Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Hi, Ive been away from Flight Sims for quite some time, either due to not having the time or a 'modern' computer. I used to love building my own airports with ADE, Repaint aircraft to make my own airlines and building flightplans in AIFP, etc, etc in FSX. Now I have more time available and a new computer to consider FS2020 however, as of yet ive not seen any tools such as ADE and AIFP. Dowes this mean FS2020 does not allow for such things or am I just not looking hard enough. Im also not seeing anything in the AVSIM library in terms of aircraft models. Apologise if this has been answered before, if so please point me in the correct direction. …

I have been using MSFS on my new PC (7800x3D / RTX 4090) for the past few weeks with no issue. Today I suddenly encountered a CTD once I reach the 'checking for updates' screen whenever I load MSFS. It searches for updates for a few seconds, then the screen minimizes, freezes and the CTD occurs. I tried the usual things, emptied my community folder, started in safe mode, run as administrator, restarted my PC but the problem still persists. I also tried verifying and repairing the MSFS files both in the Windows 11 option to repair Apps and also in the Xbox App. It did strangely download 8kb once I hit verify but it made no difference. So I have been reading FSElite.net for the last few years, checking to see what new products are out, what is new in the flight simulation industry, etc. Back in 2020 after MSFS's release, I would say maybe 40% to 50% of the articles were about MSFS or MSFS add-ons. Fast forward to spring of 2022 when the first study level airliners were released for MSFS, I noticed maybe about 70% of the articles were about MSFS or MSFS add-ons. When I read FSElite these days, about 90% of the articles are about MSFS or MSFS add-ons. This also means the latest projects and scenery coming to flight simulation are also focused for MSFS. What has been the consensus lately in terms of DX11 vs DX12; particularly with stutters on final approach. Recently before and after the latest update I have been using DX 11, and performance is awesome out of major complex airports, but some airports such as ORD, LAX, EWR, I get stuttering when landing. I was wondering if there was anything in DX12 that would help that after the update. Also, why is it that I can fly out of major airports/cities and it is smooth, but when flying into one, performance drops? Shouldn't it be the same, good or bad? My specs are in my sig. Thanks!

Hi Team, After yesterday's MSFS update, I'm getting an error message from GSX on boot up and it crashes my system. I have updated GSX, but this hasn't fixed the issue. Is anyone else having this problem? When I deactivate GSX, MSFS starts and functions without a Problem. King Regards BJ from Oz

Hey guys, I just got MSFS 2020, and have been an XP11 flyer until now. I'm still adjusting, so I can't really speak about everything, but right off the bat, the visuals (especially scenery) are clearly better in MS. One of my favorite planes in XP is the Eclipse 550. Is there anything like this in MS? I flew the Citation Longitude a bit, and it seems OK, but now sure I like the way it handles. Off topic, but I hear MS is working on a replay option? I can't believe this doesn't exist already. I like to go back and watch my approach and landing in XP, but this doesn't seem possible in FS2020 yet.

Hi all. I recently moved my community and official folders onto a 2TB SSD. However, my sim start times from launch to menu is 10-15 minutes with my menu to sim load times being not much better. In total, it can take up to half ann hour from launch to actually being in sim. I currently use MSFS add on linker but I didn’t notice that make much of a difference. After years of not trying the 'bus I finally broke, tried the FBW and then got the Fenix. Still very much learning the Airbus way of doing things, which caused fun on my last flight when I "lost" managed mode then couldn't get it back (the Fenix really doesn't like Lock mode). So first thing I noticed in the Fenix was that the overhead panel seems very low resolution, as does the MCDU screen in particular. Just to confuse though the tablet is crystal clear. The manual mentions config options, but there is no sign of anything about resolution/display that I have found. A search of the Web has shown pictures of the MCDU that are both the same as what I get or…

Hi Gents, Anybody experienced (temporary) low FPS on the ground/at gate when loading a .pln from MSFS World Map, with specified SID/STAR and app? Flight plan generated with SimBrief and exported with SimBrief downloader. It happens with PMDG 738 and Fenix A320. FPS are smashed by 1/2 the first 10-15 mins of the session, then get better at taxi and T/O, great as usual when airborn. Happens in all airports, big and small. Thank you for your input, cheers.

Hi, i would like to share my project in which i’m trying to develop external portable attitude indicator for MSFS 2020. I am still working on it but the basic functionality is already there and in the video below i demonstrate how it works. I am using the display to be just the attitude indicator (but also with airspeed and altitude info), but there would be no problem to switch between several other indicators. It has touch ability so it could be used for that. The round HyperPixel displayis is really amazing for this kind of indicators so have a look if you are interested :) Now i am trying to do some more optimisations and also thinking about some case…

Hello, I'm using the Cessna 172 G1000 and I can't get the AP engaged. In stabilized flight between 2 airports, I indicate my HDG, I press AP and HDG. The AP indicator flashes yellow and turns off a few seconds later. Same thing when I use NAV mode. The GPS indicator is displayed in white and stays that way. I am surely missing something. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.

The left engine engine throttle keeps increasing to 100% without any input from me. I have the Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke but the GameController app shows no input, so it's happening in the sim. It happens while parked, taxiing but not in cruise with AP and AT engaged. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, I have a shortcut on my desktop to a folder where I can access the Content.xml file. Now I updated to SU10 and deleted the Content.xml file so the sim can recreate it, however now after loading the sim and checking the folder the sim does not create a Content.xml file anymore. Anyone else have this issue?

I am sitting at iniscenes EGLL stand 515 in a Fenix a320. I want zero air traffic, so that I can use VATSIM. But I can’t make all the air traffic go away. I have set: General Options > Traffic > Off General Options > Data > Live real-world air traffic > Off … yet I still get air traffic. There is much less than if the settings are “on”, but it’s still not zero. Any ideas?
