Hello,I'm planning a new rig (i7 2600K based) and cannot choose between theses cards! Here are th best prices here in switzerland for each card (convert in USD):- GTX460 (1GB): 200$- GTX470:265$- GTX480: 420$- GTX570: 410$- GTX580: 619$So, regarding theses prices and the performance of theses different cards in FSX, what is the best choice for me (I' 99% sure that I will not buy the 580, too expensive!)many thanks for your help

Anyone have the new GTX 580 installed yet? How is it performing with FSX?Very close to buying one of these cards. Also any opinions on what 2 of them would be like in SLI? I know the reivews in SLI so far are fantastic for GPU heavy games but how would this translate to performance in FSX?Regards,James

A week ago I got a new GTX470.Works great in FS9. Works great in FC2. Works great in DCS A10C.Performance in FSX is great minus one issue that annoys me a lot. When in FSX DX9 mode the 2Dpanel gauges are blurred. When running DX10 they are clear. Running the latest 260.99 Nvidia drivers. Went through 4 or 5 different versions of drivers. They all display the same blurred 2D gauges. Tried all the workarounds with Nvidia inspector etc. found on the SImflight forums. No luck. Here are two screenshots to illustrate the issue :FS9 or FSX-DX10 mode FSXDX9 modeAnybody have any suggestions folks ?Thanks

I use two monitors, a 28" and a 22". The smaller one I use in FS9 for FSNav and other such programmes, whilst running FS9 on the larger one.In FSX I have a problem, in that as soon as I go to full screen view (and if I don't, I get performance issues, in any case I hate flying in windowed mode) my second monitor immediately goes black and so any programmes like GMap I want to see whilst I am flying (to know where I am - like FS Navigator in FS9!) disappear. This doesn't happen with FS9 - I can see the 2nd. monitor just fine with FS9 in full screen mode.Does anyone know how to fix this? Maybe it's a driver issue?? My PC specs are as below. Thanks,Martin

HiI switched from WinXP to Win7 Ultimate 64 bit.Everything works Ok, except VGA drivers for my ATI 5770. It works normally, but in fs9 in some cases I have a problems. When I'm in fullscreen mode (fs9) and for example I want to pop up for example IVAP panel, it does not come instantlly. First I have 2 sec delay with ghost image. I'm not sure is it enough clear what I mean. With WinXP when I pressed CTRL+F9 for IVAP panel to show I had instant pop up of IVAP.With W7 when I press CTRL+F9 inside Fs9 (full screen) first I have ghost image of previous screen and after 2 sec IVAP shows.Anybody with advice :-)I'm using CAT 10.11.thanksEdin

After sitting on my shelf for nearly six years, I have finally installed FSX with my new build. So for the last few weeks I have researching all the tweaks out there. Lot's n lot's of reading - whew! :Whew: So I almost had my AMD 6970 just where I wanted it but not quite so I bought today an EVGA 580 to make some comparisons. Gawd, I haven't used an Nvidia card since my P3 days so I am starting from scratch. So I installed it ok, looks very good. But isn't there some Nvidia default program equivalent to AMD's Catalyst Contol Center? I'm still reading up at the Nvidia site for some type of utility download. Reading here it seemed like there is also Nhancer. So I d/l t…

I just had my high end ATI card burn up on me an needed to finish some work I was doing before tomorrow morning. So there is a local computer reseller here and the best card that he had was a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450. It cost about a 90 dollars and I grabbed it out of necessity and could use a bit of help.I've never owned an NVIDIA card before and this appears to be a run of the mill one. After I finished my work, I tried FS9 and boy is it horribly aliased and ugly. For the fun of it, (and because I'm going to end up keeping it as a spare), I'd like to give this card a run for it's money and see just how well a lower end card can do with FS9. So any help on how to properly …

Hi Folks - I'm interested in the Evga GTX 460 1gb video card with External Exhaust (lifetime warranty). I've read that some feel it's too noisy and was wondering if anybody here has had some experience with them? Please let me know what you think of the card especially about it's noise level. My new computer will only accept cards with up to 450 watts and this card and its lifetime warranty seems like a good match. Also I've read some very good reviews of it.Thanks in advance.... Howard

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the subject. I was looking at the Evga web page and they are showing 2 variants (actually 3 if include the water cooled version) of the 580 GTX.1: 580 GTX standard http://www.evga.com/...es%20Family&sw=GPU clock: 772 MhzMem clock: 3900 Mhz2: 580 GTX Superclocked http://www.evga.com/...es%20Family&sw=GPU clock: 797 MhzMemory clock: 4050 MhzLooking at the specs on the Superclocked version, it doesn't seem so much of an increase over the standard version. But as I am no expert on the matter, I was hoping some of you could share some insight on whether its worth it to go Superclocked or to just go for the standard var…

