  2. HI guys, this has not happened before and i cant figure out why! Started PP app and app opens but... the 'disconnect' word keeps flashing and it wont connect... in fact, it looks like something is looping as in trying to connect but wont.. PC then becomes unresponsive and not even control-Alt-delete opens to terminate the program..have to switch off the PC itself to get it to close.. So to troubleshoot, ive done the following.. 1. Uninstalled and reinstalled pimax play 2. Checked the connections and usb ports - all working fine... 3. Installed latest graphic card drivers... 4. Cleaned the registry of any redundant files for PP... Ne…

Just before Christmas I purchased a Quest 3, keen to try out MSFS in VR......on that front I can say that it was a failure. My copy of the Sim was a store bought version. It worked well on my PC. Sadly not so on a VR headset. The jerkiness and blurry instruments in the cockpit make it unusable. The minefield of settings is a disaster......PC settings, Nvidia settings, OCT, OTT, Link settings, in game settings. It's just too time consuming for me. Videos online offer such a wide variety of magic solutions, none of which work for me. Even on the lowest settings (on everything) the jerky cockpit makes me feel sick and I've crossed the north sea in November without the meres…

4090 vs 5090.....DLSS Quality, DLSS Performance, TAA..... these are all at full Pimax resolution. DLSS Q ( 2 AND 5): 5090 58.... 4090 37 DLSS P (1 AND 3): 5090 67... 4090 56 TAA (4 AND 6): 5090 37... 4090 26 (I only have a 4070. And so in VR I can't use TAA, I run DLSS P and get about 45 fps or so (full Pimax resolution). With gpu less than even my 4070, you would have to move the resolution slider in Pimax play down below full.

Has anyone tried MSFS2024 (or '20) in VR with the new AMD GPU? I have always heard Nvidia GPUs are better than AMD for VR. I am currently running a very unbalanced CPU/GPU combo (9800X3D & RTX2070s) so looking to upgrade my GPU. Using DLSS4, I actually get acceptable performance in VR flying the more simple aircraft, like A2A Comanche with mostly medium graphical settings. However, it would be nice to have a video card with more power and VRAM. Obviously, with the difficulty of finding a 4080/90 or 5080/90 at a reasonable price, I am looking at the more attainable AMD 9070 XT. Hopefully someone has tried it already and can give their opinion/review.

  7. EDIT: 16:30 It has no AMD GPU support. So this headset is for Nvidia GPU's only.

  8. A simple question i guess... when i fly the Fenix in VR, the click spots are always spot on... the FBW A380 for example makes me close one eye to get the mouse on the right spot! Would this be due to incorrect IPD settings or the way the aircraft is coded? Makes it quite frustrating to be honest... Any ideas guys? Cheers

  9. Great for shaky flights in turbulence and rough runways & landings. Keeps the view focused.

  10. ... to perform all you have dreamed to do from your VR cockpit. I was looking for such solution since I fly with a VR headset, more than 2 years ago now. With the fantastic OpenKneeboard free app (I took me some time to understand its power) + a simple AutoHotKey script, I'm able to: Read any set of Pdf documents (native Pdf, not bitmap converted) and navigate inside without latency Display any Desktop App, refreshed in real time Interact with your mouse with the Desktop app you display All this without leaving the VR cockpit, without performance impact, and with native headset crisp full resolution, like you can see with the OXRTK menu. …

  13. Hi Two of the most iconic 'between the wars' British biplanes that Aeroplane Heaven have just released. Anyone else tried them in VR? I've just loaded them in MSFS2020. While not 'study level' they are great fun...but I think AH, or MS, have got the VR camera config pilot position wrong. In 2D it's correct, but - for me - VR places the pilot sticking out of the aluminium cowling ahead of the cockpit and also to the right, with the RH M/C gun going through his torso. I've emailed Aeroplane Heaven about the problem, and with my best guess at what the correct XYZ positions should be, but of course it might only be me who has the issue. If you've bought th…

I have a Pimax Crystal Light but for about half the money, the Q3 is great. There is no FG in VR and so a series 4000 vid card is not necessary. This video he did is Q3 on a 3080 (not ti , not super). Predictably he isn't happy with TAA but settles for DLSS Quality. (I also use DLSS Quality on my PCL). The pancake lenses is giving him a sweet spot all across the screen (better than the lenses on the PCL). But he doesn't have the clarity, color, or contrast that comes with the PCL. But for not too much money the Q3 will do very well in MSFS 2024. Framerates and lack of stutters will not be an issue. The Q3 it seems to me, is a good way for anyone to try…

