  1. For those of you planning on upgrading your monitor for this sim, is there any point going higher than 75hz? Curved screens worth it? Would love to see some pics of your current monitor setup. I'm thinking about dual or triple screens but don't know what to get or how to display them. I'm thinking one cockpit view and one external view. I'm assuming two monitors require double the GPU power?

I am hoping they can push the weather system and be able to model hurricanes with the different wind shear walls and calm eye in a hurricane. Also would be amazing to have tornadoes of course and maybe they can show a laptop computer being taken up in a tornado that had desktop icons of FSX, X-Plane 11 & Prepar3d 5. 😛 But it would definitely be fun to grab a C-130 and fly through the eye of a hurricane and feel the effects of a rotating vortex and wind speed!

So.. development is further a long now - we’ve even got an idea about the requirements. what I am interested to know at the moment is how much support asobo is planning for variable rate shading and deep learning super sampling (Nvidia) after release. Both of these technologies would seem to work phenomenally with a flight simulator. Vrs works best when adjacent pixels are very similarly lit/coloured and with all the sky, ground and sea that will be filling our screens there could be a great increase in performance available for little to no difference in visuals. This also applies to Nvidia dlss, deep learning super sampling. The newest …

  4. Was released on May 15th, 2020 to Insider's... "Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming to Windows 10 with Xbox Game Pass..." You will find above in the Q & A section of the Insider Login. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okeedokey...$15.00 for full Game Box, or $9.99 per month, to fly through MSFS2020 skies... My prediction...P3Dv5 will start flying off the shelves now....over the next few weeks... Some people will not want to budget in $120.00 per year, to get past the Flash Screen. Some will...a lot won't...OK...back to P3D '…

From the May 14th Update: "SDK UPDATE Our focus on the SDK development has been intensified in recent weeks and the SDK is getting more mature as we improve it based on the feedback we receive from 3rd party developers. We are now in contact with more than 200 companies and 400+ developers have access to the SDK. On the airports side, we are both widening the scope of what can be customized in the sim (e.g. adding the possibility to blend custom aerial imagery on the terrain, creating custom painted lines per airport) and working towards simplifying the adaptation of existing assets to the new simulator (e.g. adding support for projecting meshes). On the …

  10. I watched again the Feature Discovery video about Airports and I noticed 2 things: 1- Someone pointed out here already that Asobo will use Charts for runway slopes and I finally heard the dev mentioning it in the video. I had missed this detail completely when I initially watched the video. 2- When I paused the video, I noticed this feature (in the screenshot below) Sorry I could be late on things you already noticed...

As a private pilot and meteorologist specialising in cloud dynamics, I'd like to publicise my opinion of the up coming meteorological environment of the new Microsoft flight simulator. I am not an alpha tester nor have I had any kind of access to the software. My analysis is based solely on the pics and videos currently in the public domain. First of all I can not contain or indeed emphasise my excitement enough over the apparent realism of the clouds. It seems most if not all cloud formations are faithfully and realistically produced. Never before have I witnessed cumulus clouds breaking through a layer of altocumulus in such a realistic and physically correct manne…

I think the water in MSFS is stunning, but what is missing from what I have seen is behavior of water at elevation changes. How cool would it be to see some nice rapids in the mountainous areas!! Would greatly enhance realism and liveliness of the scenery.

  13. It would perhaps be useful, should the simulator create the screenshots, and not via 'Print Screen'/Clip Board, that it could save the location/GPS coordinates in EXIF meta data inside the .jpg files. But maybe only in the released version, otherwise we would lose the fun in the "In-game VS Satellite" thread :-).

  14. May 7th, 2020 Development Update POSTED BY: MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR TEAM Screenshot by OperatorLand468 “We would like to see rapids in rivers, with fly fisher-people on the banks. There should be snakes, on the banks, and salmon leaping up the rapids. We need bears… we need bears catching the salmon, and it would be ideal if we could fish. Furthermore, we’d like an accurate climate change model with Icebergs and Antarctic Ice shelves breaking off from the mainland with Polar Bears and Seals. And finally, if MSFS does not accurately model the Sun’s eventual evolution into a Red Giant, we question their long-term commitment to the sim.” Avsim Us…

I'm sure this has been discussed many times before (apologies if there is another thread), but looking at all the recent pictures shows how magnificent the world is and I think would really benefit from having a free-roam mode. Park your plane up and go for a stroll around the airport or field in which you've landed. Virtually visit some of the locations you've dreamed of going! Of course the quality in places might be a bit hit and miss on occasion, but by adding this freedom it also unlocks some other potential features for the sim: 1) Inspect your aircraft before flying. This is not so much used for the larger aircraft / jets, but for small prop engines you can in…

  17. One of the amazing upgrades in MSFS in my view are indeed the trees, or rather, the forests. AI-scanned, for the first time, we see lush and dense forests or beautiful patches of trees in grass covered fields accurately following their BING footprints what seems to be worldwide. Even up close, the trees look almost photorealistic, with the icing on the cake being that they move in the wind. So far, I have only seen striking views on the trees and forests and am absolutely in awe on what MS and Asobo have accomplished here and thank them sincerely for it. I do not care less about some trees perceived too large. Grass now a bit on the short side though 😉

  24. In this Xbox article released today, they talk about things that are coming in 2020. They mention MSFS in one of them. (This is my first topic, sorry If I did something wrong.) (I'm only posting this because I have seen some people speculating that It's impossible for MSFS to release this year.)
