I suppose one answer is that it is hopeless, but I want to give it a shot with a i7-2720qm and one of these cards. Info from notebookcheck.net:The NVIDIA NVS 4200M (or NVIDIA Quadro NVS 4200M) is a business graphics card for laptops which is most likely based on the same core as the GeForce GT 520M. According to the Nvidia Homepage, the 4200M is allowed to be clocked up to 810MHz, compared to the 550MHz of the GT 520M. The NVS series is optimized for business applications and stability and may therefore perform a bit worse in games due to the special drivers and BIOS optimizations. As the GT 520M, the NVS4200M should support PureVideo HD (VP4) to accelerate HD vi…

I have an older dual core system and and ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card with Windows 7 32 bit. FSX works great on my 22 monitor running alone, but as soon as I start FSX with the dual monitor (the other monitor is 19" 1280x1024) mode both screens act like they are refreshing, but the system reboots. Dual monitors are good until I start FSX.

Guys,I've been doing some reading around this forum on GPU's during the last few days trying to gather some info. The GTX-580 has received some very good reviews for fsx. I recently upgraded from the GTX-460 to the GTX-560 Ti. My performance has not increased, and in fact may be a little worse. This isn't backed by data, just that gut feeling you get. Needless to say, I'm considering selling the card and upgrading again. Do you guys think given my system below, I would see significant performance improvement going to the 570 or 580? I run two Dell 2007 WFP monitors at 1680 resolution. In other news, I plan to tweak my OC this weekend by turning off HT and pushing …

Hi-I'm using EVGA's Precision OC tool on my GTX580. The core and shader clocks are linked. As I push those values higher, should I be making an additional, incremental adjustment to the memory clock? Thanks,Mark

Hello everybody. As seen in one of the NickN guides (http://www.simforums.com/forums/nhancer-settings-for-new-drivers-updated-v1932_topic36586.html), when using NVinspector, in FSX we do have disabled AA and filtering set to trilinear. After playing with different AA settings, I realized, that FSX simply ignores that. I used 2x 8x, 32x and combined settings - the picture looks exactly the same no matter what is set in nVidia Inspector.I use NVinspector v1.9.5.5 (profile MS Flight Simulator X), GTX580 on v267.31 driver, but remember the same issue on GTX280 with v260 driver. Everything works under control of W7 x64 Pro.As I use TH2Go, I cannot have AA ticked in FSX (screen t…

I just built a new computer for FSX and am trying to figure out what to do about a video card. I have an i7 960 3.2Ghz processor 4GB of ram and my old Radeon HD 4850 video card with 512MB of memory. I am trying to figure out if it is really worth my money to upgrade to a newer better video card. I've been looking at the GTX570. I have been reading several threads here and it seems that many people are not seeing a real increase in FPS with the upgrades they have done but I believe they are upgrading from better cards than the one I have. I don't really know how to compare theirs to mine because they are upgrading from Nvidia cards (GTX 260-275s and GTX 460-460s and cards …

Hey guys,Just wondered if anyone has any opinions on this. Curious if a single card will be able to handle a 37" lcd tv that has a max res of 1920x1080. Or would it be beneficial to run two in SLI. Disregard anything in my sig as this will be a total new build that will be completed this week. It will primarily be for FSX but I also play a few FPS games (call of duty, etc..) every once in a while. I've read that FSX doesn't benefit from SLI but will it actually decrease performance? Thanks for any thoughts.

I want to try the new 590 GTX card. So if I am running dual monitors 1. cockpit view, 2. with FMC and throttles window, will the 2nd card boost performance? There not much happening on the monitor#2. Since SLI will be disabled is it true that video card #2 will have no effect on my performace of FPS on monitor 1? And since monitor 2 shows the FMC and throttles, not much "horsepower" is being used to support monitor 2 if using 1 card. These are thethings I don't understand. Your advice will be appreciated. I want to order a top end maching from Stealthmachines.

