Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Did the SU5, the sim worked then the hot fix came out said: "Game update available" (no TMI here!)....update in MS store. Store opens up- click on update all, It say everything is up to date.... relaunch sim "Game update available" repeat ad nauseum Windows is updated I'm at a loss as to what to try or check. Any suggestions? Thanks, everybody!

I don't fly much to bigger cities and I have Photogrammetry off most of the time. But at some of my recent flights when I came closer to big cities it seems to me that the ai-generetated buildings look worse from a medium distance after SU5. Most large buildings look like wood builing blocks for children. Only when coming very close, more details like windows appear on the building textures. Is this another aspect of downgraded visuals in favor of performance or has it always been like this? As I said, I don't fly often in urban areas and I could be wrong memorizing pre-SU5 urban areas.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents on the new update of msfs. I am new to it and have only had msfs for about 2 months. I did update last night. With the latest Hot fixes. and I must say I am very impressed I am getting much smoother performs with no stutters now. Mind you I do not have many addons, I have 3 payware airport addons and that’s it. for those who have many issues I am guessing that you probably have 1000 addons in your community folder. so,we’ll done Asobo the only thing I would nit pick us the softer and sharper clouds and sharper terrain. sometimes I feel it’s too grainy even thou i have set it to 0 in the .cfg …

Hi all. Does anybody know, that when using live weather, if the sim constantly updates during long flights? Or do we need to go in weather settings from time to time, and update manually?

Hi All Is anybody using the navigraph charts feature on the WT CJ4, I have the charts displayed on the MFD but I am having 2 issues and im just wondering if its likely due to the latest hotfix, I have also asked this on the WT Discord server 1.) The Charts are dark as if they are set for night viewing when they should be white 2.) I cant move the charts around with the joystick inside the CJ cockpit unless I go back to accessibility Legacy but then the it disables the push button on the selection knobs Thanks Wayne

Hi All Not sure whether anyone has experienced this since SU5? I am getting really strange performance issues when loading at some airports. I've seen this happen so far at Bolzano (LIPB), Innsbruck (with and without Orbx), and now Southampton (EGHI). It does not always happen, but when it does, it presents itself (particularly in outside views) whereby one direction (i.e. where the plane is pointed) shows great frame rates (often 50-60fps) , the other (opposite direction drops to around 18-20. Then when I take off the scenery becomes completely blurred. When I try to exit to Main Menu the sim freezes. Same pattern every time. In general I am finding …

I was thinking about adding one of these to my hangar but at $50 a whack, I can only afford one. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the various arrows, turbos and warriors? Is there a consensus on which is the best to own if you are only getting one? Thanks

Enjoying the game, still lots of tweaking. I haven't played for a while as my X-56 throttle kept dropping out, which appears to be resolved with a powered USB hub. Anyway, I'm rather disappointed by scenery tweaks. Flying over my old home town, half the town is nice photo buildings (can pick out all the individual houses), and the remainder is now generic generated block buildings. I much prefer the photo realism of the former - is there anyway to manage this? I'll upload an image when I figure out how. With no support from FSDreamteam for those of us having scenery issues, a user found moving Key West up in this file solved the issue. I'm not finding it on my system. Does anyone know where it's at?

Am I the only one the hat the clouds on Ultra or High? I turned them down to low for the hell it and the flight was just great. I hat those rough pixelated edges.

On the Marketplace, you can find an updated version that has various bugs fixed. The MSFS flightplan that I load now shows up correctly on both the PFD and the MFD 🙂 Direct-to is still a challenge, but it is looking better all the time, and the appearance of this gauge is a real improvement over the default !!

I have LOD 200 but the grass is being drawn 30 feet in front of plane. Also taxi sign doing the same thing with cars as well??

…I couldn’t get through the first section of the first lesson. It was asking me to translate cockpit views left, right, forward, backward etc. and nothing I did could get the system to move on. It kept waiting for input. I change cockpit views using the hat switch on my yoke but that was not what she wanted apparently. I don’t appear to have any specific key strokes mapped to any of the ‘translate cockpit view’ commands. Maybe that’s the problem. And there isn’t any way to prompt the system to just move on to the next objective. Frustrating!

This may have been covered but I haven't located a thread that appeared to so....Is anyone else having issues with APPR not capturing the ILS on final? As well is anyone seeing APPR drive you into the ground short of the field? No GS captured in either instance however I do recall not inputting the arrival airports barometric pressure. That being said TBH I've never done this and had no issues with this prior to the recent update. I've not tried since the hotfix so perhaps that and FBW working on things have resolved it but thought I'd ask. Just realised I've been running the latest AMD Driver 21.72.2 with SU5 and I havern't seen any driver timeouts (yet) even when I left the sim paused for more than an hour which would previously been pretty much guaranteed to trigger a timeout. Have any AMD users encountered the dreaded timeouts with SU5 and an up-to-date drive ? (This post will of course trigger a timeout in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...)

I'm surprised I haven't seen anything in any of the forums about this event. Did I miss it somewhere? PilotEdge is hosting this event , which runs July 14-18th. I will be flying it Sunday (the only time I have off from work during the event hours. I flew it last year several times with different sims and had a blast. I can't wait to try it with this sim. I have flown a few test flights these past few days and am comfortable with it, so I think I'm ready. Their website has all the details about it and addon scenery for each sim for the event. MSFS has been pretty stable for me, even through SU5 and the hotfixes. But today I decided to really start to dive into this sim and I am now seeing CTDs, and I have spent the last two hours reproducing what is going on. Last night I did several long flights (2 to 4 hours each, had one run overnight), all resulting in zero CTDs. Today I have had 5+ CTDs, and can easily get more on demand. Here is what I am seeing so far... If I take off from say Heathrow and fly to Hamburg, I can restart that flight over and over without CTDs.
