Is it just me or when we make changes in VR to the FS2024 menu, the settings are not being transferred to the to UserCFG.opt file? I just want to make sure it is a bug before reinstall the sim. In particular, traffic, fauna, grass, plants, rocks that I cannot completely disable it. Disable traffic at smaller airports is essential. There are times were an generic A380 or B777 completely blocks some taxiways. No matter how many times I change the settings in the menu, only the lines in 2D mode are being changed. In VR mode, none of them can be disable like these traffic, fauna, etc. options, even if they are set to OFF in the me…

After struggling a few nights flying VR in MSFS2024, I went back to MSFS2020 and man was it epic! With similar VR settings I got almost 50% more fps, and everything is smooth as silk, truly like a breath of fresh air. In MSFS2024 even when I'm getting close to 40fps, it just doesn't feel right, kind of fuzzy and, maybe, a lot of micro-jittery? I don't know what is exactly the difference, but in MSFS2020 even 35fps feels perfectly smooth. Although the lighting is definitely better in 2024, the ground scenery actually looks kind of better in 2020 from air. The trees in 2020 have enough subtle color variance spread out to look more natural than 2024 which looks li…

Anybody else seeing blurry autogen lights on the horizon, under the cloud decks? Closing one eye at a time reveals the problem. Autogen lights are visible in one eye and not the other. During the day I see some reflective blackish lines. Again, using the eye test again reveals the bug. I don't have these issues with VR in 2020.

In msfs2020, PCL got better performance (fps/stutters) than Q3. Just the opposite is true in 2024. Quality control and chance of getting a good example instead of a bad one is higher with Q3 than a Pimax product. PCL has a better image (snappier colors, higher resolution, better clarity, absence of mura) than Q3. PCL has a wide sweet spot. Q3 is even better thanks to pancake lenses. Both are reliable in connecting every time. The PCL being especially good in that regard. Q3 has a wider range of IPD adjustment. But PCL is wider than most others. Q3 requires a 3rd party strap and counter weight. But is then still 1/2 the cost of PCL. Both …

I haven't found anywhere on the internet yet, a detailed guide to the Pimax Play software...if one exists, then I would be very grateful for the link!! But in my original forays into the menus of Pimax Play, in the 'Advanced' page I noticed - but then promptly forgot they existed - Right and Left, Vertical and Horizontal IPD Offset sliders. Scroll forward to now, with correct VR image distance corrective lenses from VR Optician, and a clarity of VR view beyond my wildest dreams, I was aware that my left eye was often spot on but the right one not quite. If I moved my headset a touch to the left and right just a mm or so, I could get the same spot on focus in th…

Just wondering if there is some collection of resources or other guide somewhere that I've missed for setting up VR in 2020 or eventually 2024? I've never really played much with VR, but it was the whole reason I bought a headset a couple years ago (Quest 2 after a Reverb G2 wouldn't fit my face comfortably due to cutting into my nose's bridge). Now I'm super confused and overwhelmed about how to set up VR and get good performance between all the tools I keep hearing about from streamers like VR flightsim guy etc. I know there's the Occulus debug tool, but also OpenXR toolkit, autofps mod (or something like that), and I think there's 1-2 others I've forgott…

Hello everyone from Spain in my first post. I managed to install ReShade in Flight Simulator 2024 (Game Pass). It works perfectly in 3D mode, but it's ignored in VR mode. I installed it using DX12, and I also tried enabling the OpenXR option, but then it doesn’t work in 2D either. Any ideas? Thanks.

The image is not as good but... right around 4:00 he says performance is better in 2024 with Quest 3. In 2020 that probably was not true. The main take away is that VR works in 2024. Better hardware is more important than in 2020, at least a little bit. I have no trouble with Crystal Light and 4070 and 5800X3D.

Hi, Very recently I bought the Pimax Crystal Light. For my Flight Simulator, I use(d) 2 displays, one for 2D apps and one for rendering Flight Simulator. Question: When running FS in VR-mode, should I turn-off/disconnect my FS display? I noticed that my FS-display is displaying the 2 VR renderings. Does this impact performance? I hope my question make sense.

I've been using Pilot2ATC for most of this year - and they were right in their comprehensive support documentation that there is a heck of a learning curve!! Using Sky4Sim I got reasonable in-VR-cockpit access to the information, and the implementation of MSFS Simbrief Dispatch has made synchronising the aircraft flight plan with the Pilot2ATC plan easier. But - and it's a big but - only 50% of my flights, on average, were ever completely successful. And this was particularly at the final approach where I would battle with Pilot2ATC to get it to agree what flight level I should be at (the Navigraph charts should be a clue!) or the vectors would come so late and so…

It is so much better than MSFS 2020 in VR, especially in the cockpit. The light effect makes you really feel you are there. And the trees, grasses, clouds, rocks, water... looks much more real than MSFS 2020. I set ALVR Transcoding view Resolution to 1.2x, and emulated resolution to 1.3x. I think that's crazy high rendering resolution, but it runs quite smoothly with MSFS 2024 graphic qualtity options mostly set to middle, and use TAA 80%. I think the smoothness owes much to effective forveated rendering. My PC is 4090/13900K. Have any others tried MSFS 2024 wiith Vision Pro? Strongly recommend it if you also have a capable PC. And I'd really like to know about your ALVR …

When in walk around mode I couldn't for the life of me find out which binding opens doors, removes covers/chocks, moves ailerons etc when using the Xbox controller. Anyone know? I don't want to use the VR controller at all (unnecessary extra), even though that worked it doesn't work very well at all!

I have ALVR+Vision Pro worked perfectly with MSFS 2020, but it now shows "No headset is detected" when switching to VR with MSFS 2024. The combo is fine with other VR titles, and I have seen other people reporting success with ALVR + Vision Pro + MSFS 2024. I am going mad figuring it out. Can anyong shed any light on this? Thank you!

Can you see the MSFS 2024 clickable icon in the SteamVR room? I can see MSFS 2020 listed as one of my recent games in the Steam VR room but NOT MSFS 2024. I normally start MSFS 2020 through the SteamVR room. I'd like to do the same with MSFS 2024.

Guys, been trying to install the latest firmware for my new Crystal Light since yesterday. Firmware updater always stuck at 66.7% and the PC "freezes", mouse and keyboard dead. Needed to hard-reset the PC. Pimax support tried to help and suggested to use an older "Pimax Play" software and to disable the camera in Windows device manager. None of that helped. What helped was "patience" ... after about 35 minutes the update went through. So if anyone of you runs into the same problem, give it some time 😉

It may be a silly question, but as an HP Reverb G2 owner, does it make a difference whether I buy the Steam or Microsoft Store version of MSFS 2024? I know that WMR is being discontinued and that I will have to buy a new headset at some point. With that in mind, does one platform make more sense than the other?

With my 12700k /32gb ram/ and 4080 will I have to turn down settings if I use CL? I think the CL has higher res than the G2 if I'm not mistaken? Not sure if my system would handle a CL? Any thoughts?

To adhere fully to the forum rules, I didn't mention VR in my post in the main section: But in VR, it's even better!!!! Full simbrief flight planning and flight without having to lift your headset. Wonderful!! 😀

When he first registered his Q3 headset, he gave a false date of birth in order to protect his privacy. Much like Avsim users who use a handle instead of their legal name in this forum. When the guy needed to re-register for some reason, META asked his d.o.b. which he had forgotten. Now he has not been able to use his Quest 3 for the last 25 days. This problem was posted under this youtube video by imacmll an hour ago in the comments on Youtube under this video which also appeared about an hour ago. The video doesn't discuss this, it's in the comments.
