Hi all,I have a 3.06GHZ Core Duo 22" Imac with an ATI Mobilty Radeon 4670HD Video card. I gotten FSX to run run pretty good with the PMDG J41, Carenado CaravanHD etc.. As long as I don't use any clouds more than a few :( I got REX2 Extreme and only use the 512 clouds and still take a huge hit. I tried *******'s shader3 mod which is supposed to help those with ATI cards and performance. It helps a little, but not enough. Well to be honest I'm very frustrated now. Tim from Real Environment mentioned to me that my video card was hurting me and I think he is 100% correct. It is a 512MB card, however it still isn't making the cut in FSX. Is there anyone out there that knows i…

This may sound a bit of a dumb question, but I've been somewhat 'out-of-the-loop' for quite a while now.I'm currently running an nVidia 8800GTS 640Mb card and want to step up a bit. I know my CPU wont give any more FPS, but my AA and AF with modern addon aircraft is pretty naff.My question is, how many 'generations' is my card out of date? I really have lost touch with hardware specs the last few years.I certainly can't afford any of the latest generation cards, but thought if mine is a few behind, I could get something significantly better without breaking the bank.Any help or advice greatly appreciatedThanks

Hello All,I loaded up FS2004 on an Alienware M9700 laptop. The package runs great at roughly 70 FPS, however, its locked in basic settings, all sliders are gray and locked. You can click on them, but they do not move.I have asked around in tons of locations, from an Alienware section at 2 notebook sites, to nVidia's own forums (no one answered), and even asked Hal9000 from Aces who also had never heard of such an issue. A gentleman over at SOH had seen something like this with one of the CFS versions which had locked graphics settings with graphics cards that werent recognized by the game.COMPUTER: AMD 64 Turion chip, 2 Graphics cards; nVidia Go 7900 GS cards running …

Has anyone yet tried one of the new factory overclocked "Point of View TGT GeForce GTX 480 Ultra Charged" cards(built from selected chips by the legendary tuning expert Hans Wolfram Tismer) for FSX? Its GPU/Memory frequenciesare set to 760/3800 Mhz. Point of View TGT GTX 480 Ultra ChargedPoint of View POV TGT Series at FudzillaI'll probably buy one in a few weeks to replace my HD 5870.

Gentlemen,I have greatly enjoyed my TH2G system with three monitors. At the moment, I am using an ATI 4870/512 video card. Will something newer or with more memory help with framerates?

I currently have an i5 quad 3.2 CPU with a Nvidia 250 GTS 1.0 gig and looking to buy and install a new nvidia 470 1.2 qig ddr5 I believe and was wondering what sort of performance increase that I might see in FSX. I get a pretty steady average of 20 FPS with pretty high sliders now and REX HD clouds and lots of high end airport scenery. FPS may briefly drop to lower teens in the high density airports but typically high teens to mid twenties . . . Just curious if the 470 GTX will provide a marked improvement in fluidity and FPS performance?ThanksJoe

Hi Guys,I have a 9600 GT and was wondering if an upgrade to a 460 GTX would give a significant boost in both performance and visual quality in FSX.The rest of my system is E8500 @ 4ghz,4GB DDR2 RAM,Windows XP SP3.I run FSX at 1440x900 since it's the max resolution of my monitor. Thanks for any advice.Richard

Hi AllI'm thinking about a graphics card upgrade to my current 8800GTX.I have a good system at the moment that comfortably runs most sliders to right at approx 27fps.However, I throttle this back to 20fps to give the CPU some breathing space for other tasks. This generally works really well and gives a very smooth simming experience with no FPS drops, micro-stutters etc. However, there's one issue that's preventing me from having FS9 Nirvana. Whilst flying overphoto-realistic scenery such as Aerosofts's Mallorca X, I experience ground texture tiles that simply refuse to sharpen, but remain blurry. Interestingly, if I re-fly the flight, it'sthe same tiles that do this. I ca…

