... the cheaper the 16TB SSD are gonna be. Take all your time Asobo 🤣. That is the first conclusion I draw from Adrien’s video posted by Noooch and a first scan at online shops PS Please Asobo, DO NOT take me seriously.

The title basically says it all, I doubt the default Heathrow will have all the airlines parking in the right terminals and/or stands.

I went to Adrien's video post on You Tube to get a better understanding on how the cache works as he says in the video that one cannot select a specific area to fill it in advance. His reply in the comments comes as this (translation by me) : The cache is a storage somewhat special, once full, it clears out what is older to add something newer. It the game/simulator which manages it (it is a big file). Roughly speaking, everywhere you fly, it downloads the sat maps and instead of clearing them out, puts them into the cache. Then the next time you fly again at the same place, it has not to look for the map on the internet but in the cache. This why I say that I…

Hi :) the clouds in FS2020 look really cool, also the atmosphere and so on.... but: I haven't seen anything like frayed clouds on the videos or alpha screenshots... has anyone here? I'm often in Washington state and, especially with the mountains and windy weather, you get really great looking, dynamic frayed clouds....always looks amazing examples: https://pasteboard.co/J2oAkYg.png https://pasteboard.co/J2oAVOH.png https://pasteboard.co/J2oB8FM.png Maybe somebody here knows an alpha-participant who could confirm that there will be only the "puffy"-type clouds in FS2020 (okay, the stratus do look good as well :) )?

Asobo, Don't forget that in normal moderate weather conditions waves typically only appear on the downwind side of a lake and the waves are quite perpendicular to the directions of the wind. A very useful phenomenon for determining wind direction and to the experienced eye wind strength at ground level. Now doubt we will see this in the sim if water bodies interact with atmosphere in a similar way as it interacts with the terrain. If there are any videos of screen shots of this phenomenon in the sim please post them here. 😁

Question number one: I was wondering what the final, formal title of the sim will be. We all use the title Flight Simulator 2020 to differentiate it from previous Microsoft Simulators, however the game logo indicates clearly, that it will be simply the "Microsoft Flight Simulator". No year, no numbers, etc. As far as I remember, Asobo employees never say "Flight Simulator 2020" when they talk about the sim. What do you think? Question number two: As I watched the latest development videos from Asobo, I think now they are not going to introduce the AI aircraft silhouettes which are close to the reality. I think they are going to handle all AI traffic with th…

I hope they make it possible to customize the aircraft sounds for the AI aircraft. This was terrible in FSX/P3D. The sound engine also had lots of bugs when confronted with multiple sounds. It's really nice when in an airport, to hear all kinds of aircraft types starting, taxiing, taking off and landing around you. Brings the airport to life. If you want an example what I mean, check out the freeware AI sounds for AI aircraft. Would love to develop stuff for FS2020. Cheers!

Any chance we could get some official MS approved screenshots (from a safe distance, of course!) of Tropical Cyclone Harold in this Thursdays update? https://www.windy.com/articles/tropical-cyclone-harold-is-expected-to-cross-vanuatu-11723?satellite,-16.762,159.961,4

This was just reported. Back in 2017 AM General sued Activision over the unlicensed use of the Humvee in the Call of Duty games. Activision countered by saying it was a first amendment right. The lawsuit is over and the judge is allowing Activision to continue to use it. But here is where it gets interesting. "Dismissing the lawsuit, district court judge George Daniels determined that the games passed the "Rogers test," a precedent set by a case that dealt with the depiction of actress Ginger Rogers in the 1986 film Ginger and Fred that protects artists and authors from accusations of trademark infringement unless that trademark is completely irrelevant to the cr…

This is a verse from a 13th century French poem, it says what has become of my friends, I think the wind outside my door carried them away. Back to 2020. Many posters who were active on this forum few weeks ago have made themselves scarce these days, I suppose that they were carried away by the alpha wind 🤣 Que sont mes amis devenus Que j'avais de si près tenus Et tant aimés Ils ont été trop clairsemés Je crois le vent les a ôtés L'amour est morte Ce sont amis que vent me porte Et il ventait devant ma porte Les emporta Avec le temps qu'arbre défeuille Quand il ne reste en branche feuille Qui n'aille à terre Avec pauvreté qui m'atterre …

Don't get me wrong, I am an IT guy and I know what Azure is. It is one of the largest groups of datacenters in the world. If there is any company that can handle large amounts of data then it is Microsoft. Still, at releasedate we might see over a million people flying this sim. Nobody has at that point data cached. We know that besides downloading the software, a user that is flying with the highest level of detail, will use on average around 10 Mbit/s.1 million x 10 Mbit/s = 10 Tbit/s. That is more then what is ever used on the AMS-IX, which is one of the biggest Interne hubs in the world. I really wonder if this will work out that wel.

I noticed when hovering over bingmaps scenery, eg mountains, that mountains in the background look blurry until you get a lot closer. I do not think this is the case in flightsimulator, at least not in the posted videos. Is there a possibility it could be my internet connection causing this, or does the sim has some technique to render detail in the distance better? Thanks Spoiler

In the Multiplayer video they show this yellow plane landing (see image below). I am not a bush pilot, but I want to try it out in the new sim, so I don't want to learn bad habits. So is this landing a safe landing in real life? Or is there a good chance the plane would flip, or catch one wheel? This is taken just as it was touching down. (Some of the later frames you can't see the wheels because of the vegetation.) In the video it starts at about 3:13. https://youtu.be/ezcSVFQdc5g?t=193 And maybe you can educate me on where you could or couldn't land in a bush plane. Exclude the obvious like too short, big rocks, etc.

Kind of an odd request... I know there are editable ground vehicles as per the airports video. But, if it’s not already in there, Asobo may you please add a tractor w/ mower attachment in the airport editor as a ground ai vehicle? I’d like to be able to place one in the grass at various airports and set it to a defined route. Airports are mowed all the time in Spring/Summer. P.S. - Regarding the airport vehicle editor shown in the airport video, I wonder if it is possible to specify when a vehicle is activated, such as a tractor in this instance? For example, could you hide it easily if there is snow on the ground? Thinking something like this: …

Microsoft announcing that the game is now in alpha release testing .. can anyone shed light on what this means ? is the alpha now complete and going through testing before the beta ? and do you think the oceans will be to scale ? Or condensed down to make flying between countries more convenient ? simulating a flight from london to lax for example will take 7 hours on avg if it's to scale .. it’ll be super cool if it is to scale , just seems hard to believe that the developers will scale the oceans as flying over oceans hours at a time could get boring ? What are your thoughts on this
