Hey guysMy setup right now consist of a gtx 260, main forward view with two displays, and an old gts 8800 as a secondary for panels and such. the question is, if I upgrade the primary to the gtx 460 1 gig, and replace the the 8800 with the 260, would there be any performance increase for the secondary? ThanksEric

I have upgraded to a 460 GPU and considering over clock. I am looking for input from current users and their experience with over clocking. As listed in signature belove I have an I-920 overclocked to 3.8 and use windows 7. I only use this system for FSX. I am only interested in performance and not bragging rights. I use Nick's tweaks for system setup. So what do you guys think? Is the performance worth the effort to overclock and if so you recommendations on settings for a safe overclock Please.

I am playing with the idea to switch from using a 24" LCD to a projection system for use in a new spare room- have very nice wall-space-real-estate that can now be utilized. :) Ive not been able to find any reviews of projectors online with specific attention to FS9/FSX. If anyone here is using a projector and/or instead of LCD/CRT, please let me know what you have and your opinions on it. Any input and advice is greatly appreciated!Cheers & Happy Skies everyone!

I have a gigabyte motherboard with 1 PCIE-X16 video slot and 1 PCIE-X8 video slot. CPU is E8400. Card is ATI 4890. The manual states if you are using 1 video card place it in the X16 slot. That is where it is. The 2nd video card goes in the X8 slot. With 2 video cards the manual says that the 1st video card will then operate up to X8 only. I want to go to 3 monitors. Other then the degradation from 3 monitors, does this 2nd video card then degrade performance?JimCYWG

Have just upgraded my graphics card from a ASUS 9800GT (factory OC) to a Gigabyte 470GTX (factory OC) and while it is early days two things stand out. Firstly no noticeable improvement in IQ and FPS which is disappointing after all the hype over fermi (CPU is i7 960 unclocked) - much greater improvement in IQ when I upgraded from a dual to a quad although not much change on FPS. Secondly, I am now seeing an annoying display anomaly in the VC of some aircraft (eg LDS 767, F1 Mustang), where any narrow vertical lines, particularly those in gauges, appear fuzzy or shimmering or broken in to line of dots when not viewed from directly in front. AF is set to 16x using nvidia…

To begin with, here are my PC specs:Intel core i7 950 @ 4ghz6gb DDR3 1600ATI Radeon HD 5850As you can see it's a fairly stout system. However I have noticed that, for some reason, clouds in FSX absolutely cripple my system if it's more than partial cloud cover. My PC is capable of running very detailed sceneries and aircraft and a locked 30fps constant without sweat (outside of major airports with heavy traffic, as we all know). However as soon as any overcast conditions or stormy weather are present, they will bring my framerate down into the 10-15fps range in a snap. Having high or medium 2.x water (which reflects the clouds in the surface of the water) makes it eve…

Currently I use the 197.45 drivers with my GT285. My GTX 480 is on the way. What driver version should I plan to install for this card? I hear the latest has some issues. Should I plan on 257.21?

Good morning all:I transferred fsx to a new computer a few days ago. Everything works well in single monitor mode: However, when I open a new view in my second monitor, the clouds and ground in my MAIN monitor become corrupted with geometrical shapes - not immeditaely, but after about 20 seconds. When I close the second monitor, the main monitor view restores itself. I'm running win7 64The only thing different is an upgrade to REX Overdrive and the addition of ultimate traffic. I'm still using the old Nvidia 9800 GT video card. I've tried a 470 as well - same problem.(I do have a new mobo ASUS PT 6 deluxe.) I've run all the updates and am frankly baffled!.Thanks fo…

I don't know why AMD is doing this, but I feel it worthwhile to point out that the new Radeon 6870 and 6850 coming out very soon are meant to be successors to the 5770 and 5750 cards. There is another release cycle coming soon after that will introduce 6970 and 6950 parts meant to succeed the 58xx series of cards. Maybe AMD hopes to sucker people into buying the 68xx series?? Sometimes the way companies name their components really makes no sense to me. Intel and AMD have also been horrible at their CPU numbering schemes in the past. Bleh.

HiI have a NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX that cost me a lot of coin and now the overpriced sack of monkey vomit has cooked itself. I pulled it apart and it had eff all heat transfer compound around the GPU and what was left was grey and a bit like blue tack. I'm haveing no joy getting any warranty out of NVIDIA, they say it has to be dust causing the problem and wont have that it was built poorly. It aint dust as I'm religous about keeping my puter clean. So now I'm left with a dud card (10 bucks says no way I can buy a replacement GPU chip n bung that in) and having to outlay more cash to get a new one. The local computer guy wants to sell me a GTX 460 which is supposed to be be…

Hi all,Some help appreciated!Upgraded my GPU driver to 260.99 and applied some suggested settings to the Nvidia Inspector for FSX (NickN's). The problem is that I receive small blurries in the terrain textures. They are not clear. Also the fonts in the cockpit instruments and the screen messages (FPS, brakes etc) appear not clear and are almost difficult to read.Previously I had the nhancer settings with my older driver and had a much clearer picture.Any suggestion? Thanks,Christos

Hi guysPlease look at this pictures. It started couple of days ago, i don't know exactly, what i made wrong, may be it was that i tried to bring AI traffic (Aerosoft MyTrafficX) to life in FSX, so i changed dll.xml(according whit Aerosoft support)Or may be i've done something wrong with scenery library? Not sure... I think it is rather software problem than hardware. Then i deleted FSX.CFG. At first it was ok, then the same story. I also downloaded latest drivers for graphic card.1) AI planes don't have coloure2) surface of airport (it is Heathrow) is blue (it is the starting page of the FSX). It lasts only couple of seconds, then it is ok. And buildings are emerging from…

Hi,After alot of deliberation I finally decided to format my pc (again)! to get FSX to work properly. I have already done it this year with great results. However, this time everything has gone back in more or less trouble free but I can't seem to get FSX working on 3 screens. I have the Matrox triple head to go Digital edition with 3 analogue screens. When I first booted the pc up the screens were all working but not in gaming mode. After hours on end of tweeking I have drawn a blank. The thing that sticks out is the pc does not seem to acknowledge 3 screens being there. Now I have the centre screen working and thats it!!Any ideas? It is driving me mad! Thanks for an…

When I was using a Nvidia 8800GT card I could take screen grabs of FSX running on Vista with Screenshot Captor http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/screenshotcaptor/index.htmlI used Screenshot captor because it would capture full screen, unlike other free screen grabbers I had tried.I have replaced that card with a Nvidia GTX460 and now if I grab a screen with FSX running full screen I just get a black screen.Screen Hunter does the same.Does anyone have a solution?

For those of us waiting for something that can deliver a bit more than the current high =end (480GTX) is this latest "Rumor" of a December launch of the GF110 to counter ATI's new 6XXX:GeForce GTX 580 based on a GF110 GPU will exploit 512 CUDA cores, 2GB of GDDR5 memory (512-bit memory bus) 128 textures units and a better cooling solution. Green-team anti-ATI tactics or not I'm thinking to hold out till the dust settles - this could get interesting
