Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Can the popping up instrument tips when mousing over dials/switches be turned-off somewhere? Thank you

If you wanted to impress a friend by showing them a VFR flight in MSFS 2020, where would you fly? I would suggest flying over and around New York City showcases the sim very nicely.

With the recent shortages of devices on the market, I decided to make my own for adjusting the trim. I want to put this in an enclosure and attach a wheel. I used an Arduino Uno and used the COM port. Then used C/C++ to read the values and pass those to flight sim Here it is working currently.

HI, Across the various topics there are many questions about setting up the new flight simulator. I hope that a guide can be produced to ease the confusion of installing this entirely new program with the minimum of agita. While I am looking forward to the flying, the install may be not so much fun. A pre-release video to assist would be advantageous.

Hi all, sorry if the question has been discussed already somewhere, but I have not found it. Currently I get stuck at about 50% of the blue line on the start screen (after checking for updates). Is this still linked with any connections to the server? I tried since several days. And another question...I have installed the sim from DVDs to Drive D. However, the .exe file is located on Drive C: Can this be a reason? Sorry for this (likely) stupid questions, but I am not a hardware/software specialist . Thanks for any help, Andy (opsler 72)

During an approx one hour+ flight yesterday I had to refuel to be able to reach my destination.....??! I started with 50% fuel onboard and the DA-40 is extremely "non-thirsty" using diesel or JET A-1 so I do not understand why the consumption is so high? The weather was the std Live weather with like 270/03 so no problem there either. When flying this aircraft you use the Load setting to set your power and the prop pitch changes automatically (and the RPM) but in this case I need to reduce Load to about 35-40% before the prop RPM is starting to decrease at all....

Okay, I am not sure if this is the correct area to post. If it is not, I do apologize. The problem is, I may not have a problem and therefore do not require a TIP for fixing. I am having what seems to be an odd sound issue. My interior cockpit sound is extremely quiet, while my exterior view is extremely loud. I have tried adjust every volume/audio slider available. Is anybody else experiencing this? For some reason, I do not remember this "issue" standing out to me the first couple days I ran the simulator. Seems like something that just started to occur. Anyone? Thank you in advance.

First time flying the TBM tonight, EGGP to EGNM > selected low altitude airways and the sim chose a simple route EGGP POL EGNM. Whilst up in the air I wanted to shoot the ILS, there are two touch panels below the MFD but when I went into PROC, select Approach it didn't display any approaches whatsover. Is this not modeled in the TBM?

Howdy all. I bought the Carenado 182, but after 15 seconds MS Store reports "Purchase Failed". I figure the transaction bounced for some fat finger reason like cvv code. I go to check and I now see that the issue was not my card as it did transact $29.95 with MS, but not for a plane but for MS Bucks! (120 "Flight Sim Credits"). So no bucks AND no plane! I wanted to try again and deal with the refund at a later time but the 182 is now grayed out in MS Store and not available. Any ideas of how to work the refund process or better yet how to get the 182? TIA -Braun

Anyone get this beauty ? Happens randomly on extended flights ( non local ) ... on SSD external too so wondering if we can’t use portable SSD for this sim or just a bug that’s early on in FS2020 life ....

What are your thoughts? Personally, I think this is a game targeted for casual gamers who seek to be impressed by amazing graphics and give little thought to the intricacies of simming. The numerous bugs despite reports in beta and alpha by hardcore simmers just shows which group Asobo is catering to. I do hope this changes with future updates, otherwise this will die off similar to Microsoft Flight.

Well after finally getting to try the new sim after a long days work and a 2 hour download which went off without a hitch, I finally had a chance to give it a quick go. Seems to be quite a broad spectrum of opinions on it so figured I’d give mine. My pc is very modest, I’m running an I7 7700, 12gb ram, gtx 1060 6gb card. My impressions so far...WOW, I am extremely impressed, kudos to Microsoft on this one. my performance is great on high settings in clear skies, rain, overcast etc. In the a320, caravan or Cessna 172. Seems i get nothing below 40 FPS so far which is more than acceptable given my system. My resolution is lower, 1920x1080. But wow does this ever lo…

Anyone else experiencing the weird trim controls. My axis movement seems to make a delta change to the trim not actually place the trim in the static position within the range of axis movement. It makes tuning level flight almost impossible for me using the axis controls on my Saitek X52. Is there a workaround for this? Thanks for any help with regard to the issue.

Amazingly FS2020 is starting to work a bit better. Not sure if Microsoft is poking around the back end of the program or what but this time last week it was constant CTD. Now only seems to CTD about half the time when I launch it. I have yet to determine what causes the random CTD's and sometimes it launches and I can fly successfully but again its not happening as much! I believe a lot of the problems are my older system. Still have not decided to build or buy a new system or just upgrade this one? Considering how well it runs and looks on my system even with minimal settings I am thinking of increasing my RAM to 16GB and going for a faster budget card and worr…

First off, I’m new to this site so please pardon me if my rant is in the wrong place. I have owned every Microsoft Flight Sim since it’s inception. That has been many years. I have a home built cockpit and was so excited that Microsoft was coming out with a new flight sim for 2020. I went as far as buying a new computer for the demanding requirements this sim had to offer. After purchasing the deluxe version and 26 hours of downloading I finally got the sim opened. I noticed that i was unable to align the IRS, activate TCAS or even WXR. There're some buttons that are inactive. How to make them active in order to have more immersion as in real life?

In looking under Profile/Content Manager i see everything up to date except something called Core Content Mandatory Packages by Asobo. Its a 80gb file, and doesn't show up to date like the others. The sim seems to be running fine this way. Anybody know what this package actually does. I click on it and nothing happens. Anybody downloaded it yet, and what does it do? Thanks.

Terrain slopes up to the river. You can even spot a casino inside the river. Only if this was fixed when people reported the bugs.

OMG can it be this easy - C172 G3X + G1000 make a copy of the panel.cfg and this.... htmlgauge00=NavSystems/AS3X_Touch/AS3X_Touch.html?Index=1, 0,0,1024,768 //htmlgauge00=NavSystems/AS1000/PFD/AS1000_PFD.html, 0, 0, 1024, 768 ok the purple txt is a tad mixed on the g3x but it's fine on the G1000. I created a full flight plan on the G3x and it crossfilled on the G1000. Ok now I'm happy with the C172 🙂 I also did this on the Caravan and everything was working fine as far as I could tell.
