Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I decided to give the //42 Typical Weather app from the MP ($19.99) a spin today. Not much to say except it is a nice way to control most aspects of weather in MSFS including managing presets. Of course since it is touted as the only preset you will ever need. But the main point is that unlike MSFS presets, weather changes (smoothly) over time. Anyway it gets 5 stars from all the reviewers including me. 👍 Note: I had to restart the sim after making the purchase. dd

Flying the Black Square Duke with the TDS GTN750xi. I go to simbrief and create a flight and generate and save it. Example I create a flight from KOXC to KHPN in simbrief. I generated the flight and saved it. When I go into msfs202 and start my flight I am unable to find or select the simbrief flight plan I had just created. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Any advice is welcomed, thanks Walt

So, the user @JYW persuaded me to pick the AS / ToLiss A346 up this weekend 😊 TL:DR - I am so glad I did. Despite some 'warts', it is immensely enjoyable and immersive. Purchase was fine in Aerosoft One. TIP: Before you launch MSFS2024 to load the plane for the first time, copy your activation code from Aerosoft One into your Windows clipboard. When you first load the A346, it will load the exterior model, with no landing gear, and you'll think "Oh no, here we go again!". But this is just because the plane is not yet activated. Hello all! I need some help from experienced MSFS 2024 users that have 3 displays in your setup. I am trying to decide which GPU to use for the best results. I want to use either the RTX 4080 or the RTX 4090. I also see a new version of what I believe to be the next generation, which is the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. Any suggestions as to what path I should be following. I'm putting together a build list for our local EAA Young Eagles and want something with a WOW! factor...not just a game/toy. Thanks, Steve

Remembering back when I used to fly the FSL Bus, in order to steer with the tiller, I had to press the PEDAL DISC button. As long as that button was pressed, I could steer the bus. That button would automatically depress on TO after a certain speed. The Fenix logic seams to be inverted somehow on my end. If I press the PEDAL DISC button, I'm unable to steer and also the tiller would not turn. Having the button depressed, the tiller is turning and steering works. I'm wondering if there is a config issue on my end. I have an AXIS assigned for tiller and another for Rudder (IIRC).

So to get the obvious out of the way, I have 100% narrowed down the cause of this pop-up to the ifly max. When I take the plane out of the community folder, it doesn't appear when the game starts. I asked on discord and they said they haven't seen it before. https://www.imagebam.com/view/ME1BCI79

@Christopher Low's topic on recent airport purchases got me to thinking about fields I used to regularly use back in P3D that are still unavailable (or at least unavailable at a comparable level) in MSFS. Two fields came immediately to mind: KSFF - Felts Field from Orbx. This was a wonderful and unique GA airport from the folks at Orbx. The Art Deco terminal and clock tower certainly helped with the appeal, as did the large surrounding area coverage so critical to good airport realism back in the landclass days. So right as I load the aircraft, the sim crashes. This is the second time I have encountered this problem. Last time this happened, a factory reset of my P.C was the only way to fix it. Now it's back again, and I DO NOT want to repeat that process again. I'm spending some time revisiting a great aircraft - the Black Square TBM850 - while waiting for the Caravan Pro bundle. I had an RNAV approach selected and was using heading hold to turn toward the IAF. I never noticed before but, if the approach is loaded and the glide path pointer is already up on the EHSI, if you're turning right the heading bug completely disappears behind it as you turn through about 60 degrees of heading. Not a problem, just seems a bit odd for a design (but I'm sure that's completely accurate on the real thing). Anyone seen that on other aircraft? It got me curious now that I've noticed it.

I am enjoying the A340-600 Pro in MSFS 2020 and performed some long-haul flights generally without issues. A problem that I have noticed however is that Auto read-back of ATC instruction (via enabling AI Pilot handles ATC in MSFS) does not work, and I am pretty sure that it is an A340 issue as performing the same flight with no changes in the sim but with a different plane the option works normally. Especially for long-haul flights, the AI Pilot handling radio is quite helpful. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Or is there maybe some hidden option in the plane that I missed? I have had one day with TFDi’s MD-11 (so keep that in mind) and have been able to go from C&D to flying a flight plan. As with all my study level add-ons, I have been documenting my custom checklist, and feel i am pretty solid with this add-on at least to TOD. Here’s my impressions so far. I would give the interior visuals a C grade, with it being a bit better at night. It does hurt immersion imo, but it gets a passing grade - barely. The exterior textures are a B, but this is no iniBuilds, PMDG or Fenix in the looks department imo. Performance is okay, but all of the above perform better on my rig. I’ve been having this issue in the sim (FS2024) where my mouse pointer loses focus when, as an example, I’m scrolling through my flight plan on an FMC or MCDU and while clicking through the plan the pointer would just disappear after about three seconds or so. It doesn’t matter if I’m in windowed or full screen mode. Another example is when I try to use GSX to request pushback and would have to push the selection twice because the first click is ignored. It’s almost as if the mouse is losing its focus. I tried uninstalling drivers, unplugging the mouse to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions? I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance, Pete

Has anyone else noticed that the new PMDG 737 for MSFS 2024 sometimes makes a bit of a mess of the turn onto final approach? This seems to be even more evident with the -600. The PMDG 737 for Microsoft Flight Simulator has (IMO) always had a bit of an issue "overshooting" the turn for the final approach, but the -600 in particular seems to be doing this almost every time. In fact, I have just completed a quick flight in this aircraft at UK2000 EGGW Luton (I reinstalled this to test it again; not the best idea that I have ever had, but that is another story), and it made an absolute pig's ear of this turn.
