ireland, so anythin…

In 1984 I was flying to Europe for a month long tour, like the tour I had last year it covered much of the continent and London was my first destination. I flew from SFO to JFK, we were two hours late taking off due to a traffic hold, I was worried I'd miss my flight but was assured I would not, as the outbound flight to London was also delayed for the same reason by two hours. So I landed at JFK, transferred terminals (seeing the beautiful TWA terminal in the process), and awaited my flight to London. It was the end of May, just before June 6th, the 40th anniversary of D-Day. As I waited in the waiting area to board my flight, I realized I was surrounded by veterans,…

Do I need to Register at both places? Thanks T45

Late in the summer of 2017 and after moving from FSX to P3Dv4 I bought the AS upgrade from FSPilotShop, and added Active Sky Cloud Art (ASCA). I enjoyed both in P3Dv4 (have been enjoying HiFi weather add-ons since at least FS9), and last week after installing P3Dv4.4 on my new computer build I tried downloading my purchases from FSPilotShop... all I got was a reactivation link for a charge of $4.95. When I bought the products there were 20 downloads, and I had used 1 for each product. I sent two Help Tickets to FSPilotShop over a week period but nothing but silence from them. A short while ago I contacted Hifi Simulations for assistance and Dave sent me links to ASCA …

I was randomly looking at FlightAware this evening, and came across two Fedex 747-400's flying KMEM to PHNL (here is a link to one of those flights) https://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX948 My first thought was, "oh, they're flying 747's again?", but a quick search revealed that they are leasing Atlas Air 747's during Decembers 2017, 18, 19 thru 2021. Thought it was interesting and a rare thing to see a Fedex 747 these days, even if it probably is in Atlas colors.

Well. we have another one! Honestly, rollout of TSW sceneries have been really anemic-seeming to me recently, with none of the pre-launch advertising prowess that DTG used to bring to the table. It makes me wonder how badly hurt they were by the failure of FSW. However! At least routes are forthcoming, and now another one has been rather quietly released. This time it's the Northern Trans-Pennine route (Huddersfield Line) built between Manchester Victoria and Leeds City, and as always, you can grab it from Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/577353/Train_Sim_World_Northern_TransPennine_Manchester__Leeds_Route_AddOn/ It was just released today, an…

Are there any 3rd party aircraft that simulate a flame out for extreme ice conditions or very heavy rainfall or from compressor stall/surge? I don't think any sim currently simulates ash (i.e. like our recent California wild fires) so I'll ignore that possibility. Cheers, Rob.

This does have an 'aviation' theme ?.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46421814 I can only marvel at the trouble that NYPD took on this - bloody marvelous... A very pleasant 'heartwarming' tale - with a brilliant ending. I can only guess at how she felt when she heard the ring drop....and although it is not revealed - it looks very expensive. Nice. Regards Bill

It is always a good sim day when I can enjoy the two sims that don't have CTD's, Xplane11 and P3DV4.4. I enjoyed two real time flights today, a 30 minute flight from SFO to Reno in the Carenado Citation 550 and a two hour plus flight from Vegas to Phoenix in the Xplane11 172. The scenery on both flights is varied, farmland, city and desert and mountains, I love flying to a destination with different scenery than where I took off, although Phoenix and Vegas resemble each other more than Frisco and Reno. In real life I always loved flying from Phoenix to Orlando, or the shorter Phoenix to Puerto Vallarta flight, due to the way the scenery goes from desert to tropica…
