Hi,Well, looks like the Galaxy EVO 1250 watt power supply I purchased from Newegg is bad. Unbelievable, I've wasted days testing and retesting just to find the problem and rule out the power supply. So far I've purchased an Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard, two EVGA 480 video boards that were returned for two Asus 480 boards, a 1250 watt power supply that has to be returned to Newegg for a replacement and a new I7 980X processor. Now I have to wait on an RMA from Newegg, ship the P/S to them and then wait for a replacement. More wasted time!.All this just to run FSX on three monitors at a higher resolution. I must be out of my mind, there are time (like now) when I wish I "N…

I just bought a Samsung 23" LED monitor to replace my old 19" non-widescreen and I don't know if like going to widescreen or not. It just seems that the screen is too big and that my eyes seem to want to dart all other the place. I understand that most 2D panels will stretched in widescreen unless specifically made for it, but the outside of the plane looks great. But I'm really having trouble getting used to the larger and wider screen. I've only had the new monitor for two days and I have two weeks to return it. A couple of people have told me that it will take me some time to get used to the new screen and that I'll never want to go back to a square monitor. I'm hoping…

Hi all,First off, my apologies if this is a a question that has been flogged to death in the past. I've researched so many websites and forums each with an overwhelming amount of well educated suggestions. Sadly, the way the computer industry advances in short periods of time, much of the information and suggestions are outdated. This information overload has left me dumbfounded to say the least.I am new to the FSX family, but very excited about making the most out of the experience and enjoying it to the max. I respect that much of the enjoyment comes from skill and the actual flying, but no one can deny that a fluid and rich textured flying environment only enhances the…

Hi all. I'm thinking about going to a GTX480 and would like to know if I can just swap the cards over or do I need to change anything?Power supply is a Thermaltake 850w and I'm running Windows 7 64. Will all the leads match? That sought of thing.Dave.

Im using TH2Go for my triple monitor setup. I would like to add two extra monitors on the sides for the side windows. Can this be done ?I know of dual TH2Go setups and ATI Eyefinity cards that support up to 6 monitors per single card. However, all I see is 3 monitors for virtual cockpit and extra monitors for instrument panels or outsides views etc.Is it possible to run 5 monitors in horizontal configuration spanning virtual cockpit ?Thanks.Jacob.

Does anyone have or can anyone recommend a good 24" monitor with 1920x1200 resolution? Seems like all manufacturers are going with 1920x1080p these days but I find the extra height resolution to be helpful.thanksjim v

I have been using a i7 930 with a GTX 480 for about a month and the results were excellent. I replaced the i7 930 with a i7 980X and the system seemed to be working very well. I did not give it a real checkout as I was designing scenery for lanai for over a month and not flying very often. I then noticed some odd artifacts in the FSX graphics when slewing. Flashes on the screen and scenery anomalies. I did some standard approaches to airports and would see the graphics problems pop up every so often. Runways lighting up white at auto-gen distances and horizontal and vertical streaks that would flash across the display for a few milliseconds. At other times there is absolu…

Hello,I've recently purchased the Beech Duke B60 by realair and see that it recommends having bump mapping and reflection mapping enabled. I can see by looking at my plane in VC that the surfaces are dull and flat so I'm assuming I have these settings disabled. I'm using the latest nvidia driver 258.96 for my GTX460 card. How do I enable these features?ThanksJimAlso, I've imported Nick's settings http://gex.flight1.net/NVIDIA_Profiles_C16xS.zip using gforce SLI importer but have no idea how to edit this if this is in fact the problem

HelloHas anyone had any luck getting surround vision to work using two gtx460's? I've recently bought two and can't get them to work with my 3 dell 22" monitors. Do all the monitors have to the same? I have (2) 2209WA dells and (1) P2209, same resolution for all (1680X1050). When I try to "span displays with surround" I get through the next screen showing me that my displays are connected properly but when I hit Apply all screens go black... and they don't come back! I have to push and hold the start button to restart. I'm using the latest nvidia driver, 258.96. Anyone with any ideas would be appreciated. My system:Window 7 64biti7 @3.86mb ram 1600 mhz(2) gigabyte gtx460 …

I've tried using the nvidia control panel and selecting override game setting, I've tried Nick's tweak and Tabs in the PMDG forum. But AA isn't working for me if I uncheck it in-game. Is this normal for the later Nvidia driver versions to have to check the anti-aliasing box in the fsx settings?

