Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Has anyone had any experience with this utility that is supposed to enable the creation of custom Landing Challenges in MSFS? I have downloaded it but the instructions in the readme are far from clear. https://github.com/dryjet/msfs-challenge-creator

Hi there! There's probably a lot of topics regarding this but can't find a straight answer... Why is it pitch black on default airport aprons during nighttime? Kinda ruins the immersion and can't seem to find Asobo having this in their "fix" list..? Anyone know of a mod or temp fix for this? I know every airport is different but hey.. worth a shot asking 😃

Nvidia has released a new version of their GeForce driver, 456.55, which is claiming to improve performance in MFS 2020. Just a FYI. I'm about to try it but doubt it will make much of a difference.

Once again I am uninstalling and completely reinstalling MSFS in order to get an update. So far none of the updates complete. Perhaps I am doing something wrong but sure have no idea what. I start MSFS and get a message that update is available. I am taken to MS Store There is a download bar, I click that and a download begins - about 668mb is downloafded I then click play (also tried exiting and starting MSFS from icon) and MSFS starts eventually it shows checking for updates and then the sim starts as usual still showing the old 1.8 build. Has anyone succeeded in tuning an NDB on the Garmin 1000 ? I found the frequency selector but did not see a response on the PFD......or did I not notice ! ? What does the indicator look like.? David

Hi guys, Am i the only one observing a significant drop in performance in the Mooney after the latest MSFS patch? While everything else gained performance the Mooney lost its smoothness. Must be something around 10-15FPS less for me. Best

In fact, so many things I cannot really fathom about this breathtaking new project, but when I fly over the amazing new photogrammetry-based Tokyo, taking in all the visual splendor and amazing detail in an entirely smooth flight, knowing that this does not even scratch the surface about what MSFS has to offer now and in the future, I feel we are being spoiled. I am looking forward to the day that even the study-level simmers are content (I do get some of their sentiments), but the technology and immersion in its current state and the promise for what it might become, I do realise we have landed in a new era of flightsimulation. It's a word now. 😉 It can be rather confusing to have taxiways named differently in the sim than on the charts. Especially since the taxiway signs are... Spotty at best. Any hope this is ever going to be corrected?

Hello. I just installed 100GB update and after that I am unable to see A320 and 787 liveries and mods for these aircraft as well. I dropped livery and mods files back to Community folder but nothing work. Liveries are still missing, mods seem don't take affect. Is there anything wrong in My community folder? Thanks

I don't know if this is related to the upgrade I installed this evening (Sept 29 - Steam) BUT... flying over San Diego airport, harbor, freeways - there is NO boat traffic, NO airport traffic, only one or two vehicles on I-5. I have all traffic, of any kind including AI, set to 100% but the waters, runways, and roads are devoid of anything interesting. I have all settings to High or Ultra, Terrain Level of Detail = 120. I flew back and forth along the KSAN runway at 2,000 for 30-minutes and never saw any movement at the airport and none on the water. Maybe there was no airport landing/takeoffs because there was a DHL 767 parked in the middle of the runw…

What's happened now with the A320 Neo. All my flight displays are blank. Turned up the brightness controls but nothing !!! Has anyone else seen this? Baz

I had been wondering about scenery order, priorites, merging of sceneries etc with MSFS, and figuring that in this new xboxy environment it would be somehow automagic, but then found a reference in a text file for a freeware scenery package to the order of a couple of things in the "content.xml" file. I wasn't aware of this, but have now had a look at the one on my system. I assume it works like xp's "scenery_packs.ini" file? Priority from top of file to bottom or vice versa? 'fs-base' is listed first, and I assume that is loaded first, so I guess that's the order the file works, i.e. entries listed further down the file override those above? Sorry if this is an…

I am running my I7-8700 and GTX 1080 not overclocked just to try and see what would happen. Why now do the micro stutters seem to subside. Not stop but more enjoyable? Ideas?

Finally! Surface winds in the USA are working. I can see waves on lakes, and the windsock is moving!! The weather still isn't live, it's maybe 4 hours old but it's a step in the right direction. Finally crosswind landings are possible.

Happened twice so far. On one occasion the vfr map didn’t ctd in two others it did. anyone else have this happen?

So first time in the King Air and for the life of me can't figure out how to set Nav frequencies or setup a flight plan? It has two touchscreens but no obvious way to go Dir TO, set waypoints, enter Nav frequencies??
