In an attempt to try and reduce the random VR stutter / pauses in my games (using 20h2), I've installed the sim (and other games) on another drive with 1909 and most of the stutters have gone, along with small improvement in FPS. As soon as I update it to 2004 / 20h2 they return. All GPU driver versions are fairly stutterless on 2019. Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2, Star Wars Squadrons are all a little better.

When I am in FS2020 I can with Alt-Tab go to other programs windows. But when I go in VR, and than to pancake mode again, I cannot get other windows in sight anymore. Moreover: when I want to save a flight, it gets stuck in the Save menu. I just discovered with Alt-Tab that a File Explorer window opens to choose where to save, but I cannot get in that window: as soon as I try it closes and I am stuck with the FS2020 Save Menu. And after quitting FS2020, and restart of FS2020 flightsimulator wants to update FS2020 with the VR update..... which I already had installed and was using!!?!?!? I checked the \appdata\roaming\FS etc \packkages folder and it contains 110G…

  4. Hi, I have a Reverb G2, RX 6080 XT graphics card with newest drivers, and Ryzen9 5900 processor, 32GB M.2 RAM, PCIe4. Even with most settings low to medium, OpenXR to 70% with reprojection off I get constant stutters. When I pivot my head it is ok-ish, but when I move my head sideways or up/down the stutters are really bad. Even when the game is paused, the stutters are just as bad. A couple of times when looking at the left door tracking just stops, and then the game crashes. I get some message from AMD about "Driver timeout". Very disappointing to have used 4000$ on various gear just to play mostly this sim, and have it perform like this. Any help would be appreciated. …

  6. I have been a fan of flight sim VR ever since the FlyInside plugin for FSX in 2016. I really enjoy the view of the scenery in VR, along with the situation awareness, and the sense of "being there". But today I experience another kind of astounding moment in VR. It's deeper, stronger, and more impactful. It's when I was in the A320 cockpit. I have always been a GA guy, knowing and doing very little airliners for fear of the complexity, but now I am determined to take pains learning them. In VR it's so ... I don't know how to put it and I can just say I was totally in awe. The mystery and the sense of sublimity of being in the giant airliner cockpit in VR is simply incredib…

  7. Which of the 2 produces better results? For me SteamVR has better quality (smoothness and less artifacts (flashes microstutters and texture wobble) but needs really to be cranked down to something like 1400X1400 px resolution (RTX 3070) Do you know where resides the actual resolution that MSFS is taking from when calculating rendering percentage? I've managed to incorporate FS into Steam by UWPHook and have a "per application" setting available in VR settings. No matter which resolution I set there FS is picking something else as starting point.

Hi everyone, so I got VR working on my Oculus Rift S. The left side is perfect, but the right eye is black on the side. If I move my head I can see, but the black is always there? This isn't that weird black square that is hollow in the middle, I had that and got it fixed. This is like there is a blinder on my right eye.

Hello. So, I think I’ve almost won a HP G2 on eBay at a reasonable price. My questions are as follows:- 1.) I have lots of hardware, like yoke, throttles, g1000 controls etc. Does the G2 have flaps near the eyes or something like that so that I can still operate this hardware? IE so that I don’t have to use it ‘blind’. That would be ok for the yoke I suppose, but turning knobs and selecting right screens could be a problem? 2.) Is it light on the head? 3.) what is ‘pancake’, ‘sweetspot’ and ‘door’? Sorry if any of that sounds amateurish, however I’m completely virgin to all of this!

Based on all the posts, looks like VR is not ready for MSFS? I was going to get a VR headset today but I am having second thought about it given all the issues with frames and all the rest. I have the latest hardware but will it be enough? What say you? Before spending 500-600 dollars I would like to get your input.

Thanks to all of the posts that got me up and running. Everything seems to be working great except audio. I can hear ATC from the Oculus but no engine noise. I checked the sound sliders in the sim and they’re all 100%. Anyone else run into this? Any ideas? PS: audio is fine if VR mode is toggled off. Thanks, Mark

  12. Once in a while you have those moments in a flightsim where everything works as it should. The hardware is not acting up, performance is fine, you find your personal sweetspot of settings and then you hop into VR, like you have done for hundreds of times in P3D. But then, despite all its state as work in progress, MSFS shows its potential and delivers: Magic. And that is what happened to me just now. I jumped into the Bonanza picked Talkeetna, Alaska as my starting point and Lime Village via Purkeypile as my Flightplan, picked live weather and real time fired up the sim and hopped into VR. And the stars aligned. The rising sun had not quite reached the…

I use a Rift S, so OpenXR is preinstalled (I read somewhere). I installed OpenXR dev toolkit for XR where I have the option to enable/disable Reprojection. But: in the start menu of this toolkit I read WMR runtime is installed but it is not the active OpenXR-runtime. Of course I use the regedit to change the setting but then in FS it says No headset detected. Am I doing wrong something?