  15. I emailed the following to varjo support but maybe someone can help here since they are taking days/weeks to respond: I have narrowed this crash down some more and it is tied to the steam VR status window. I am able to recreate the crash by the following steps. 1.) start varjo base 2.) click steam vr under the tools menu in varjo base, wait for the little steam vr window to pop up 3.) start the flight and enter vr 4.) exit vr 5.) close the small steam VR window 6.) re-enter VR and the sim will crash. If I do the opposite, which is start the flight without clicking steam VR, sometimes the flight will crash when the small steam VR window open…

SimHangars brand new video. If we ignore the FG capabilities of the 5000 series, the raw rasterization numbers show the 4090 performs well above the 5080. There is no FG in VR, only SSW (Meta) or Upscale (Pimax). The red is the 4090 old generation

  17. In my eternal tinkering to get some decent performance, as we know we cant run the PCL at native resolution.. I reduce the resolution down to 80% at this stage in the OpenXR Toolkit..leaving it native in the PCL Software and in Sim My question is - is it better to reduce the resolution in PCL Software itself, in the Sim itself or keep it in the OpenXR Toolkit? I'm not entirely sure if it makes a difference or if one is better in some way than the other...has anybody found that it actually matters? Many thnaks Doug

ApacheComfort Strap. An adjustable right to left top strap that rides underneath the default front to back Pimax strap. I rate it A on my head. So does he: The Apache keeps steadies the headset, keeping it more still and not liable to move. ----------------- Back weights: I rate A+. There are two versions a pair of 2.5 oz. weights for 5 ounce total. Or a pair of 3.5 oz. weights for 7 Ounce total. I use both at the same time (4 weights): for total weight of 12 ounce. These tend to make the headset neutral or even back heavy. Which I love because it takes weight and pressure off of my nose. But I doubt very many people will like …

It's been out for five months but I still haven't seen anything about it with MSFS running on a PC. Does anyone have one or know of a review? I'm interested in how it compares in MSFS to the Quest 3.

  20. Tape over the 2 lower camera lens. No more tracking issues at all for me in any light! https://www.reddit.com/r/Pimax/comments/1f9y8kl/tracking_issues_with_crystal_light/?sort=old It was Emotional-Machine-40 message in the above thread that gave me the clue. Some soft velcro in the middle of the tape to prevent sticky mess on the glass lens covers seems a good idea to me. Those 2 lower cameras must be for Beat Saber or something. They do nothing that I can see in MSFS.

For instance on USA Amazon the Q3 is $499. And the Q3S is $299. I've never had either, but youtube has videos warning flightsimmers not to get the S version. Apparently it is a very weak product. I like my PCL, but if that product did not exist, I would own a Q3. The other good ones would almost as much as my whole computer did. My computer cost $1200, upgrade to 64GB was $97, cpu to 58003DX was $285, 4070 gpu was $555 = $2,137 including shipping and taxes. The computer for $1200 was IBuyPower. The 3 addons were Amazon USA.

I'll start off by saying I got this HMD cheap off Amazon for £170 as a replacement for my Reverb G2 as I cannot be faffed with the WMR Deprecation nonsense in a few months, not being able to afford one of the high end headsets this one coming down in price so much meant it was a bargain and too good an opportunity to pass up. After a few days of setting up, getting used to it and the way it works, looking at custom drivers & files and other tweaking stuff I set out on my first flight this afternoon. Initial impressions are very good, I had thought the hardened cushion would cause annoyances but as it turns out it was fairly comfortable in an hours long flight (my a…

  23. So I'm trying to decide between these cpu's for my new desktop pc later this year: AMD 9800X3D AMD 9950X3D Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Intel Core i9-14900K Should I settle on one of these or wait it out for something more promising that is known to be on the horizon? I'm in no rush to do it today but would like to build within the next 12 months. MSFS200 & 2024 VR (Quest 3 streaming via wifi) is a consideration here, as is other non-VR games. While I'd like to play games in 4K, I will also be playing some of the more demanding ones in 1440p. My choice of gpu will likely be either a 5080 or 5090 (currently on a 3080, so th…

  24. I just got a PymaxCrystalLight and will get a Quest3 tomorrow and will then decide which one to keep, coming from an HP Reverb G2. Quest 3 users: 1) is a link cable recommended for the Quest 3 for higher data rates over wireless connection? I don't plan to move around, will mostly be sitting in the VR cockpit, no golfing or Half life Alyx. 2) does the link cable actually transmit video data or is it only a battery charger? 3) I plan to also get the BOBOVR M3 Pro Strap with additional battery and a separate 5 meter link cable from Syntech or Cabletex to charge battery during game play. is that a good idea? I appreciate your tips and recommendatio…
