I reformatted my PC, and just about everything is good except for FS2004. I am using nvidia driver 258.96 (8800GTS 640), but it is not supported by nhancer. Therefore, I was wondering what nhancer compatible drivers I should use for right now? Thanks

I am getting a new graphics card on Friday and I want to know how to change them over. I know how to do the plugging in and all that, it's the software stuff I'm not sure about. My old card is ATI and the new one Nvidia. Do I just uninstall the ATI CCC software, take out the card, pop the new one in and install the new software?

Is it possible to have different screen resolutions for monitor and LCD TV?I have a Nvidia GeForce 8800GT card with 2 DVI outputs. My monitor is 19" with a resolution of 1280x1024. My TV has a resolution of 1920x1080.The PC is connected to the TV from the 2nd DVI port via a DVI to HDMI cable to a HDMI port on the TV.Setting the display to 'Configure independently...' both TV and monitor appear to be at 1280x1024 but the TV seems to be an extended (horizontally) desktop, not what I want.Is it possible to have the monitor display the full desktop at 1280x1024 and the TV display at 1920x1080?Thanks

Hey folks,my good ole 256MB nVidia 7900GS is a few years old and starting to produce more and more graphic corruption, not only in 3D but now also even in the O/S. Seems like it doesn't want to serve too much longer. Doesn't seem to run hot though, just above 40°C as far as I can tell. Furthermore FSX runs ok, but not great. Getting WAY more than enough frames when disabling AI, 3D clouds and enhanced Enabling some of these will degrade performance significantly, so it's ok for IFR which I do most but it could be better.Other than that I have an Intel [email protected] GHz, 8GB DDR3 7-7-7-20, whatever that means, 2 HDDs and I believe a 500W PSU. Nothing O/C'ed, nothing real…

I am having serious issues with my current graphics card (XFX ATI 4870 512mb). It produces lines of tiny red and black dots all over the screen and ATI support say it is most likely that is it about to die. I need to send it back for a warranty repair but I really cannot be without my computer for the 28 days the return would take. One potion I have come up with is to get a new graphics card now, send the only one for repair then sell it on when I get it back. I am thinking about what I would need to make the jump to FSX and still get good FPS. I was looking for the newest version of DirectX for a Vista64 OS as I am upgrading to the newest nVidia driver as I have been running nHancer with nVidia's 197.75 driver. I read a thread by Tabs regarding the new nVidia drivers which have eliminated the need for nHancer and in preparing for the update have found something interesting.I downloaded and installed the DirectX Redistributable February 2010, and now many months later I have run dxdiag to find a couple of peculiar things:DirectX tab is missing from the top of the Diagnostic Tool GUI.DirectX Version is registered as DirectX 11, huh? Here is the information that I saved from the DirectX UI:------------------Syste…

Just getting ready to load FSX on new computer (which includes an MSI GTX-460 video card). Any observations on which is the better route to go for getting the best visuals? There is the new "NVidea Inspector" v1.92 (which looks complicated). And there is NHancer which needs a workaround, i believe.....thanks, Bill.

Looking at purchasing a new display, the Viewsonic VX2739wm monitor is priced at $399 and has 1920x1080 resolution capable of displaying a native Full HD 1080p image and a 1ms response time.Compare that with a Sony BRAVIA 40" 1080p LCD HDTV KDL40EX400 which has the same 1920x1080 resolution and I am wondering which one would be better? Wouldn't there be less detail on the Sony because the image would be spread over a 40" wide display?Would it be worth it to purchase an DVI to HDMI cable or would that be overkill? Thanks,

Hi, so pretty much I turned on my computer this morning and it won't display anything. All the fans are running (louder than usual) and the lights are on everything. I tried resetting CMOS but that didn't work so I started taking parts out and testing. When I take out my graphics card, this time my computer sounds normal and the fans don't run so loud. Does that mean it's my graphics card that's causing no display? I don't happen to have a a spare graphics graphics card to so I'm not 100% if that's the problem (also, this motherboard doesn't have any integrated graphics to test with)What do you think?specs:e8400 3.5ghz9800 gtx+msi 750i mb750w psu4gb ram ddr2

Do nVidia verson 2##.## drivers give any improvemet over 19#.## versons for the GTX285? Usually when new drivers are available I just upgrade, however I get the impression that the 2##.## drivers are mainly addressing capabilities of the GTX400 series cards (???). All thoughts on this are much appreciated. I'm running both FS9 and FSX at 19020X1080 with a Q9650 at 3.86GHz (soon to be 4GHz with a better cooler), typically fly PMDG744.

I have a GTX275 using driver v196.21 which seems to run work well with my FS9. However, I haven't updated drivers in awhile and wonder if there's any advantage to using the newest v258.96? BTW, I do use nHancer for both FS9 (my primary flight sim) as well FSX. Thoughts? Thanks!

  17. Does this mean no more 480 GTX Blue Screen crashes with FSX? We can hope so, or is it only for XP users?According to page 6 in the official release notes of the new Nvidia 260.63 driver for Win XP, there is a fix for the blue screen death for 480 GTX users with Microsoft Flight Simulator. Finally, official help from above!!!Read all about it here:260.63 RELEASE NOTESKind regards,

Attention all shoppers: AMD (ATI) HD 6xxx specs are available!!!See: [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units#Northern_Islands_.28HD_6xxx.29_series]No idea as to accuracy, just reporting what I see.Of note: High-end cards now seem to sport sport 512-bit memory busses (2x 512 for the 2x GPU models), i.e. twice the previous 256, and I recall Phil Taylor saying memory us width was important for FSX.Cheers,-jahman.

Hi All,Looking for some advice on a minor graphics card update.I currently have a 7600GS 256MB card running on an E6600 CPU and 3GB RAM on WinXP.I'd like to stick with this system until I have the time/budget to build myself a new top-notch PC.Until then, I wondering if an upgrade to an 8600GT 512MB would help the smoothness in flight and complex airport sceneries in FSX? There's stil some of these old cards floating around so for a small investment of ~$30, would I see much gain in FSX performance? The reason for the 8600GT is my motherboard supports only PCI-e 1.0 and I may be limited by the power supply - right now the card plugs directly in the the mainboard with no ad…

  21. Hi everyone,I have seen a very large number of forum postings about this issue with which I am sure those of you having ATI cards of the 5000 series are familiar. I currently have an NVidia card but was thinking about changing to ATI 5770 1GB when I upgrade. This card is the most energy-efficient and best performing for the money today. But completely by accident, I saw an enourmous no. of people, with different system configurations, different games (not just FS), different graphics card mfg. all having this issue. The video cuts to a grey screen (possibly also with green lines across it) in the middle of a game, or even in 2D mode.Have any of you who had this proble…
