Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I have vsync enabled in-sim for my 30hz refresh rate, so works great while flying. But the opening video isn't vsync'd so it's real choppy. Anyway to remedy that beyond getting out of it quickly?

Although disabling the rolling cache resolved the main performance issues, I still have microstuttering. I've tried everything in my knowledge, even the weirdest stuff (swapping DP / HDMI cable, running it on an LCD TV low settings full offline, disconnecting SATA drives, terminating software and background services, a fresh install of Win10...) but regardless of the settings, I always have this kind of jerky frametimes - a microstutter every few seconds - that kills the experience. I just did my first semi-long IFR flight in the TBM to test the aircraft functionality and the Live Weather system. The flight was from KELM to KBOS at FL270, flight plan was CFB RKA PONCT.JFUND2 with a transition to the ILS 22R approach. Since this flight was in US airspace, I did it knowing that there would be no surface or aloft winds provided by Live Weather (and indeed there were not), but I wanted to see how the rest of the Live Weather functions would play out, and especially wanted to check temperatures aloft against the NOAA upper level forecast. First post ever... be gentle... I bought a new rig for the sim, but still awaiting delivery. Meanwhile, using Game Pass I’m giving it a go on my gaming laptop which barely meets the minimum requirement specs for those that are curious. Omen HP 15 laptop specs: i7-8750H GTX 1050 Ti 4 MB vram 1 TB HHD 7200 RPM (Base game installed here) 1 128 GB SSD (80 GB rolling cache set here) 1600 x 900 resolution Of course, all laptop components so not as powerful as full size counterparts on a desktop. When I select an approach and then hit "load" the plane flies back to the last waypoint before resuming course. "Load and activate" - the same. What's going on here?

Not sure if others have been trying this.. but one thing I found fun is to recreate recorded real landings by capturing the same landing in MSFS2020. And show side by side video playback. I was amazed at the detail and similarities. Here are a couple below.. anyone else try this?

Not sure what happened, but I noticed a few strange things lately with the sim. When viewing the globe, it doesn't show any airports or anything, I have to go to legend and hit f12 to turn them back on again, but now everytime I reload the sim, i have to constantly hit f12 to reset the legend back to default to get everything to show up again. the local time is always showing the same as UTC time, before it would show my actual local time instead which is about 7 hours behind UTC time. It can take more than 10 minutes to load up the game for me, some times i get a a file is missing error and i have to reboot and start again, Just wondering if its me or is it the big program loading up. Even after selecting a flight it takes 5 minutes before it take me to the fly now page. Is there a way to save my settings for a particular aircraft? Specifically I'm talking about my tail number / callsign and my failure settings. It's a pain to have to manually set these every single time I take a specific plane out for a flight. Ideally I should be able to set and SAVE these per plane, since different planes would have different callsigns and failure settings (for example, twin vs. single engine planes). I already Googled the topic, but found nothing. Thanks for any suggestions you might have! I'm totally cool with editing config files if that is what I must do.

I know there's an official SDK being worked on, but I wonder if anyone is planning to making their own 3rd party airport / scenery editor. I used such an editor back in FS2004 days, and I loved it for its simplicity and ease-of-use. I don't remember what it was called, but it was popular and allowed things like customized buildings and terrain at airports. I made a really nice rendition of my local airport back then using this tool! I'm interested only modding my smaller local airports, so no need for fancy things like animated ramps. The scenery in FS2020 is very nice but in KSGJ everything is right where it normally is except there is no control tower shown. You are talking to tower and ground but where the tower should be nothing is there. I fly out of this airport daily and so far this is the only major flaw I see in this scenery. JeffG

In midsize airports there is a clear vehicle chaos! Tags, tankers and utility trucks drives all over the taxiways and even on active runway! By the way in real life they have to talk to ATC just like any other aircraft if you need to drive along taxiway or runway for inspection. But hey I can live with that. However, when during take off roll, little son of a tag moves to the active runway and stop? Dude! Really? What is he thinking? LOL

The day simconnect is fixed there is gonna be a helluva lot of people flying on vatsim and pilotedge etc. I'm SOOOO looking forward to doing that again ❤️ The skies are gonna be filled!

Why can’t I go through the cabin with the cockpit view on all aircraft? I tried to navigate with the arrow keys through the cockpit, this works for any aircraft. In the TBM 930 I can navigate more then only through the cockpit - I can navigate completely through the cabin. In other aircrafts the camera stops immediately when I try to leave the “cockpit area”. I understand that it is not possible with aircraft without a modelled cabin view. What I do not understand: Why can't I navigate to the cabin and backseats with the Beechcraft King Air, Diamond DA62, Beechcraft Baron, and so on although the cabin view is simulated?! I know how to set the target airspeed in the CRJ, but I don't see a way of activating the setting to hold that speed. Does anyone know how to do it?

My CDI does not move when turning it on the AP panel. I have VOR1 selected as source and the VOR is alive but the CDI needle wont turn. Also are there any keyboard mappings for it? I couldnt find it

hi started the download over the night all went well (Xbox GamePass).I`ve lunched the MSFS2020 as Administrator, the sim loads and passed the "press any key to Start..." and the asked to download a 3,68GB update...please wait nothing happens. any fix please ?

A really good and a free airline manager; VAM https://virtualairlinesmanager.net/ is working with MFS2020 via FSUIPC7. You can have more immersion, economy and ACARS ( that reports your landing and flight details) are included. But , as you all know, due to FSUIPS7, a bit of FPS drop is the issue at the moment. Hope FSUIPC7 will be pdated soon. Happy flying.

I was scanning the news this morning and ended up at AOA Simulations Facebook page. There is a general statement about MS20 but, what really caught my eye is their T-7A Redtail and the early views of their V-22 Osprey (wip). Now those two could make a statement should AOA decide to bring either or both to MS20. Just a couple of days ago I was reading a firm commitment by DC Designs to bring a whole series of military jet fighters, including the F-14 Tomcat over to MS20 and the CONCORDE before year end. Does it get any better than this? Yes, we have a bright future with almost unlimited possibilities.