  14. Oculus Rift on Windows 10. I get as far as "switch to VR mode" in the options menu and then MSFS throws me into an unskippable "press the [vr centre view] key" menu prompt. The key isn't mapped - and the only escape is to reboot the PC (MSFS VR manages to overlay everything including Task Manager!). For whatever reason the option to map the VR keys simply isn't available in the VR submenu either. They're there but I can't click them to define anything. All the other key commands are easily mappable. Any ideas what I can do?

Hi All Can anyone give any help on how to get FS 2020 (MS store purchase) up and running in VR? I bought a new pc for FS 2020 a couple of months ago and it has been running great, no CTD and I have been loving it However my wife bought me a OQ2 for Christmas and I have been trying to set up VR on FS 2020 and having no success at all (I am not massively tech savvy) If anyone has any tips on how to best get FS 2020 up and running with OQ2 it would be most appreciated. Thanks

Both TrackIR and VR (Rift-S in my case) fight each other when both are running. To make things for myself a bit easy i have VR center (in game) and TrackIR center (outside the game) both set to the same keyboard combo (Shift+F12). This way i can use the same reset view button on my HOTAS to reset the view when i'm either in VR or in pancake mode. But i noticed that TrackIR takes the upper hand, even when in VR. VR center does not always respond when in VR when TrackIR is running and if your headset gives a reflection into the TrackIR camera you can be in for a real weird treat because TrackIR will move your view accordingly, even when in VR. If switched to VR, i…

  17. So I was one of those affected by the flickering clouds issue after update # 5 which affect some gfx cards. I am using a GTX780 GB VRAM (STRIX ASUS) and Rift CV1 Now, at version 1.12.13.0 that is solved in 2D flying but with VR, the issue still remains: Clouds are flickering and the layer/ frame/ window (whatever to call it) on which the clouds are projected stick with my head movement. I can only fly in VR with Clear Skies. I know my CPU is 10years old (i7 980X) and Gfx card 5 yrs old but still .....VR is working above expectations. I had expected a slide show but it is performing very smooth with my old rig. Anyone having the same issue with the …

I just found this. Any techies here reckon they could show a simple way this could pull in a Chrome window or even a notepad window so we could have some notes in VR. https://www.lunarg.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Overlays-in-OpenXR.pdf Also, to give us hope I just read that the developer of VRK Kneeboard is working on an OpenXR version. https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/211308-vrk-a-virtual-reality-enabled-kneeboard-with-touch-and-ink-support/ From the VRK Discord support server: --- So for the MSFS pilots ... I was not aware that Asobo opted for OpenXR API to develop MSFS VR and it caught me unprepared. I was not in the beta program w…

Anybody know how to do this? If I Google it the answers all seen to involve using the left hand controller. Sadly I don’t have any controllers. F12 just produces a stereo image, which I could crop I suppose - but the quality would be degraded.

Hello, and merry Christmas to all! Is there a way to have a popup window for the GPS instrument in VR? It is possible in the 2D cocpit (screen) with right-alt + mouse click, but this does not work in VR, unfortunately. The cockpit instruments are quite blurry in my VR setup, and the GPS barely readable ... Thanks, cheers Vvicne

  23. I’m coming from using xp11 + VR without much issue, though using 3jfps to get around any stutters. For me i find that anything without reprojection isnt fluid or smooth in either sim. I’ve followed all the tips and guides out there for the G2 + openXR. I’ve played with in sim % on render scale and combinations with openXR scaling, both on and off. Sure to an extent if you turn up render scaling and other graphic options in sim and set openxr to 50% with reprojection Off, it somewhat works, but its not fluid like when the sim is able to maintain 30 fps with reprojection On. It has moments of fluidity with reprojection on, hovering 27-30 fps depending on wh…

I am using the G2 and enjoying MSFS in VR. My only problem is, if I switch back to my desktop and then back to VR the performance is badly degraded. So bad that I have to exit the flight and start over from the welcome screen. This happens consistently. I have to make sure that I never exit VR before my flight is complete I haven't seen any mention of this problem anywhere, which leads me believe this problem may be unique to me. Perhaps I have something set up incorrectly. I have my Vr graphics at the default settings. My GPU is a 2080 Super, Cpu is I9, [one of the latest models not sure which], but works very well considering that in 2D Most of my setting…