Pentium Core2Duo 2.6Ghz 3Gigs of RAM, and NVidia GTS450 (brand new) graphics running FSX. All drivers and programs up to date. Computer is clean and optimized, as well as un-needed programs disabled. This does not occur in FS9 or any other program. I don't want to reinstall FSX if I can avoid it.The problem started occurring once-in-a-blue-moon (can't recall when, but certainly before my new card), then more frequently. Now I can't run FSX without these flashing mix of (can't describe it) textures. Occurrences vary, sometimes there, sometimes not, almost always seems to be related to ground textures, though it has happened for me cruising at 16,000 feet in VC (to th…

My old computer crashed and I bought a Dell 9100 XPS but it has a radeon 5700 graphics card. Can anyone give me any pointers/settings to increase the performance of this card when using FSX. I mainly fly PMDG related software and I don't know any of the settings in MSFS FSX to use. I used to have a 6600 quad core with a nvidea 8800GT and it was great. Any ideas would be most welcome!!jen

I have an E8500 processor running stock and I have recently gotten a NVidia GTX 460 OC, I was trying to get the GTX 285, but there are scarce or set at the price of a new GTX 570. After getting the NVidia GTX 460 OC I read that since I am running stock the video card will cause bottle-necking for the CPU/Memory.Specs:ASUS P5Q Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P45 Intel MotherboardIntel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model (running stock)BX80570E8500Thermaltake CL-P0401 110mm Fan CPU Cooler4 Gig OCZ Reaper memory 1066MhzBFG 8800GT 512meg (former card - still available if necessary)1x HDD WD Caviar Black SATA 750Gig 32meg cache 2x HDD WD Caviar Black…

Would you recommend me to buy a 21.5 or 24" monitor for FS? Either the Benq G2420HDBL 24", or G2222HDL 21.5". Both are 1920x1080.Now I have a 19", 1440x900.Is 24" too big when having the screen on the desktop? I have a 22" LCD TV now in my small apartement, maybe I will feel my TV becoming smaller if sitting so close to a bigger screen for my computer...I can afford the bigger one, it's just about a 40 euro difference, so the price doesn't matter.

Screenshots are not enough for me to show the actual fps in FSX.... so... I made a video to share my performance increase using the tweak shared by PingPong... (Thanks man!!!)...During the recording with fraps I was getting around 13~15 fps... that means that without fraps my average fps were around 24~28 in heavy areas using Orbx's scenery (Portland and Seatle)...If anyone can do the same thing to show the performace increase it will be wonderful... Remember to check my settings in the video (UT2 and other addons)...P.S. I forgot to mention that the Cloud Draw Distance in FSX was 110mi/176km...Dexter...

Has anyone figured out what the difference is in multi-monitor setup between FS9 and FSX? I can get FS9 to work exactly as I want, but not FSX.I have WinXP SP3 with NVidia GTX series graphics as a basis. My main monitor is a 24" Widescreen LED, and my 2nd monitor is just a basic 17" LCD display set up in dual-view mode. With FS9, I can have FULLSCREEN on my main display, and have PDF tutorials, weather programs, checklists, etc...on my 2nd display. In FSX I can't do this - only a blank screen which is usable only to transfer my aircraft's panels over - which is fine, except when I need to reference outside programs. FS9 still allows the panel components to be transfe…

Looks like the GTX 580 can't hack it at very high multi-monitor resolution with 4x FSAA or higher. Not enough memory. Keep in mind, this is a triple 30" so it represents the uppoer echelon of multi-monitor, obviously not mainstream.I am glad I read this thread since I am looking at Eyefinity and preferably higher levels of FSAA. HiI bought a GTX 460 to replace my 8800GTX that burned out.The new card is seated correctly in its slot (same slot as the old one came out off) and the two power plugs are connected and secured.Problem is when I reboot and try to install the driver I get an error message that says it cant find the card.Ive tried reinstalling the card but the system wont recognise it. Have I cocked something up or is the new card a dud?TIADannielle

Hi EveryoneMy gpu seems to be struggling with some fairly intensive airport scenery (Orbx YSCB). It has been suggested that my GTX 285 is not up to the task and I should consider one of the 480 or 580 series cards.I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts on this and if an overclock of my card is an option instead or even a way of delaying the inevidable need for a new gpu until I have some funds saved up.I am running an i7 975 OC'd to just short of 4.3Ghz.If an overclock of my card is an option, can anybody point me to a thread or give some advice on what to do, what programmes are needed etc. I have Rivatuner, can I manually oc with this?CheersBarra
