Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Hi all, Some quick questions: * Has anyone noticed the CJ4 Range in the sim is quite low? In real life I can't even get 850 miles with a low payload + full fuel, but published range is closer to double that? * Anyone know how to increase the range of the MFD/PFD map? * Just checking the FMS seems rather basic/bare bones (e.g. the Perf INIT page doesn't really appear to be working at all)...is this expected? Is there anything available to get accurate fuel and passenger/cargo info for a flight that can be used for ZFW, etc.? Or is the plane not that complex?

Is there a way to do that so it could be tracked on software like FS-flightcontrol?

Is it possible to remove (or at least reduce) the heat simulation from the engines? I find it quite disturbing when viewing the wingview as "passenger". I understand the purpose but the effect is overdone and destroys the lovely scenery.

While there is a lot to like about the TBM in MSFS, it still suffers from the shortcomings of turboprop behaviour of the old days. Torque rises with altitude, ITT remains in lower ranges, Beta range doesn't seem to work. Does anybody know, if the SDK will allow for 3rd party developers to fix this or will our only hope be Majestic with the Q400 - provided their external simulation is possible in MSFS? Oh - and on a side note: the startup procedure is broken too: put the lever in taxi position prior to start in order to avoid a hot start.

So I noticed what I think is a bug that is causing the taxi and landing lights to not illuminate the ground within the interior cockpit view. I've only tried a few prop planes so far so not certain about all the other planes. If you go to external view and turn them on & off you can see them illuminate the ground quite well, but you'll notice from inside the cockpit they do not work. I see people not realizing this and thinking that the lights need to have more distance or strength but thats not the issue at all...try this... You can clearly see the bug while using the drone cam. Turn your taxi & landing lights on and then go into drone. Now move around …

So I load up a A320neo at the end of my favorite runway, not destination set. I apply full power and take off. I set autopilot 1 on and try set my altitude and heading. I get to 5,000ft and level out. I set my altitude to 34,000ft which stays. I set my vertical speed to +1,800ft/m but it keeps clearing after a few seconds. I set my heading to X but it clears after a few seconds. What the heck am I doing wrong??

I just noticed playing with the time is that trees don't cast their shadow on the ground. I expected to see some long shadows on sunset/sunrise. Did i missed something ?

I did some time in Orlando...in fact even worked at Disney World for a few years as a high school job (was very cool). Anyway....wanted to see how our new sim rendered my old employer.....but we'll take a leisurely flight out there before we get to the main attraction. Taking off from KMCO...was pleased to see Mr. BUFF just where he should be. I am really starting to dislike this game. 20h (without download time) in game and not 1 succesfull flight because some kind of bug must always appear. I can't toggle any buttons (2nd time happening) while I was almost 2 hours into my flight. I've tried everything I could think of. - Pressed ESC and resumed the game - Double clicked the mouse wheel button - Disconnected PS4 Controller - Checking Mouse settings The game crashed while I tried to look for fixes.

Hey everyone, After some installation woes, I finally got MSFS installed and up and running. 1. For graphics, would you use GeForce experience or the settings in game? I have a 980 TI (i7-6700K OC'd at 4.5) and a 32" 4K monitor - Nvidia recommends 1080p and low graphics settings, but I've been running at 4K with high settings, and it seems pretty good. Any suggestions? Should I just experiment and see how to get the best FPS? 2. Any recommendations/tutorials/videos on flying jets (a320, 787, etc)? 3. I think I made two mistakes, firstly buying the DVD version thinking it would be easy to install and next buying the Deluxe Premium version hoping to get a fully functional 787. Installation was a nightmare since I did not understand the relationship with MS Store, X-Box and installing from DVD. Eventually it seemed to install, but not sure what was downloaded after code redemption. Now it works, and I mostly like it but at every startup it tells me to "Please insert te MS FS2020 Game Disc". There is no such thing, but it gets happy if I insert DVD1. Does anyone now what this is about? If I had downloaded the whole thing there would in any case be no disc a…

For anyone using the release version of 2020... have you had active pause not work? I get a flight going, press the "pause" (/break) key and it does nothing. As that key is rarely used I tried a couple of online keyboard testers and the key itself seems to work fine. I'm using a completely stock install of 2020 with the default keyboard mapping. I was going to attach an image but I guess that can't be done here?

After almost one week of not having a single issue I find today that I cannot pass the opening screen,I press any key and it just asks me again over and over without starting. Anyone else encounter this issue??, I cannot log on to the MSFS forum, I get an error code.

Hey... does anyone have any thoughts on whether there's any downside to exiting FS2020 by using <alt>+F4 or closing the window vs. the "right" way? At the end of a flight the process of exiting via the main menu takes several minutes and it seems like a waste of time if you're just going to exit the program. But I'm worried exiting the fast way could break something...

Well, as far as FS2020 is concerned, the shine is off the apple, the honeymoon period is over, and I'm pretty sure it's dead rather than pining for the fjords. That or... it's "systems failure" model is incredibly realistic. 🤪 I'd pre-ordered 2020 I think the first day it was possible (from the MS store), and installed it the morning of the 18th.It worked well and in general I loved it, but right from the get-go, it had some weirdness with keyboard controls. Hi, I have been out of town for the past couple weeks, and now that I'm home, I want to get the new sim installed. What are the current best practices for purchasing? Is one store better than the other? Are there any impacts on our ability to get add ons? I'm leaning in the MS direction, because I'll probably get an Xbox at some point, but that isn't a priority. I don't have a lot of games, so having everything on Steam isn't an issue. I have seen a number of reports of installation issues. Is there some thing I should do to prepare for installation, or something I can do to avoid issues? Thanks.

I've never been so excised about flight simming since LM came up with P3DV4 breaking the memory problem and solving that for us. I thought I'll have issues with downloading sceneries while flying. So far, absolutely no issues. I do have 80MB/sec download speed via FIOS. The most amazing thing is, I could fly all over and I get phototextures with Autogens, without addons. The amount of addons I had to buy/install to get small areas around France for VFR France, The Frenchy Alps etcs in FSX and P3D. OMG.. now it comes via default scenery. That is amazing. Yeah..I'll be adding individual airport addons and aircraft addons like PMDG. Not sure if there is a way…

Have just flown a dawn flight from Kos to Cairo...the 5L ILS approach. The single best sim experience I think I’ve ever had. Cairo airport is out of this world. Got me thinking - I’m guilty of this too - complaining about such and such a building not being modelled or a city not being hand crafted, or photogrammetry. But flying over a huge expense of desert I reflected on the thought that anyone - from anywhere in the world - might fly over their village or house - no matter how obscure the location.
