I know I am in the minority here, but just installed Parallels on my Mac and Windows 10 is ready for MSFS 2020. Flew with FSX for along time, switched to X-Plane and obviously going back to MSFS in anticipation of the upcoming blockbuster release!

  4. Hi simmers 😎 My worry for this amazing looking new sim is that the landscape looks stunning - from high up. But for simmers like me who fly low and slow in the weeds through valleys & doing STOLs onto gravel banks how will the resolution of this "photogrammetry" hold up from 500ft doing 80kts? I confess I have never been a fan of "photo scenery" in FSX, X-Plane 11 etc. because (to me) it just looks unnatural. Again - very nice from FL390 in a 777 but once down low it looked rubbish. Like a poster printed on a 1980s printer and glued onto the landscape. Am I mistaken to worry about how FS2020 will look when it comes to low and slow? Would be interested …

  6. I've been a X-Plane simmer for quiet some time but TBH lost my motivation a while ago. Mainly because of frustration about the performance and also I found it kind of sad, that there are no really sophisticated modern current generation airliners like a A220, A350, 787. Ok well, there is the Flight Factor A350. The cockpit looks nice but because of the lack of proper integration of FMC it is not all that usable. I feel that the only really sophisticated models in current sims are 737,777 and A320 which are.. kind of ancient now. I just like the looks of a "modern" navigational display and cockpit that wasn't developed decades ago. Since the A350 and 787 (and upc…

Do we know if the 747-8 and the A320 will be the only jets in the game? At the moment they have been the only ones advertised. I have been looking around for this information. I would love to see a stock Embraer regional jet in this game.

I am unable to sign up or login to the alpha forums. I am not sure whether there's a waiting period needing acceptance or what? A little confused as to how it works. Sent a ticket through Zendesk and got absolutely nothing back. If anyone could chime in via PM on how this works, I'd appreciate it.

Of all the major improvements so far, the ATC is a major let down...its FSX all over again!(probably even worse) the voices sound robotised and very unrealistic...I was expecting a major breakthrough with a wow factor like actually as close to a human voice as possible...and I really was convinced that they would pull this off because they do have the technology (at least so I thought). So I was prepared to be totally blown away by the new ATC...and I was blown away...only in the wrong direction. I honestly don't understand how all other aspects of the sim are so close to reality to the point that in some aspects you can't even tell real from simulation...but wh…

I have been searching/lurking all over the forum/internet to find any official videos/screenshots, made in The Netherlands, in FS2020. Did they release any? Thanks in advance.

  13. This question has been on my mind. Aircraft developers, scenery developers, weather providers and ATC providers will logically start using the new API but I wonder to what affect? The current Alpha / Pre-Release information seems to cover all the bases very well so I'm wondering if there is still a viable market for addon developers or will they be left in the dust? Regards bs

Hi, am I the only one who thinks that the stormy water in the Gibraltar-approach looks really sort of "too much"? Just reviewed some stormy approach videos on youtube and the water is really different: white caps, lots of waves, but not this gigantic one in the video... Oh, and still no fuzzy cirrus clouds in the Sim 😄 -but that's another topic 😁

  16. Hello guys n gals! I am participating in the Alpha, but I am currently experiencing a problem with the (Re)-Installation of the program because I uninstalled it improperly. Now I am looking for official resources for Insiders to Chat and get Answers/Solutions to problems and share screenshots etc. I am a bit confused since the forums on the official site are not active - there are no posts and I have no way to post anything. So if anyone could point me into the right direction on how to get into contact with Asobo or other users I would be most grateful. Stay healthy everybody

  17. Alright I missed it by one day. But this is the 1 year anniversary of the announcement of Microsoft Flight Simulator being developed once again, on June 9th, 2019. I thought they were done, and it surprised the heck out of me, and I thought it was not true at first, and of course most of use were confused and some thought it was Xbox only also, among other things from maybe not being true, to whatever you could think of at the time. I actually thought they were done, and would probably never develop another version. But, that was just me.

Have you noticed that the new sim is truly a multinational venture : Austria (Blackshark.ai), Canada (NavBlue is an Airbus Company founded by a Canadiann whose name is... Englsh with HQ still in Ontario), France (Asobo), Switzerland (Meteo Blue), USA (Microsoft) ? Did I miss any ? I like it.

  21. We, the non-alpha (sounds like a scifi novel), are mostly focused on the scenery out of necessity. I really expect more from FS20 and that includes the weather system. Active Sky has brought a considerable improvement in P3D over the years but cannot really recreate what I see in this video which came to my You Tube timeline. I know quite well this New Britain short route, done it several times, I never had that kind of complex rainy weather and to face the dilemma he faces. I hope that FS20 will be up to it. This You Tuber is interesting to follow as he extensively narrates what he does. On a side note I also hope that the default Caravan, the closer from his Kodi…

Once in a while, the devs answer a question in their updates, so here's mine. I can't use a joystick/yoke, I hurt my hand a long time ago because I used to use then so much. So I've been a keyboard flier for two decades. The latest update indicates that the arrow keys will be used for cameras. Will keyboard flying still be a possibility?

  23. Does anyone know whether or not Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) will be backwards-compatible with existing peripherals that were designed for Microsoft FSX? I have a large amount of Saitek peripherals (Cessna yoke/quadrant, Cessna rudder pedals, Cessna trim wheel, switch panel, radio panel, GPS panel). If I were to switch to FS2020 sometime in the future, would I have to buy all-new peripherals, or would my current ones work? Thanks in advance for the help.

  25. Asobo and MS say that they have a 10-year development plan for FS20. I guess/hope that implies not only marginal improvements and corrections of errors but also encompasses the evolution of satellite imagery. We shouldn't stay on a static vision of what satellite imagery is, à la Google Earth (my favorite app of all time). Satellites have become cheap to make and launch and so, much more numerous to map our world. Greater precision and diversity of information and that, day per day ! I found that this small promo trailer from Planets Labs, a satellite operator as opposed to Bing which is just a licencee of imagery, shows how FS20 could/should benefit from this…
