I recently switched from an Ati Radeon x1650 pro 512mb card to a HIS Radeon HD5450 1Gb card, and I am experiencing severe stutters whenever there is a cumulus cloud in the sky in FS9. All other cloud types present no issues.I'm also running FSX / Acceleration with the same HDEv2 clouds installed, and this problem is not there in FSX. With the 1650 card, I could run the HDEv2 high resolution cumulus set with no noticeable impact on my frames (locked at 20fps)but with the 5450, even using the 512 resolution set, the frames bounce between 2fps - 15fps and the game stutters and jerks like a slide show. I wiped all of the old drivers out from the 1650 card, and updated to th…

Hello. As you can see my computer in the signature, i have i7 930 and GTX480. But this is not connected to GPU problem, i had this problem on my older GPU, HD4870. So, when im panning around lets say cockpit (also in spot view), black boxes appear and they are not "connected" to some part of the scenery, but they move when panning around. Really wierd, and it can only be seen in full screen mode.Pictures tell more:(I was running 1680x1050 instead of my native 1920x1080, i was testing SpiritFlyer's fsx.cfg, becouse we have allmost identical computers, and he has ~20 fps more in same location looking at same place...

Since nvida's 197 and above drivers, even tried the latest 258's for xp, I have a 9800 gt with 512 meg card. My fs9 crashes. Right after it loads, as soon as I change view it's done. So I go back to the 186's and it's good to go. The error is the gdiplus.dll. fs9 doesn't seem to like the updated one. I haven't had problem updating before. It just has been since the 197 and up series. Any one else having this problem?

I probably have one of the worst computers for FSX in the Avsim forums, apart for my video card, a XFX 260GTX. However, I have all my sliders to the maximum, and I still run at a smooth 30 FPS all the time. I don't have any tweaks installed or anything like that. Anyone know an explanation? Here are my PC specsAMD X2 3800+ @2GHz (First dual core AMD ever made), XFX GTX260, Acer 750W power supply, 2GB of RAM (DDR2), 2 hard drives, one 160 Gb at 3840 RPM and another one with 320 Gb at 7200 RPM. My motherboard is a stock lenovo one, and unfortunately they don't give information at all about it...So could it be that my video card handles a bit of the CPU with CUDA? I'm…

HiSystem:- XP-32 bits- FS9.1- GTS250 (updated from 800GTS to increase memory.- latest drivers with nHancer and AA at Combined-8xS.I get a real hit in clouds. I have tried in both 32-bits, 16-bits and DXT3. The hit means stutters, reduction in FPS and GPU temp rising!I don't remember having the same problem with the old card. Can someone share this?ThanksGhiom

Just a quick question, would a 480 gtx be overkill for a monitor resolution of 1280 x 1024? This would be for FSX and FS9. Or would I be better of with a 460 gtxCore I7-860 @3.48gb 9-9-9-24Gigabyte UD7thanks for your time. Matt

Fired up FS9 for the first time in weeks and noticed that the graphics are looking a bit dodgy. There are all these tiny blocks of colour all over the screen that move at random, kind of like snow. The rest of the display is fine and my computer works fine on ever other program I ues. The graphics in FS9 were fine when I last used it any I have latered nothing since then. Here is a screenshot. The arrows are pointing to some of the blocks of colour that apprear to be out of place but there are lots more than just those with arrows. It looks like the blocks are the same colour as other bits of the display and are out of place. :( ie some are like the same colour as the sky a…

Taking into account how much FSX can benefit from extra videoram, does anybody have any experience with the ATI 5870 2GB offering?I am interested in seeing how FSX would perform with one of these compared to the GTX 480 at 1.5GB.Anybody know or have any links? Thanks!

Hi everyoneProbably you've heard about this "theory" that claims it's better for FSX to run the GPU at vanilla speeds. It's never made no difference for me either OCing or downclocking my GPUs but out of curiosity, what's your experience here please?thanks :(

Is the GT240 with 1gb DDR5 a good replacement for my faithful 7800GT that is giving up the ghost? The 7800 has run FSX fairly well except in high traffic areas, and I want to make sure I'm not stepping backwards. My computer is an AMD 4200 Dual Core with 2gb ram and I am running a 24" widescreen monitor.Thanks.

After having bought my 480 GTX from EVGA I recieved a (free) package from them today containing their new high flow 400 series bracket. It is supposed to lower operating temperatures by several degrees celcius. They are a breeze (that is a pun) to install. The new brackets for the cards are identical for all air cooled reference designed 400 series cards, to date. Anyone with an applicable card can order copies from them, even those who bought from other manufacturers. You can order from EVGA RIGHT HERE.Stephen

Hello, I just upgraded from a GTS 250 to a EVGA GTX 470. In the 250 I was using 182.50 with NHANCER. What would be a good driver choice for the GTX 470 with NHANCER? Thanks......

Another heads up for everybody...Newegg is now selling the Evga offerings. If you look at them, you will see 2 of what appears to be each of the same card, one designted AR and one desigated TR. The AR icludes a lifetime warranty while the TR includes a 2 year warranty. The offerings with the lifetime warranty are going for $10 more, respectively (at least they were earlier today).

Hey guys I just wanted to let everyone know that the new high airflow backplates for the GTX 480 are just fantastic.I have two 480s in SLI for a 3 display widescreen setup, previously my PC was belching hot air out of the back so much is actually made my feet uncomfortable, after installing the plates all is well, my temps dropped considerably (idle at 50 max out around 70 - 75). I even bumped up my overclock on the card to 800 Mhz Core clock. If you have an evga card the plates are free, but otherwise they are 10 bucks from EVGA, but WELL worth the money, my previously hot feet certainly agree,

Finally got around to testing how well my Samsung 3D TV converted 2D to 3D when FSX was the input signal. The results were excellent ! A clear, bright image with good depth perception. The main benefit however is that the 2D to 3D conversion load is taken off the graphics card, so the frame rate is the regular old 2D frame rate !The basic setup is simple, I'm using a ATI 4890 in my HTPC, which outputs a standard (2D) HDMI 1.3 signal (in my case, 1080p at 60Hz). I plug this computer output into one of the TV's hdmi ports, and the TV does the rest.I think the new Sony's also have internal 2D to 3D processing capability, but not the Panasonics.Another interesting prospect w…

Hi all, I currently am using a single gtx 260 sc for fsx. I want to add a second monitor and could actually install one on my 260. But I really can't afford a hit on fps by doing this. Trying to figure out the best route to take. Should I install another gtx 260 sc in sli mode or get a gtx 480 and use the 260 for the second monitor.I'm running a I7-920 stock w/6gb at 1600. I need to overclock but don't have the nerve too..... :( Just wanted some opinions on that. Thanks!Mike
