I´m quite happy with the fps I´m getting with the sim right now. I get 40-50 in Orbx London city and Innsbruck with the longitude and CJ4 and around 60 on flight. The fps drop significantly when I land on busy airports like heathrow or Charles de Gaulle to 25-30 (I try to avoid these kind of airports for that very same reason). I fly in 1440p, and all the options and sliders are on "High", but while the fps are quite nice on a 2D screen, it can be a disaster with the HP G2 that I preordered. We could easely have 20 fps less than a 2D screen, and that means 20-25 fps on handcrafted airports and 10-15 on busy ones and that in GA not even an airliner. I try to get more …

BUT I am used to flying VR. I thought that with the amazing scenery it would compensate for lack of immersion but it is no match. So I will continue to fly VR with aerofly. Actually with orbx scenery it is every bit as amazing as msfs2020 but in VR. Immersion isn't the only issue...look at the amount of troubleshooting posts about views and how to look around the cockpit...with VR you just look around the cockpit...no hatswitch, mouse or trackir needed. You also don't need key bindings or a mouse to adjust heading, click on autopilot or drop the landing gear...you actually twist the heading knob, reach down and drop the gear, and push the autopilot button. I look for…

For those in the know, as opposed to me, what do you think? Will MSFS 2020 be GPU or CPU bottlenecked in VR? I use a 2080ti and an i7700k OC to 4.8GHz but now that this app is meant to be using multicore processing I am hoping we might see some improvement in VR performance on legacy sims. Thoughts?

Take a look at the white streaks where the red arrows point in these 2 screenshots (done after patch 3). Both were done with MSFS mage quality preset set to Ultra. In the patch 2 version those were not white streaks. They were U.S. postal vehicles (the trucks every letter carrier drives) lined up in rows in front of the building which is of course a post office. Note please: In patch 2 the same screenshot, you could show it to 100 people who live in the U.S. and ask them "what is this building"?. And every single person would answer that it's a post office because of the postal vehicles lined up in rows. Those vehicle images were 3 dimensional with height, width, dep…

Hi, everybody. I'm thinking about buying a VR headset for MFS 2020 and MB for some other software, like MakeVR (3D Modeling in VR). For now, I'm only working with Blender, work time, Substance Painter and Zbrush. So I'd like to ask: is MFS available in VR? Or is it going to be available? And if it's available, does it use the controllers as well? I Wouldn't want to waste money.

Now I read that the 3090 (releasing today) is only giving around 10-15% performance increase over the 3080 on 4k games. That's a lot of $$$ for a small increase but that's presumably 2D. Any thoughts on whether MSFS/Reverb G2 will extract/benefit more from this mega GPU with its 24GB etc than 4k shoot em ups?

I've seen a lot of benchmarks so far for the new 30xx series showing what it will do for 4k but what about VR? Isnt VR two lower res screens that it is drawing? Anyone know of any testers who have looked to see the performance differences of the 3's in VR compared to older cards? I did see a very imformative video showing what can be expected to just update the GPU for those like me who have the i7-7700K which is very promising but still interested in knowing more about the benefits of the 3's for VR users.

I use lens inserts (in my HTC Vive/Vive Pro). But have the Reverb G2 on pre-order. There must be a subtle design change between the original Reverb and the G2. VR Optician, according to their front page will have new lens inserts avaialbe about Nov/Dec according to their website. https://vroptician.com/# I'm not keen wearing glasses inside the headset. In the meantime I have ordered some contact lenses to try (multifocal).

Actually, if it don't support VR I will not use/buy it. I am sorry, but I can't go back to a flat 2D screen again. Once you go VR, it is impossible to go back. I really, really hope MS will support VR with MSFS2020 - it is the most critical issue for me. Microsoft said this - source: https://fsi.microsoftstudios.com/ Microsoft, I am a VR user and I don't want to be left behind... How about the rest of you? Are VR users just a minority and smal fraction of the flight sim community today in 2019...and in 2020...and the next 10+ years? My age: 50 My current (VR) hardware: I9-9900k, RTX-2080Ti, Pimax 5K+ (maybe HP Rev…

As this sim is advanced in many aspects, to have advanced VR experience controller interaction is not enough. Imagine the crisp and smooth vision of superb MSFS scenery through Reverb G2 coupled with hand and fingers interaction with knobs and switches in the cockpit This alone would be more immersive than any other realistic feature of the sim and could be a great potential in professional use of simulator (training, proficiency) MS just needs to pick up the most promising player in this field and support their hardware solution Could it be some glove or hand recognition by headset, I don't know, but this would definitely be a big step into the future wh…

I really like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The representation of the world is a great achievment. But while I enjoy flying in 2D from time to time, I still prefer VR for the most part of my simulator experience and find myself flying DCS all the time.

The idea of all the great things MSFS will bring to us simmers can only be amplified by the timing of the coming Reverb G2 for VR users. I've owned the Rift CV1 and currently use the Rift S which I like a lot. However, knowing what the Rift S can do and then seeing it compared to the coming Reverb G2 along with reviews, well I am very excited about MSFS now. As well as other VR titles. Personally, with games like Alyx and now a headset like the G2, VR is finally getting all the pieces needed to turn VR way more mainstream.

I’m tempted to order MSFS via Steam, but will this add an extra layer of software for me to have to use to enable VR. I’ve always had Oculus up until now, and am unfamiliar with WMR devices, and the associated interface. Given that the Reverb has the MS seal of approval, I’m wondering if it will be more resource friendly if I can keep Steam out of the equation? Hoping the above makes sense, lol.

Am I reading the sales advert wrong? Buy Standard version, for PC, and you need to sign up for the monthly X Box game pass at £4 per month. Buy the deluxe or premium deluxe and you don't need the monthly subscription? I am confused here? Thanks

Its working okish and usable but not proper VR, its a taster of whats to come and its going to be amazing is all I can say. Motion needs sorting out too but with the lag spikes with simconnect its a bit crappy. smoothing out as I have a new plugin for it now https://youtu.be/BAJK6hPRB38

Hello everyone, hope you're well. With the upcoming MSFS VR implementation I've been trying to figure out what kind of graphical fidelity is realistic to expect from MSFS in VR. Unfortunately, so far none of the press preview owners have released content that would test how low they have to drop their graphics settings to get MSFS to push 90 fps in 4k which is a benchmark I believe is required for a fluid VR. There seems to be a massive amount of graphics settings in MSFS, some of which can be turned off or set to low that have not much benefit in VR. These include things like Object detail and object draw distance. However, it's impossible to know at this point…
