Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Hello, i bought microsoft flight simulator a week ago and i'm not sure whether to keep x plane or not. I only have the 777 and EPGD addons so not much money spent on it

FSHost Client 1.5b5 connecting to MFS2020 .I had good luck pointing the program to MSF 2020 with one aircraft in a folder and it saw it and I was able to change the other players aircraft to mine They were in P3DV4.5 and I in MFS2020 we could see each other but since a computer crash and reload of everything I cannot get it to work again It sauys no aircraft found Anyone have any ideas Thanks

I've never been a big fan of the whole airliner thing in the various sims - I'm much more in to just pootering around in something small and slow, or a heli, so I can gawp at the scenery. On those rare occasions when I use the big stuff I'm very much just a "ctrl-E" and away sort of guy. But, I'd like to get to grips a bit more with these things, so I'm going to ask for some pointers. I'm still not interested in mastering the cockpit of a big tubeliner, and I'm afraid I still (at this point, anyway) have no interest in full cold and dark, press all the buttons, type flights. A couple quick questions hopefully someone can provide some information on 1. Is it possible to bind the Strobes and Landing lights? Cant seem to get them working with my alpha. I'm thinking it may be due to the 3 position switches of these particular switches? 2. Is it possible to feather the prop using the detents on the Bravo? I can feather them to -15% using the mouse, but can get them to feather with the prop levers on the throttle quadrant. Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are we not expecting a sim update next Tuesday? From what I've read, they are going to fix the icing effect, fix the radio phraseology and a few bug fixes. Are we expecting anything else? I have a European radio phraseology mod installed and not sure whether I should temove that beforehand. Is there any more news on this subject, any speculation or any guesses as to what the update might break? At least, it seems that there is some beta testing going on.

I saw a post of facebook about a user claiming the NVIDIA driver was the cause of his system crashes. The comments roasted him for the claim. But I've had 3 crashes in the last 2 days since the update. Is there a known link?

I have been flying simulators since the Spectrum days. Even rather early you could fly realtime over the pond and I always said that "I will never become that nerdy"... Kept myself mostly in the mil sim lane where that is never an option over the years. But today, thanks to MSFS and Neofly that won't allow me to move my beloved TMB without editing the database, I am right now departing from Scotland heading for Iceland, then Greenland, then Halifax, then the US East Coast where I want to do some flying with realtime weather as I mostly fly late nights Euro time... Anyone else? Can't remember last time this happened, so I started steam in offline mode launches MSFS but all online services are off. So Marketplace deactivated and no live weather, not actually loaded at an airport yet though. Hmmm..... EDIT: nvm its come back up!

Weird discovery but when letting my Logitech trackball idle for a few minutes it wakes up when I move the ball and then MSFS pauses for several seconds. Obviously Windows is shutting something down but I made sure that the HID / USB property settings would not allow that. Must be a driver thing. Regards bs 🍀

Many mountains and Nordic fells have too many trees in the FS2020 simulator and the trees reach too high on the mountain slope. Even if you set the tree adjustment to a minimum, there are too many trees. Is there anything that can be done about it?

The promised DC Designs Boeing Stearman appears to be not far off release, they have posted some pics of it. Looks pretty nice, although I hope this pic doesn't mean you are stuck in the front cockpit when soloing, I'd like the option to fly from either with a bit of CoG ballast, the lateral view is better from the rear cockpit:

Anyone else getting an error with MSFS which is preventing it firing up? I click on my taskbar's pinned icon to crank up MSFS, it then goes to the MS site to download an update, but this hits an error at about 90 percent progress. I've tried restarting the PC and numerous goes at re-initiating the download, but it stuffs up every time, so there is no way to start MSFS.

I rarely use VFR Map, but when I opened it tonight I noticed that I could not move it around, I could only resize it, is this any known bug that has come with any of the latest patches because I have been able to move it around on the screen before?

Hi Learning MSFS, one big name that comes in mind is "photogrammetry". Is this a new technique for the way we look at cities or buildings? MSFS comes already with it? Is it something we need to install? I am new to MSFS, so I would like to know something about it. Thanks.

My startup time for MSFS was up to about four and a half minutes and flights were taking ages to load. This morning, I emptied my community folder which contained100 addons and my load times were 2 and a half minutes to load MSFS and a little over a minute to load a flight from my local airport. I suspected my addons were the cause of the problem. The delay occurs in the 'checking for updates' process. It seems that this process is 5 or 6 seconds with an empty community folder but went on for several minutes with all my addons. Does this have anything to do with the fact that all addons are shown as uninstalled in the content manager? I thought that MSFS ind…

Hello all I'm new to this forum and hope the question I'm about to ask is on the right forum page. I flew FS 2004 quite a bit in the day and have just returned to flight sim via FS2020. The question I ask is how do I or indeed can I display quick shortcuts for the GPS, Kneeboard, ATC window, Radio Stack, Throttle quadrant and compass onto the screen? On the FS2004 flight decks for the 737 and indeed many other aircraft there were seven icons placed just above the attitude indicator and altimeter which when clicked gave instant shots of the displays I've mentioned above. Was wondering, if it's possible to save a flight with a route in the FMC etc without issue, or is this still not 100% possible yet? i.e. pre-decent midair to practice phases of flight and save time if need be etc. Do various buttons config's get saved correctly? Thanks for any help, Simon

I know it's been a pervasive issue but just wondering if anyone has insights into the issues. Mine stopped logging flights after 254h, and what I notice always is with a gate to gate, from start up to shutdown of the avionics the logbook always shows my departure and arrival airports are the same, the departure airport. I use the Modman manager, other addon planes (including the same authors Savage Carbon) are working fine. I verified also that it had placed it properly in the Community folder. I know this isn't Call of Duty and you don't need huge FPS but I'm getting 10-17 on ultra and 25-30 at Low-End. It's very jumpy around airports like LAX when coming into land on customer settings a lot either HIGH or Medium. Here's my specs SSD with 543GB free after install. I am probably the oldest guy on these forums at 61, pretending to be a pc pilot, yes this is something that I don't let folks in my social circle know about me as they golf and travel the world. However, I know that many here are power users, with high end machines and thousands of system tweaks. I always enjoy reading their trial and tribulations as it is entertaining. Looks like live weather in the sim is currently fed by data that's 24 hours old. Matches my observation from today's flight into EDDH: VCSH and FEW033CB in the METAR, and the weather in sim was a solid cloud formation from 2.500 ft. up to 23.000 ft. and heavy rain all over northern germany, exactly like it was yesterday. Hopefully it's only a server issue and can be fixed quickly, however it surely doesn't hurt to raise awareness at MS/ASOBO.