Dear Whom May read this,I have been getting some poor frame rates in the past month or so. After all, I found out that I had a 256 MB graphics card. I went to FRYS electronics store to check out some of there cards. There were many I wanted but it they weren't in my budget. Can you recommend me a graphics card that is in this range? Thanks:- 1024 MB card-Dual Monitor capability: DVI and DVI OR DVI and VGA -Decent overclocking -100 dollars (USA) *note: the card should be under one hundred dollars NOT all of the price like the tax or shippingThanks for helping me out! Hi:As this is video card related (I think) I thought it best to list here.I'm running FS9, PMDG 737 and FS Global 2005. Frames rates are set to 21 and I consistently get 21 frames with the exception of ariports where frames can reduce to 15.I find that when in 2D panel view and airborne, when rolling (changing direction of aircraft) the outside scenery seems to stutter and pause for a second before lurching to its nerw position. The lurch is only 1/2 a centimeter or so. It's not that annoying, but it never used to do this until recently. It only occurs on rolling as the scenery changes.I have played with settings and this does not alter the lurching screen.Any ideas??…

Greeting ALLI am trying to set up 2 monitors (currently do not have enough place for 3) with a TripleHead2Go. On Vista 64 bit, using a single Video Card (Nvidia)The TH2G by default spans only over 3 monitors, and the software update at Matrox to set it up for 2 monitors is only for XP.Does anyone know how I could set it up? Appreciate any suggestions.

I have a triplehead2go and its real taxing on the system. I know both my cpu & vid card are bottlenecks but i think the vid card is the bigger bottleneck without enough memory to handle everything going on on 3 screens. Besides its less expense to upgrade the vid card rather than a cpu and mobo. The sliders that make the most difference are scenery complexity from sparse to normal and texture resolution from 1m to 7cm. Water and autogen also have to be kept at very low levels. KSEA is at 10fps with minimum acceptable settings for me (20% mtx traffic, 3840x1024 dx10 with 3.0 shader hack which improves weather speed a huge amount on my ati). It climbs to 20fps as i …

Greetings all,I've recently upgraded to Vista64, and am no longer able to span my view across my monitors. I know (now) that changes in the Vista driver architecture prevents using 2 monitors on one video card for span mode. After giving UltraMon a whirl (did nothing) and after spending hours trying to configure and get SoftTH to work (which worked, but still renders as though there's a third monitor, leaving my menus inaccessible as they're being 'displayed' on a monitor that doesn't exist). After all this, I've decided that I'm going to need to purchase an external piece of hardware to get the span mode I've become so accustomed to in XP. I've been looking at both the T…

Hi,I'm looking to upgrade my desktop as it doesn't seem to cut it anymore, especially when it comes to games like Empire Total War ( gotta luv it! ).It's getting kinda irritating Yes, i've checked and theres no software jamming.I've read a lot of different stuff about this machine but people inn here seems to know their stuff so...I happy with my prosessor. But i'd grateful for some pointers on graphic card: like how much more eye candy can i expect to get out of ETW and the new one ( Shogun something like that )with maxed out memory and graphics ( preferbly without installing a beefed-up PSU ).Heard the 250GTS is good but wolut it fit without a power upgrade ( not doing…

Hi. I currently have FS9/FSX on a Dell gaming laptop (XPS M1730), which has an amazing 17" 1920x1200 screen - very sharp, 'concentrated' image. I have just bought a new PC, solely to run FS9 (and FSX, though I fly it far less often) - specs as at the foot of the post.I already have a HannsG 22" monitor I can use on the new PC. It has a resolution of 1680x1050. I am wondering whether to buy another HannsG monitor, it's 28* and has a resolution of 1920x1200, like my XPS laptop. What would people recommend, assuming the quality of the monitors are roughly equal? I want the sharpest image I can reasonably get: but wouldn't the advantages of an increased resolution, from 1680x…

Amazing how much trouble it is to get FSX to run. With my older system with a 4870 1GB card FSX runs great. This GTX295 runs my games great, but NOT FSX.In FSX I get spikes that come and go. I tried 5 freak'n driver releases and still have these spikes. I run the driver settings at the default level in novidia control panel.I tired turning of the Phyx setting too and even tried differenet settings in FSX. What gives? This is with FSX SP2.Any ideas would be appreciated. Just can't wait for the new ATI cards. :(

Hi there, just wanted to point out that according to Unwinder, the developer of MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner + my own expirience there are still MAJOR problems with CrossfireX!The readme of version 1.51 The problem still exist from today, have removed the second hd5850 and the system is really 'flying'.The readme confirms my own observation that the cpu is stressed! No, the cards are NOT overclocked!ATI has to shame them selves not already solved this? I mean, i have bought an second hd5850 for what?Edit: yes, contacted ATI techsupport and they are playing dumb, they do not know that for instance clouds are THE major issue concerning FSX, asking me to install everything a…