Hey Guys,I have an i7-860 and an ati 5850 running my fs setup. The 5850 works well with FS2004, and FSX, however when it comes to clouds in FSX, all my expectations were shattered. The fps drop from 30 to 13, and it becomes very hard to fly. I have downloaded and installed bojote's Shader 3.0 mod, as well as changed CCC settings (10.7 driver)....but no luck.Any ideas?Jeff

Hi,I am getting a BSOD with the above message and nv4_display.dll as the culprit. I just replaced my 2Gb Corsair RAM with 4Gb Adata RAM (couldn't get Corsair!) and a Gainward GTX 460 instead of my trusty old 9800GT. I've read what I could find about the above message and there seems to be no definite solution. Some facts:- VGA mode is working so I assume it is neither the card not the RAM to blame- I have a 700w power supply- Intel dp455g mobo- plenty of ventilation (a huge Zalman mounted on the C2D 8500 CPU)- everything is clean inside- tried both drivers, the one supplied with my Gainward GTX 460 and the new official nVidia 258.96- nothing is overclocked, been running …

Hi folks. I'm having a problem with my 480 with it constanly crashing to the desktop with a fatal error. The error code I get is nvd3dum.dll. Anyone have any ideas? Driver wise I use 257.21 but have also used 258.96 and get the same issues.Cheers,Ross

Greetings,Approx 9 months ago I got a new system and monitor to run FSX. The monitor is a 26" Asus. The monitor is connected to my computer via HDMI. No sense in having a high resolution computer and not using a HDMI cable, right? Shortly after putting everything together, everything worked great but I started getting an occasional no HDMI signal error message on my monitor. The only way to get the monitor to work is by re starting the computer several times and usually the message would go away and the monitor would work. The problem with this problem is that it also occurs when the computer restarts itself. In other words, if I turn the computer off and then on…

Hi All -Would appreciate thoughts on a GTX285 vs. GTX470 for FSX. The thing is they are actually priced about the same right now. Nominally you would think to go with the 470 in that regard of course, but with DX10 constrained FSX is it safer to go with the 285 from a driver standpoint etc. The real benefits for the 470 appear to be marginal from what I have read here and I do not need DX11 for anything else. Would I be better off with the 285 since it is optimized for DX10 only, etc.? It is curious to me that they are priced comparably. Thanks,Fred

Just curious as to whether or not FSX will run ok with a newer dual-gpu card, meaning no micro-stuttering, and with AF and AA working.

I was looking around in the Aerosoft forums which I was actually looking for information on their work in progress, when I came upon this topic http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=30796Has anyone here put this ATI 4650 card to the test with fsx recently?

Hi,Hopefully I'm getting into the final leg of this graphic card change...Long story, short; had to change graphic card from nVidia 9800GX2. First got a ATI HD 5890, which was terrible. Now have a nVidia EVGA GTX 480 Superclocked edition. Running FS9.1, Windows XP SP3, Quad Q6600 o/c to 3.2. Latest graphic card drivers and motherboard drivers. Playing in full-screen mode. nHancer enabled. My problem: The FPS is great for a few minutes, then drops drastically (from 60 FPS to 11 FPS). If I "alt-tab" to the desktop and come back, it goes back up to 60 FPS, but only for a few minutes. The same happens when I hit "alt" to go to the menu. Is this some kind of texture l…

So, as per a post I wrote a little while ago, my trusty old nVidia 9800GX2 burnt out, so I was forced to buy a new card.Decided on the XFX HD 5970, which is supposed to be the absolute best thing on the market. But the idiots designed the thing 13 inches long, so it wouldn't fit in my case.I had to settle for the HD 5870, a card several generations newer than the 9800GX2. It's a single GPU, instead of the 9800GX2 2 GPUs, but it still should be faster, according to the specs. Not so...Slightly lower frames (5-15 fps) and the textures are not as crisp. Is this possible?!? No way this thing can be this bad....Is there something I'm missing? Are there any great ATI tweaki…

Hello, I'm currently running an EVGA GTX470. I'm going to take advantage of the step up program and move to a GTX480. This means I'll be without an Nvidia card for about a week. I have an old ATI card that I could use as a back up. Not for flying but just for web surfing. My question is, if I uninstall the nvidia drivers, am I safe to install the ATI drivers without having to do a full Windows 7 reinstall? I have an old laptop that I could use in the interim, but I would prefer to use my desktop. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
