Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Yesterday I uninstalled my old FSX tools, like SBuilder and Panel Studio. Everything but FSDS, which I've been using for 20+ years and just couldn't quite do it. Haven't used FSX since MSFS came out, so I guess there's no going back (not that I would've.)

It never ceases to amaze me how many places are missing from MSFS, especially ones that were in FSX. Area51, Eareckson, Narsarsuaq, Thule, and a ton more.

I am pleased to invite you to a search and rescue event that will take place in Kodiak Island (USA). The task of this community event will be to find 20 ships, 10 planes, 5 people, that were lost in the storm and deal with and 5 random event. It will also be able to search for 5 mysteries, and do 9 ,story missions". It is such a CO-OP project. There are people from different parts of the world, so it probably wouldn’t be possible to fly at once. So the SAR starts now and ends when all assets are found. Apparently you can use it in Neofly as well (i don't know much about that). Of course, if you know what you are doing (textures etc.) you can edit the banner. Mad!

Wondering if its just time to upgrade, or if anyone else notices poor performance specifically with the 747/787s. The A320N and other prop planes seem overall usable. Its just the Boeings that kind of have a hard time for me. Did a flight from KLAX - KSFO and on final was getting like 3 fps couldnt even land and the game became unresponsive. First time ever in 275 hours of play time.

I have a couple of 7inch touchscreens. Right now they are hooked up to my 3D Printers but I'm selling one and switching the other out for a smaller screen to save space. Sooo, I'm looking to repurpose these onto my FlightSim rig. Right now I have the full Saitek-Logotech setup with three FIPS, comm,nav and switch panel with a yoke a two throttle blocks. I have seen out there that there is a fellow in China that makes a pretty darn good G1000 simulator using two Apple iPads a couple of custom bezels, the center switch module and the necessary software. When MSFS RK1 Kavik Camp came out on the marketplace I felt it was a touch overpriced for what is a really a novelty remote Alaskan airstrip in the middle of nowhere (albeit it one featured in a reality TV show). Hello, Updated Windows 10 today (version 21H1) No difference using Fs2020, I keep W10 21H1

In this version the G and GS Bug are greyed out if VNAV is not supported. Otherwise seems to catch the GS at PAJN 08 and KORS 16 but not at KSHR 33 which is correct. Cheers bs

Does anyone know how to make MSFS snap to a custom view instead of panning (traveling) to the new view? I have a couple of joystick buttons assigned to my custom views. When I toggle between views, lets say a cockpit view and a wing view, the camera moves from the cockpit thru the cabin until it settles in the wing view. This happens quickly but there still is a delay. I would like an instant toggle from the cockpit instantly to the wing view. I looked at the camera.cfg but I am not sure what to change. Thanks

orbx is now selling their rendition of KSJC San Jose International Airport for MSFS2020 for only $13 at KSJC San Jose International Airport - Microsoft Flight Simulator - Orbx (orbxdirect.com) As a pilot who flies out of KSJC I was hesitant to purchase orbx's KSJC suspecting that it might be no more than a port of their mediocre version for FSX but, for $13 I took a chance and am quite pleased that I did. With its many detailed buildings, parking lots, lighting and static aircraft KSJC is now easily recognizable when approached from any direction. If you fly out of KSJC I highly recommend this upgrade bargain. RobertR

Ran into an issue where my keyboard, mouse and joystick are all unresponsive. Everything was working and then midflight it just stopped. I restarted the game and it still doesn't work Mouse - I can't freelook around the cockpit or zoom in or out. But I can change the dials within the cockpit that I can see. I can use the menu on the main page without a problem, but it's when I'm inside the plane I'm having problems. Joystick - Nothing works Keyboard - Only escape key works. Anyone run into an issue like this before?

So I felt like flying the "Queen of the Skies". I have a problem, though, as I can't start its engines. The APU is running, APU bleed is ON, fuel pumps are ON, I pull the starter for the engine, switch the fuel knob. N1 goes up to 2.6 and that's it. The engine won't start. Any clues beside the one that I'm an word not allowed?

I'm just trying to understand the current state of OBS in the sim. I know it's been implemented on the G1000 / 3000 and also the excellent GNS530 and GTN750 mods. But from what I understand about OBS...it doesn't seem to be FULLY implemented. For instance...the Garmin still sequences to next waypoint in the flight plan when OBS is activated. Also, the Garmin does not keep selected OBS course when switching back to gps mode. Now I've never actually used any of the Garmin units or OBS in real life...so my understanding of the functionality could be incorrect. Anyone with experience care to clarify?

Installed the latest NVIDIA drivers that released today & the Windows Feature update to 21H1. Completed a flight from KPIT-KMEM & had hardly any noticeable stutters on approach for the 1st time in quite a while! Not sure if it was one or the other but much smoother today....

Is there any option as of yet to stop the fight from switching screens away from the cockpit view when it automatically ends your fight during the engine shut down process? I know you can click to get back to the cockpit again, but I find this irritating and am wondering if there's a way we can stop it from always interrupting the engine shutdowns?

Rather unsurprisingly, since this was what Just Flight did with FSX and P3D, they have announced another PA28 variant will be on the way soon for MSFS in the shape of the 161 Warrior. This was a great plane in FSX and P3D, so it's a welcome addition to the MSFS hangar for those who have experience with the less flashier variant of the PA28: I'm still holding out hope for them adding a floatplane version of the PA28. I'd really like to see a nice version of that for MSFS.

Hello community I have some questions to build a soundset for any aircraft. Since these are PCK files, how can you unpack them and also use them again as a PCK file Convert? Do they have to do this as already known wav be encoded with 16bit ? What and how exactly does the XML file work with the sound? I would be very grateful for help. Greeting

Just wondering when they added other planes contrails to the sim. I noticed another plane today while flying on vatsim. AWESOME!!

I have owned the Caranado Piper Seminole for several months now and its been about a month since I last flew it. Yesterday I decided to have a flight using the Seminole, but low and behold I can't find the Seminole anywhere in the aircraft hanger. When I look at the detailed list in contact manager showing all the installed aircraft, airports, etc. it is listed and shows as being owned. When I look at only the list of aircraft that I have installed it is absent from the list. When I checked the actual game files the aircraft is there but missing everywhere else. There does not appear to be any way to reinstall the Seminole or any other item in MSFS 2020. Any suggestions?

Lately I have a problem with the TBM930 - I cannot see the cockpit panel! I think it may be due with a problem in cameras.cfg (that I didn´t change as far as I remember...). Can anyone please check the following values from the Daher´s [CAMERADEFINITION.0] (pilot) in its cameras.cfg or indicating alternative cameras.cfg that may be available? InitialXyz = -0.02, 0.23, 1.05 InitialPbh = -1, 0, 0 Thanks!

Hello all, Maybe some of you know these little tweaks but unfortunately i have found these now. For Windows 10, Just disable windows game mode and for nvidia cards, at nvidia control panel, under power management mode, set "prefer maximum performance" With these two settings my stutters and lagging dramatically decreased.
