Sorry for slight OT but I wouldn't know where else to ask for a comparison of VR experience OT the 2 sims. I tried MSFS with Qest 2 and was not impressed by the performance which is related to my hardware (GTX 1080) Now I've read that Aerofly is said to have a very good VR experience and performance (on cost of visual quality of course). Besides Aerofly features helicopters. Maybe someone owns both and could tell his VR experience for the two? Thank you!

I'm seriously considering buying the Quest 2 for VR in the sim. But I have a question for you guys with experience: If my use for the Quest 2 is solely for the sim, does it matter whether I buy the 64 or 256 gig version? I know there are advantages if a person is planning to download a lot of games and files, but will MSFS run identically on the 64 and 256 gig versions? Also, I own the original Oculus Rift from years ago. Is there a significant difference in the graphics quality between the Quest 2 and the original Rift? Thanks for your input.

So in Australia HP has the G2 at $AUS1099 and the G1 at $AUS599 . Both are available even cheaper elsewhere of course but the point is the price ratio of almost double for the G2 . Without a doubt the G2 is better .. but is it twice the price (more or less) better ? Or are there better options for MSFS altogether?

Is it just me or has the VFR map behavior changed? I have a distinct memory of opening the VFR map in VR and grabbing the title bar with the mouse and moving it down onto the co-pilot seat. I thought "great just like a paper chart". I was able to get focus with the mouse and zoom and pan the map. Now I can not move it at all. It is stuck in the center of the FOV Maybe it was all a dream!

I have recently acquired a Rift S and absolutely love it. I'm wondering about how my 4K monitor might affect the performance however. Does it matter what monitor you have when using VR re. performance? Cheers.

I have my first VR. Oculus Rift S. I've been using it for about 2 weeks. I like the immersion factor. I recognize the visual quality difference from using a monitor. I have the Honeycomb yoke. This week I will be receiving the Honeycomb throttle. I think it would be totally impossible to take advantage of all the features in the throttle using VR. I would appreciate all your opinions on this topic. Thank You. Bill McCracken

I've tried the Rift S and the Quest 2 (via Link). In both cases, MSFS says "Error: headset not detected" when I try to switch to VR mode. Anyone else got this working with an Oculus HMD?

I Just recieved my G2 and I'm trying to optimize it for MSFS. I'm switching from Rift S. I have noticed a difference between these two headsets, and I'm not sure it should be like that, or if I have messed something up. For Rift: When I put the headset on it would start the oculus home and start the displays inside, and when I took it off, it shut down the displays. For G2: When I put the headset on it turns on the WMR home and turn the displays inside on. But when I take the headset off the displays inside stay on. Should it be like this? How is it for the other of you using G2, does it turn of the displays when you take it off?

I switched from Oculus Rift to my new Reverb G2. The visuals are stunning (although the GTX 1080Ti is running flat out to get 20 FPS). I wanted to switch back to the Rift until the prescription inserts for the G2 arrive so I don't scratch up those brand new lenses. However MSFS now complains "No headset detected" while other VR apps are quite happy with the reinstalled Rift.😕 I don't know if MSFS has configured itself for WMR or WMR has claimed MSFS. Annoying in either case. I have not tried uninstalling WMR, but that seems like a rather drastic approach just to just switch VR devices.

Hi there, So far flying with the Oculus VR is a very interesting and exciting experience, however I can't seem to get the right settings for a crisp and smooth view. My PC hardware is pretty good: Intel i9 processor, 64GB RAM, AMD 5700 XT graphics card, NVME drive. I've tried different modes of 72, 80 and 90 Hz with render of 1.0 - 1.3 - 1.4 and I can't seem to find the right combination... Appreciate your thoughts. SIm_Flyers

ENGLISH Translation: If you own Microsoft …

Just a heads up - I've been using a G2 for the last few days and it's been working flawlessly using the USB ports that run from the mother board to the case front ports (not the MB's built-in rear ports). I have a Oculus Rift S. I've been trying for days. I can't switch FS2020 into VR mode (Ctrl + Tab). I think I've watched every video. Read numerous posts. And still all I see in the head set is the 2d cockpit display. I can't believe this is that difficult. I know I must of missed something. VR works fine outside of FS2020. So what have I missed? Thank You. Bill McCracken

I am new to the VR world so if anyone here would be kind to explain how to set up the Pimax Vision 8K X with the MSFS 2020 would be most appreciated. My first question is, do I need base stations or just the glasses will work? I have the DP plugged into DP on the RTX 3090 Hybrid FTW3 but the only thing I see is a out of space landscape, I have tried to press the Cntrl + TAB in MSFS 2020 but nothing happens. I have install the pitool and it detect just fine but windows doesn't see any other displays except the USB display I use to see the desktop. Any suggestion? thanks

  18. Started by Paul_Yorks,

I am a long-time simmer, but recent VR convert. Love the immersion, and for GA/VFR flying it's all good. But I also like flight planning and procedures and the like, and I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts about the best way to do that, right now, in a VR environment. I'm thinking probably that it makes sense to do everything up front in 2d, then move to VR on the runway. Until we have an Avitab-alike for MSFS, I am not sure we can do much else - since as far as I know external windows won't show in VR. Any thoughts or tips about how to integrate procedural simming with VR, much appreciated.

Hey all, so I've been loving FS2020 since it's launched. When I run it on my index, I get terrible frame rates that don't seem to change much. my computer is a rtx2080 super 8700k 32gb ram. Vr in general runs great - aka my sim racing games. But Even when I turn everything off or on low - including downscaling to 40% and AA off - I get 30-40fps. If I turn scaling up to 80% and AA onto the highest setting, I get 40fps, sometimes up to 45. And it's SUPER choppy. Obviously there's a bottleneck somewhere going on - but has anyone else experienced this? My computer temps are fine btw.

  20. 1. Disable crashing in Options -> Assistance 2. Start the Icon A5 somewhere in the vicinity of Paris 3. Drive the A5 like a car with moderate speed into the city centre or land it in the park in front of the tower 4. Park the A5 under the tower 5. Use the up/down/left/right/forward/ backward keys to navigate in 3D space and to slowly 'climb' the tower Wow, what a sim this is!

Hello, I do not know if the problem has already been discussed. But I have jerks since the last update. I have around 27 FPS, have tried the without content in the community folder have tried the Nvidia driver 452.06. However, everything without success. I use the 1080ti as well as the G1, I'm running out of ideas 😞

  23. I currently use the CV1 with a rather underpowered PC (i5 6600 + GTX1060) - and it works pretty well (apart from the inevitable screen door effect). However I’ve been hearing some very good things about the Rift S lately and am wondering whether it would be worth spending a bit of money and upgrading just the headset. Would my computer cope or would the performance hit make it not worthwhile? There wouldn’t be much point if I could only get it running by reducing settings - particularly the settings that affect image quality. Of course the ultimate answer is probably to spend a bit of money on the PC too - and I might be able to do that on the cheap because don’t thi…

  24. The glass cockpit planes seems to draw the very most performance in VR. Whatever gpu setting I choose, non of it is giving me so much performance than just fly with an non glass cockpit plane. Taking f.e. one of the Robins or C152 i can put everything on high and fligh 500 feets over New York and its absolutely smooth. If I take the TBM or Cessna 172S its even stuttering over smaller cities. Although it seems to be ok with an glass cockpit plane if I fly over 20k feet, so longer flights with the Beechcraft, TBM or even Airbus are doable in higher flight levels, but on landing it will stutter. I think there is something fundamentally wrong in the way the glass …

Ultra limits but good gear..... SO FRUSTRATING I WISH THEY WOULD ADRESS THE ISSUE