Hi guys,I am using a Gygabyte GTX 460 768 MB and was wondering if it would be a worthy upgrade to get a GTX 560 1Gb. I only play FSX and use a 19 inch monitor with a max res of 1440x900. My cpu will be (very soon) I5 2500k hopefully around 4.7. I would also overclock the 460 as it o/c pretty well. Thanks

I understand the nVidia 590 card can run multiple monitors. If I am building a new computer with the 990i CPU, will I benefit from dual 590 cards? 1 monitor is my 2D cockpit panel and 2nd monitor only shows the FMC and throttles. Can you even run dual 590 cards? (enough room, slots, power etc?)I want maximum performance, but is it worth the extra $700?Please advise. Thank youPaul Gugliotta

I simply couldn't resist myself: http://www.pccomponentes.com/gigabyte_geforce_gtx480_windforce3_1gb_gddr5.htmlA GTX480 for just 259€ and with the improved cooling system from Gigabyte... just had to do it.So yes here we go again: I'll be running my stupid stutter benchmarks and all to see how it compares to my current GTX 460 1GB in FSX. I'll set two separate benchmarks at 8xS and 8xSQ FSAA + overcast and I also have a wattage meter and will compare power consumptions, even though we can find tons of those comparisons in the internet

It seems like the 500 series should be about 10 to 20 percent faster than the 400 series for many other games. But with FSX, who knows?!

After going over all the different video cards out there that fit my budget, I have settled on either the GTX 460 1GB or the GTX 550 Ti 1G. I can get either in the neighborhood of $149, but the problem is that I can't seem to figgure out which would run FS X better? My PS can handle either one. Any suggestions any one? Given the choice, do I go with the 460 or the 550 Ti?Kerry

I've got an older 9850 GTX, and I am thinking about replacing it.....my budget is substantially LOWER then back then, so how do we feel about this new budget-entry card? Will it run better then my 9850 does?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121435&cm_re=GTX_550_Ti-_-14-121-435-_-Productfor a link to the product.

Hello All,So I have a Q9550 overclocked to 3.7, 4gigs ram and a GTX260 card on win64. After seeing the reviews decided to get a GTX570. After following the driver removal instructions on Nvidia's web site I removed the drivers swapped cards and installed the new drivers. With the GTX570 installed the benchmarks showed double the power of the older GTX260. So eager to see what FSX could do now I loaded it up. And if I had not put the card in my self I would not have believed it was changed. Really not (1) FPS more, and not the least bit smoother. How is it possible that the card could show such improvements in 3 different benchmarks but absolutely nothing for FSX? H…

You will see my specs in my signature. Will I see a significant improvement in upgrading to the GTX 460, 470 or 480? Much difference between the these 3 in the 400 series? BTW, I mainly fly FS9 due to my many add-ons and payware. Thanks.

My computer uses 2 monitors, a big 27" one and a smaller 20" LCD which I use for work and in portait mode. The desktop "extend" to the smaller one.My issue is, whenever I start FSX, unless I disable the smaller monitor, FSX will not run correctly on my primary display (27" LCD). It somehow tries to extend itself to the second smaller monitor. Now, I want to use full screen FSX, isn't there any way to tell FSX to use only my primary display and forget about the other one?I tried removing the second display entry in fsx.cfg, but it keeps recreating the entry. Disabling my second monitor each time is a PITA so if anyone has any tips, please let me know.Cheers!Fred

In my quest for better performance I decided to give the gtx 580 a try and I can honestly say that:THERE'S A SLIGHT FPS IMPROVEMENT OVER MY GTX 480I don't see much of an FPS (only about 3-5 fps) improvement in the badly needed very dense scenerios, but things are smoother than before. So, will I keep it? I'm not sure yet. I might have to do a full fresh install of the OS and FSX before I can decide. The performance is what I expected. Maybe the 990x or 995x might be a better investment.
