Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I've read a number of posts recently saying the sim is quicker to load since the most recent update ~ but why wait at all? If, after shutting down your aircraft (..or even pausing mid-flight) you just press the 'Windows' symbol on your keyboard and then put your computer to sleep, you can continue in an instant at any time afterwards from exactly where you left-off. Just reawaken the computer, and go! I've been doing this for a while now and - having monitored my Smart meter - I've discovered it's costing me under 3p in electricity to leave it sleeping overnight. Heya, I am by no means a professional sim player, so please excuse me for not using correct terminology and not having a more indepth tool. 😉 I was working on a FS 2020 campaign mode in a different forum, and while doing so came up with a little random mission tool to see some more of the random airports of the world. Hi all, Have an issue since the latest update that the display gets distorted near the top of the screen in a strip. It almost looks like screen tearing but not quite the same, its a big strip of pixilation only visible when the camera moves around. Any idea what's causing this and how to fix? Thanks

I have a 'situation' with the Home Screen. I am logged in but my status is offline and the server list is greyed out. Also, in the World Map page. the Zoom key option is reporting the following: INPUT.KEY_MENU_WM_ZOOM_DECR / INPUT.KEY_MENU_WM_ZOOM_INCR. I seem to remember it used to be numpad + and - but I can't set these zoom keys in the options menu. Second problem is, after selecting an airport, it no longer zooms in automatically. Do you know of a fix for these two issues? They are problems after the SU5 update. Cheers Stu

I appear to have missing corrupt material/texture files (CEMENTDIRT01) as areas using it are showing pink. The actual file referred to is ASO_CEMENT01_ALBEDO.TIF.DDS. This occurs at a few freeware airports but also with Orbx EGLC - and show all the time/at all distances. Orbx are helping out, but no solution as yet. I've tried: 1) Completely fresh installs of all sceneries and run EGLC with a completely empty Community folder. 2) Deleting caches. 3) Deleting content.xml and the scenery indexes. 4) Multiple reboots/restarts. What's the best procedure to attempt to reinstall these possibly corrupt textures? I'd hate to have to…

Ok so alot of stuff happened with SU5 but that's because alot of stuff happened. For myself I'm happy that we are moving forward because it suks when we don't. Some of my controls are broke now but I will stay the course until they are fixed. if you can't enjoy the sim try a bushtrip. Lots of fun with the kids. Cheers bs

Yesterday after four attempts to load the Dev version FBW A320 and four CDTs I did get to complete a whole flight which went very well. I was impressed by the smoothness, no stutters at all. Today after seven attempts to load the aircraft and seven CDT's I decided to revert back to the stock A320. All went well until I reached 23000ft then my climb rate fell to virtually nil. I am happy that some are having a great time but I have had enough. Incidentally I have no liveries, no add-ons except the FBW A320 in the community folder which I removed before attempting the stock A320. I do not overclock (I don't know how to). I'm not sure if this started with SU5, but I have buildings missing in Manhattan... notably Freedom tower and the Chrysler Building. I'm on Ultra. Any advice?

Hey there, I´ve got a problem with the King Air. I start the engines and then I switch GEN1 and GEN2 on. If I look at the upper panel with the power supply instruments, the Generators both work and supply power to my electronics. But after a few minutes all electrical systems shut down, due to a lack of power supply. If I then look at the mentioned instruments, the generators both do not deliver any electricity anymore. Is that a bug, or do I miss anything concerning the systems of the airplane? I googled, but I don´t find anything. Thanks, Al

In their weekly post they start by talking about MSFS and the port to Xbox.

Due to all the bugs that MS/ASOBO has now introduced with the latest SU5 update the complete game/sim should be sent back to the development department and grounded. It is unplayable with so many different issues popping up all the time. Time to move on to other hobbies.

Anyone else having issues updating their airports? I just tried and the updater is stuck at 6 of 510. I'll try the old fashion way.

I have been following the forums avidly this weekend, reading about issues people have found in various degrees of anger and frustration. I think nearly all of us have found at least one of more issues. There is quite a bit of noise going on about Microsoft and Asobo. I think we need to be realistic going forward and appreciate that this is going to take a while to fix. What I dont want to happen is for this project to get canned or have budget cuts by MS. The last thing any of us want is for MSFS to bite the dust, we all want it to be a success and a fantastic flight sim. The only alternatives are P3D or X-plane. There may be new versions in the pipe…
