So I'm probably going to get myself a new graphics card for Christmas but I need some advice on a few cards. I'm really an nVidia fan when it comes to FSX the last two cards I've owned were both nVidia and I've only owned one ATI card. Here are the choices I'm looking at and I'd like to keep it under $200.Asus GTX 460 768mbGigabyte 460GTX 1GBMSI 6850 1GBXFX HD5830 1GBI've read the reviews of them all and I know ATI cards have some quirks with FSX but they can be fixed so now I'd just like to know general opinions on what to get and the brand name doesn't matter much as long as it's under $200ThanksAlex

hi alli am currently using a 22 inch monitor for FSX and was wanting to go up to a larger screen, do you think i should go up to a 27 inch at 1920 x 1080 or spend considerably more and go for the Dell and get awesome 2560 x 1600.My specs are Intel i920, 4 Gig of GSkill Ram, 1TB HDD, Zotac GTX 285.Regards

I currently run 3x ASUS LCD monitors through a TH2Go set up and was wondering if there was a better way? Is it possible to use a GTX480 and have 2 monitors plugged in via DVI and one using HDMI? If so do I need any special drivers and will FSX and FS9 recognize this type of set up?John

I have just changed from a MSI GTX285 to a Palit GTX460 and I find I cannot fly using full screen when in Windowed mode. It actually reduces in size giving a 4cm black strip down either side of the screen. If however I use DX10 it is OK.Has anyone got any ideas what is going on please?regardsRichard.

I want to use four monitors with a 5970 amd ati eyefinity 6, 4 gig card. I also want to connect the VR Insight pro pit to make it five monitors, I have been searching the net, info on the 5970 is there but very sketchy. I saw a youtube video, sadly in Italian, there appeared to be three monitors for the surround cockpit and one smaller monitor below the others to display the instruments. If anyone has any thoughts or directions, I would appreciate it.

Hi all,I am about to buy a new monitor and my question is if LED monitors offer a better picture compared to the TFT monitors. Is there any other advantage of the LED monitors? For example can somebody distinguish the difference between a 50.000:1 ratio of a TFT monitor to a 5.000.000:1 of a LED monitor? Thanks,Christos

I read in a post by Peter Hayes that he thought that vSync was a factor in causing stutters, and it may have been causing CTD's on my system. So I turned it off and have a smoother sim (even at KPDX by ORBX) and no more CTD's. My theory is that vSync causes FSX thread disruption and other timing failures resulting in a CTD.Can anyone verify or have another take on this?I also have a 580GTX and it seems to want to run wide open. TIAjja

Hi,I'm considering to buy a Led-TV as monitor, something like this:http://www.philips.c...=specificationsIt has an 32" diagonal and 1920x1080 resolution.(Currently I have a 26" montior at 1920x1200, so the 2D cockpit will be a little bit more distorted then my current one.)Does anyone have experience using a Led-TV as monitor for Flight Sim?Or should I go for a LCD TV?My view distance is 1m / 3ft. Is that too close for a 32"?

I'm using FSX w/3 monitors controlled by TripleHead2Go digital version. Everything works well with this setup. The only "quirk" I notice is that the two side monitors have, what appears to be, a moderate zoom effect for the outside views. For example, if I view clouds, or the aircraft wing, in either the right monitor or the left monitor, these objects appear somewhat larger and more elongated than viewing them in the center monitor, as I pan inside the cockpit.Strangely, this is effect is not noticed with the part of the 3d panel that appears in the right monitor. The main panel has the same size/dimensions across both monitors. It's only the outside view (clouds, wi…

Hi,I am looking for a new monitor for christmas. I would like some advice for what I should look for when buying a new monitor. I am using it for FSX only, I would like a widescreen, and a min. of a 23" screen. I would like to now what else I should look for when buying a monitor and if anyone has any suggestion on what monitors are good and if there are any I should stay away from. I would not like to spend no more than $250.Thanks,William C.

I would appreciate if someone could advise me on this card upgrade (just with FSX in mind). I do have a CORE 2 DUO E8500 at 3.16 GHz and a Nividia GeForce 8800GT 512MB DDR3.I plan to upgrade to an i7 CPU in a (not-that-close) near future (that will require new Mobo, graphic card, power supply and memories...). Meanwhile I would like to take advantage of the relatively low price of the graphic cards and get a 1 Gb GTX460 card to replace my current 8800GT 512MB.Is it likely that this card upgrade will improve FSX performance (just in the borderline now...)? Or else, should I forget this upgrade and definitely get an i7 CPU when I can afford it?Thanks!

I have read in several post on the EVGA forums describing how to return a GPU to use after overheating damage if the damage is not to severe. In my case a few months back NVIDIA aparently released a driver that caused GPU's to overheat (noted in the NVIDIA forum). I believe this happened to my GPU's and before I could shut the system down the temps climbed to around 95 degrees celsius. Temp max for my GPU's are at 90 degrees celsius with an operational range of 70C to 90C.Now one of the GPU's will not boot standalone (my system sees it as being in the wrong PCIe slot) and can only be used with another GPU in QUAD SLI mode where it loads and shows to be working properly. In…

OK, fellow FSX multi-monitor junkies. I give up, I cannot figure out how to get the results I am looking for so I hope someone here can help. I have five monitors hooked to three video cards. One monitor is just on a PCI card for instrumentation only and is working as I want it to. The problem is the other four that are all horizontally aligned. I have seen video on Youtube where aviators with these types of set ups are able to control the pan in the virtual cockpit on all the displays at once. I don’t know if there is software other than FSX and video card manufacturer involved. I want this ability. Currently I have to start a fight, and open three additional windows mov…

Hi. I have a new PC with specs as per my signature below. The GTX470 has drivers 126.099 (show as 8.17.12.6099 in Device Manager) installed. Like so many drivers I have tried before (on other PCs, other nVidia GPUs) they cause problems with FS9 (not tried with FSX yet). I asume it is the drivers that are causing the problems? Maybe someone might be able to advise?Firstly (and this is of course a general, not FS issue) when I change the nVidia Control Panel colour options (brightness, contrast etc.), setting are not saved after a reboot. The sliders are in the same position, but only come into effect after you move one slider and click 'apply' again. This means that I have…
