Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I have been finding myself more and more interested in using the drone cam to take beautiful pictures of the amazing landscape and it's really distracting me from wanting to fly. When I do fly, I will eventually want to land in the middle of nowhere, pull out the drone and just do some sight seeing. This flight sim is incredible and it makes me want to be a virtual landscape photographer now.

We are planning to have discreet World Updates that focus on a specific region of Earth. The current plan is to do this every 2-3 months. In order to really celebrate that particular part of the planet we are updating, we are also planning on creating some new hand-crafted airports, some new POIs and we will also attempt to provide some more activities … like landing challenges. We are very excited about this as it will – over time - spotlight all regions of Earth, which we hope will bring focus to areas that might not be a current aviation hub. If you haven't had a chance yet to visit Washington DC, you should go and check out the capital Building. Good for a giggle at how some structures are generated.

my flightsimulator.exe size is 278,502 KB version 1.7.12.0_x64 while I saw a guy jn youtube is 320,787 KB the size of the folder in C:/program files/windowsApps is 971 MB and in the SSD D drive 95 GB are these values consistent with yours?

Can anyone check if the localizers are working in-game at Telluride or Aspen? The live map does not allow you to select any approaches at either airport, and I am not getting any signal on 109.3 at KTEX or 11.15 at Aspen. You should at least get a signal right after taking off in the opposite direction, and I am not getting anything. IN the King Air for example the Nav1 says "no data." I know it works elsewhere (just did an ILS at KLAS in the King Air). I will file it as a bug but wanted to see if someone can confirm the same issue.

Anyone else have trouble seeing airport beacons? At times I've noticed the approach lighting of an airport before seeing the beacon flash, but it seems to be intermittent and I'm wondering what other people have experienced. This may have come up in one of the long general issues threads but I didn't read them all and overall haven't really seen anyone mention it specifically yet.

Other than Ryan and myself. This one is in the pipeline and should be a real barn burner. All the negatives about the small useful load, snug cabin with not enough shoulder room and the outrageous price tag for the Mooney is out the window when sim flying. This one is probably the best of the best for all the Mooney models and one of the few high end ones that we can get with round gauges. This one also was built as a glass panel model for only $800,000. I wonder why it didn't sell well? Anyway, no date on delivery just yet, but this very nice panel shot is the home screen on the Carenado facebook page.

My world map / globe is zoomed in to 0 nm. I cant find any way to zoom it back out. I have no idea how it got zoomed in either. Any advice would be appreciated. Stampee

well I think I was the only one trying this, and yes, other games external drives work. But not 2020 due to excessive errors and pop ups of explorer and things like "can not find file" errors. Once I moved via steam tools, to my internal drive, all works well!

Can’t find my config that I spend hours making to backup and use after reinstalling... any idea ?

Hello group, Let me just say I'm loving FS2020. After a few tweaks, I'm getting closer to what makes a really enjoyable flight experience. Understood, as we move along with further updates, the settings and tweaks and other bits will change. I just wanted to share where I'm at for the moment. My system specs are in my sig, but of note: - I have a dedicated m2 nvme for my O/S (Win10) - Also have a dedicated m2 nvme for my flight sims, (FS2020, DCS, and IL-2 BoX) - Lastly, since I had the slot/space, I also added a dedicated m2 nvme for my page/swap file Since I have 64GB's of 3200mhz RAM, I made my swap file of an equivalent size for it. I see where I can select my gender for my avatar pilot, but it makes no change IF you select either sex for the pilot's ATC communication voice. I only seem to be able to have a female voice as my avatar pilot, no matter if I have selected a male avatar. If you can select 'your' voice gender preference, where the heck is that?!?!? Hope you can...look rather weird...a male gender PIC avatar...and he answers with a female voice...er, right? Should point out that it is OFF LINE mode...not Azure...

Given that the location of the SIM is under permissions lock how does one set up the RTSS profile? Also can someone post a screenshot of their profile? I am getting constant stutters at 30 FPS on my 3480*2160 on a GTX1080Ti and I76700K at 4.6 MHZ and I am trying to go by a process of elimination. Side note . Just landed at my homwtown airport of MDST and I cannot believe how immersive this was for being a default sim. I am truly excited.

I was making manual cache in Tampa bay. The arena here is Amalie arena and has been for quite some time. It shows Amalie on the map where I chose my mapping but in game it’s Tampa bay forum. It uses the maps to generate so shouldn’t it show Amalie arena? It was named that in 2014 so I’d think it would be accurate in game.

Does the sim rate work for anyone else? When I press r and + or - it does nothing. I've also double checked the mapping of the function.

10 years ago, did any of us believed that we would be experiencing the level of realism MSFS is delivering? While I understand people’s frustration with the bugs and frames issues, it’s part of the natural process of innovation. As I noted earlier, the tide of technological progress is unstoppable. As hardware improves and becomes more potent, so will our MSFS flying experience. P3D and Xplane will slowly disappear unless they can replicate MSFS remarkable breakthrough. The underlying reality is that visuals has been, is, and will always be the bedrock of any simulation.

When starting a flight an error pops up saying I’m not connected to the Internet so the game will then start in the off-line mode. This is not correct. My internet connection is working and on and was working before this happened. Any idea how to correct this? Thanks

Is there a list of the flight controllers that MFS supports out of the box? I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2, without force feedback. It is recognized but I have to figure out how to set it up on my own. I've about given up on that and am considering purchasing a new controller (if I can find one) but only if it is supported out of the box. Is there any indication that MS will increase the number of supported controllers in the next update? Hard to believe they don't support their own hardware. It's old, but there are a lot of them still in use. Thanks

Noticed something last night that took me 30 minutes of flailing around and eventually exiting and coming back in to fix. After some more testing this afternoon, not sure if this is a bug or what. Create a flightplan, doesn't matter aircraft, IFR/VFR etc. Save it with the Load/Save option. Go back to Nav Log, you can't edit the cruise altitude. It's grayed out. Clear the airports out totally, change aircraft, whatever, it's still grayed out and locked to whatever altitude of the saved plan. I.e if you created a high altitude airliner flight then decided at the last minute to go VFR in a prop, the cruise altitude is still locked out. I just tested this further sta…

Yesterday I finished my fifth flight in a row where I had zero AP issues in contrast to my first few flights all being more or lease ruined by AP issues. I also noticed that early flights the planes couldn't hold an assigned flight path without weaving back and forth or up and down and now seem to be handling both fine. I'm trying to determine if the variables simply fell into place to make this appear like a fix, or if fixes may already be getting applied.

Good evening, I’m not sure what the issue is... but some of the keys on both my joystick and keyboard aren’t working.. like “b” for altimeter, “h” for set heading indicator... can’t even decrease or increase flaps on my joystick.. brakes don’t work sometimes. I’ve tried closing other windows, dragging windows around etc, no dice. It makes it hard to enjoy this. Any help would be immensely grateful. thanks!

I am playing around with specs today for the first time and I have noticed on a few flights, a lot of the graphics look a little washed out and bright. They don't look as crisp as I have seen displayed, particularly the photoreal stuff. What can i look into to see what could be causing this? See attached image. I am getting this weird shimmering grainy artifact in most planes right now during daylight. I've played with a lot of the graphics settings and it feels like it wasn't doing this the first couple of days, but maybe I just missed it. Any ideas? Thanks all.
