Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I always think the water color is too blue in MSFS2024. Rivers and lakes in England shouldn't be a blue color all the time. The English channel looks too blue. Is there any way to make some of the water a more green color as in real life, or are we stuck with false looking water colors? Thanks! Harry.

Are there any good sources or videos out there that really help someone understand a turboprop like the caravan? The only turboprop I've tried in flight sim was the majestic Q400 and that was ages ago. Obviously for one, the caravan doesn't have an APU😁

After one day or two of use, this add-on asked me again for the activation serial, I pasted it on the EFB, the message "sending activation request" appears but nothing happens, it just returned me a message saying: "please paste key" in blue letters, this after attempting many times the process, pasting it, and that message again, this is in the MSFS2020 version, still to try in FS2024. Btw, I also posted this in the Aerosoft forums, still no reply from anyone, guess I should wait and pray hahaha! also sent a ticket request. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use the addons linker map tool to help plan my flights to non-default airports. Unfortunately, some airports don't show up on the map and after a bit of looking I realized it's because addons linker shows the Content Type field as something other than SCENERY - typically MISC. My question is, what is this field derived from and can it be changed by someone other than the airport's developer? Scott

There was a couple of issues I had with CSS but I think this update finally brings it to a point where I'm comfortable recommending it to people. Drop $5 and have a go, is my advise now. Still waiting on sounds though, ftsim is a good interim until that's sorted.

How and Where do I delete aircraft that I no longer want (or fly) ?

I've been very happy with my move to 2024 so far. There are many substantial improvements including, surprisingly to me, performance on my older system. I won't be going back to 2020. That said, @jcomm's link to a recent youtube about ground handling got me to thinking about the two things that have disappointed me. First and foremost is the ground handling issue as illustrated in that video. While there do seem to be minor improvements in ground handling, the issue with crosswinds remains. Just received a 4XX.XXMB update SU 16.1 thru the Marketplace for MSFS 2020 Stability & Performance Fixed a crash at boot on NVIDIA hardware in certain conditions. Fixed empty Vector Shape corrupting GPU allocations (was causing crashes while flying over the southern island of New Zealand if WU 12 was installed and DirectX 12 was used). On Xbox, fixed a crash related to input handling. SDK SimConnect Fixed random crash when Data Definitions are cleared while existing requests reference it

New error on a relatively newish PC (Windows 11 Home build 26200, 9800X3D and RTX 5080). It was fine the last time I launched MSFS a month ago. Rebooting the PC and launching MSFS several times after some kind of an update results in the error below. As a result I can't use MSFS 2024. Clicking on the link takes me to this page Fix gaming issues with the Xbox app for PC and handhelds | Xbox Support. The link provides a "kitchen-sink" type list of more than a dozen(!) fixes which really doesn't help me. I'm hoping for a quick fix since nothing has changed in the PC since MSFS 2024 last successful launched without any error. Thank you.

Yes, there's a thread about the imminent release but it's buried and this thing - a comprehensive native update, that now includes Boris sounds, FREE to 2020 owners - deserves a post, for me to report on my initial findings. It's absolutely stunning. The sounds were ok in the 2020 version; they are now exactly what you'd expect from a Boris sound pack (sounds recorded from the real aircraft). Engine sounds are fantastic and it has a headset simulation mode; something not seen enough, that I hugely value. The flight handling characteristic feel very convincing and immersive. The last few times I have attempted to run MSFS2020 (over the last 2-3 weeks) I get a message to insert disk. I run Xbox and it tells me that I am offline, yet I can access websites through 3 different web browsers and all the relevant lights on my router are lit. Rebooting the router makes no difference. The only way I can get connected with 2020 is to reboot my PC. What could the problem be and what is the fix? [added later] And now I find that all my settings have been set back to default. Man I seem to spend time making checklists, but I think it is totally worth it. In the beginning I would try to use the built-in checklists, but some planes don't have them. Then I started downloading checklists (from flightsim.to), but many of those were either missing critical areas (like how to program the FMS), or they just didn't have enough details to be 100% useful. Of course I would watch YouTube videos, but that is a very long way to try to remember exactly how to start, fly and land a study level aircraft. Hi simmer fellows, I just purchased Fstarter24 v2 from Simmarket. When starting this utility it opens a window covered with map tiles each of them numbered 403 saying : Access Blocked App is not following the tile usage policy of OpenStreetMap's of volunteer-run servers osm.wiki/blocked. A web search about this issue led me to conclude that Fstarter24 is overusing OpenStreetMap's servers. Have you, Fstarter24 users, found a solution to this problem. Anyone know if Flightbeam KPDX is compatible with MSFS 2024? I saw a link to it and on one page it says new compatibility with 2024, but when you click on purchase, it only says compatible with 2020

I've used Air Manager on a second networked computer with MSFS 2020 and 2024 since both simulators came out. All panels work fine with all aircraft except for the A2A Comanche. The panels work with the Comanche in both simulators, but the airspeed and RPM dials in the Air Manager Comanche panels always lag behind the actual readings in the Comanche on my flight computer. The airspeed usually lags 20kts or so and the rpm a few hundred. This is the only aircraft that does this with Air Manager. There is a third party air manager addon specifally for the Comanche. Where do I find taxiway restriction information in Navigraph Charts? There are certain airports where I fly the PMDG 737 that have taxiways that look a bit narrow for a commercial airliner, so I want to know which taxiways I should avoid.

Which LICJ is better, AMSIM vs. Jetstream Designs? Thanks for your opinions. Jack
