Hi Guys,I currently have an ATI Radeon HD 5770 card with 1GB RAM. I am noticing that, under heavy weather and cloud conditions, my FPS suffer quite significantly. I would like to upgrade my graphics card to hopefully get rid of this performance drop in cloudy conditions in FSX. The two cards I can choose from are the ATI Radeon HD 5870, or the Nvidia GTX 285. I would like to mention that I have been running FSX on this ATI 5770 for a few months now, and I am completely happy with the video quality. I am fine with multi-sampling AA, and do not need anything better. With that in mind, which card should I go for? I know that the 5870 is a newer card, and according to …

I found this..http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=913781It works right along side inspector and now it looks sweet. no shimmering not even on water from a distance. I lost about 2 frames when 4x is applied.

Hi all,I am currently using a Geforce 1GB GTX 260 for my FS9 with Windows XP 32bit edition, 4GB ram and dual core 3.33GHZ PC.I am getting some stuttering when having weather on and a fair amount of AI aircraft at big airports. I am trying to work out if a graphics card upgrade would help my sim or if I am suffering withmy CPUs instead? As I only use FS9 I cannot get a faster CPU and it only runs on one core with the weather etc running on the other core.I cannot afford a 5xx series card so was potentially looking at a 480. Would this help the stuttering and speed up my sim in general or how do I work out if I am at the limit of my CPU?

HI guys, a few days ago windows update installed new grafic drivers for my GTX 260. These seem to be 267.28. I´ve never heared of them before. But I gave them a try and downloaded. As far as I can see it didn´t mess up something and FSX is working as usual. But some mintues ago I visited the nVidia website to check whether the long awaited 270.XX driver has been released. So I did an auto search. It told me that my current driver version is 267.24 and I should upgrade on the 266.58. That´s strange and I´m on the end with my knowledge. Why is the current driver on lower version number than my actual one. Btw. before this update via windows I used the 266.58 without any pro…

  6. Has anyone else started seeing g3dll errors with the latest nvidia drivers for win7 64bit and the gtx580 video card?Suddenly I am crashing to the desktop with these error messages in the windows application log.Usually happens on approach to an airplane, tried different regions to make sure it wasn't PNW Blue or something causing it.

I'm finalizing a build here, and I just want to make sure that it still holds that AMD cards just aren't that compatible with FSX compared to nVidia.I'm basically between a nVidia 560 or an AMD 6950. I lean toward the NV card solely because of FSX.Thoughts?

Can you guys who are running your rig with SLI can test this....look in the Nvidia Inspector (latest version with the latest driver 270.51) here and as you can see there is something about Flight been DX10 with this new driver and also as I predicted before about Aces trowing a little something at us FSX user been able to use SLI (not DX10), these settings were not there in the oldest version of Inspector, so can you guy test this new driver using the SLI settings in Inspector with and without SLI enable and report back to us about your finding.....By the way as you can see and as I predicted long time before Flight will not be DX11 as it will be FSX reworked to have DX10…

Hello all,I'm currently running an Eyefinity setup. System is listed in my sig, system speed is not an issue, just about everything is at max. My question has to do with video performance in a triple monitor setup (3840 x 1024). I've been flight simming for many years, setting up a system is not an issue. I built this system a couple of months ago at it runs great, locked at 30, stays at 30, except when in moderate to heavy clouds, using ASE. What I'm wondering, would a GTX 580 with Matrox TH2go do any better, significantly better, than my 6970 Eyefinity. I'm not interested in multiple video card options.I know that generally Nvidia cards do better in FSX, but at way mor…

HelloWas hoping someone maybe able to answer my 2 questions?I have a GTX 285 PCI Express along with a asus P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard.I am just about to buy a GTX580 and I am not that great at building PCs etc so I was wondering1 Will the GTX 580 take up the same amount of room in my case as the GTX 285 or is it a bigger card? ( I am asking becuase the GTX 285 already covers one of my PCI slots and just leaves enough room for a sound card in the second PCI slot)2 WIll it just be a simple case of switch the cards round, install correct drivers and let FSX re build the config file? Many thanksKeithy

Hi guys,Looking for some help here. I'm pretty savvy with getting FS9 to look good but I am a complete loss on what to do right now. Just upgraded my old 9600GT to a 450GTS. Resolution is set at 1280x1024 and I have installed the newest Nvidia drivers along with inspector and have set it up per NickN's guide. AA is on but i'm getting really bad shimmering along buildings (particulary autogen), runway markings, and AI aircraft. I never had this issue with my previous card and not sure how to proceed. I've tried every AA mode inspector has with no luck. AF is set to 16x with all optimizations off. Full specs are:E7500 ocd' to 3.75ghz2gb DDR3 1333 RAM450GTS 1gb DDR5Antec 550…

Why is it that none of the dedicated review sites include flight simulator tests in their reviews of new GPUs and CPUs??Some of the review articles (such as here and here) test using a half-dozen or more games -- why couldn't they also include, say, FSX?In the past, I had thought that two reasons that FS software isn't included were that the number of simmers was too small compared to the number of players of other games, and that it had been decided that MS FS is CPU-limited and doesn't really use multicore technology, so improvements in GPU speed or muti-core CPUs weren't felt to be worth evaluating using MS FS.But from the number of discussions that continue to pop up …

Hi guys,I have an old machine (Dell Dimension 8400 P4 3.4GHz 1G RAM/windows XP 32). I recently replaced my old ATI HD4350 with a Galaxy GT430. Nothing I do removes the jaggies. If I put the old HD4350 back in, jaggies are gone (but FPS suck). Here is what hasn't worked:Used Driver Sweeper then Downloaded latest nvidia drivers 266.58 WHQLTested every AA and Anistropic setting from 2x - 16x in every combinationDownloaded and used nvidia inspector settingsContacted Galaxy customer support and ran hardware test on the graphics card with FurMark. 23. I have a new i7-870, 8 GB/1300 RAM, win7-64, 1 TB Hdd, ATI Radeon HD 4850 W/1GB onboard RAM. Just loaded up FSX /Acceleration and some of the planes have flickering in the VC, not 2d and also some building roofs when in the external view have some white vertical lines flashing. Otherwise it is a real good improvement. FPS are way up there.Any ideas for some settings that might minimize the flashing and flickering in FSX? I have always had nVida boards before this one, so I don't have any numbers to start with. Thanks,Ray

  25. I've got my gpu clocks pretty high sitting around 955 in MSI AB. However I know I can get that higher by lowering my Memory clock which is currently maxed at 2210 with my current core clock.Would it be more beneficial to do that, or leave them all at a balance like this? I'm not sure if FSX takes advantage of the memory clocks at all. Although I imagine it might be beneficial for AA.This thing overclocks like a beast, btw. Got the Accelero Xtreme Plus GPU cooler on mine and temps don't even touch 60c.
