Have just spent a couple of intensive days revamping my system - did a Windows 7 Home Premium in-place upgrade, then replaced my EVGA GTX 280 SSC with an EVGA GTX 480 SC, then cleaned NVidia drivers with Driver Sweeper 2.10 and loaded the NVidia 197.41's (the latest for GTX 480 under W7).For whatever reason, I didn't have the crashing problems that PingPong reported here, but I did hit a wall when it came to setting screen resolutions on my Triplehead2Go Digital. Although I had no problems getting to 1680 x 1024 on a single monitor, resolution on three monitors was an issue. The new NVidia drivers seem to set a hard resolution limit at 3840 x 1024, which is pretty coars…

I want to build a new PC for FSX and my plan is to have 3-6 monitors (initially 3, but then have another 3 on top ), can a 480 GTX support this? I know ATI eyefinity can do this, but I would like to know where 480 is as far as multiple monitors are concerned. I would get the triple head 2 go but its limitation on the resolution is a huge problem. In fact I wonder why anyone with a 1920x1200 monitor (x3) would buy it given that it downgrades your resolution. The problem with ATI is obviously the micro stutters. I don't want to spend $3-4,000 on a PC just to have my video card ruin my flight because well lets be honest, FSX is an nvidia friendly game. If someone has a soluti…

I was wondering what it means if when I try to run fs9 my screen starts to blink after it is initially loaded. Even the menu screens. I have tried different drivers but no good. This problem just all of a sudden came up, maybe after a windows upgrade. I'm using windows vista 64. Any ideas of what I should do would be great. I have only had this card a few months I hope it didn't go bad already. Thanks for the helpAnthony

Good Morning,I have an EVGA GTX 9800 video card that I want to plug into a new i7 machine. Right now it's in my old computer. My question is, there are 2 power cables (6 pin connectors each) that run to the power supply. The layout of my power supply in the new machine is somewhat different, but still has those two power cables with the same connectors on the end. The trouble is, the connectors aren't keyed or differentiated on the old machine ("PCI-E" is stamped on both connectors that plug into the board), whereas on the new machine, one connector is stamped P10 and the other P11. That said, in both machines, either cable will plug into either connector on the card. The…

I've been reading plenty of forum posts about which graphics card is better and nvidia vs. ATA etc. and they don't always agree with each other. My question iswould a Nvidia 9800GT 1gb be a good graphics card for FSX?

In light of the recent developments with ATI cards and vsync, I am stuck with making a decision between TH2go or an ati card. currently use a gtx 260, I can pretty much max things out with this card and run an avg of 25 fps.I am more concerned with which one will at a minimum keep the performance where it is and hopefully not lose any.thxric

I was wondering if someone could educate me about the difference between manufactures. I would like to purchase a gtx480 but I don't know if I should choose asus or evga or if it matters. I have always been loyal to evga based on solid reputation. Thanks in advance

Dear sim community,I would like to hear your comments and opinion about the graphic cards mentioned in topic headline and following issues. Me, I am using Sapphire's HD-5870 Vapor-X model right now with three Dell 2408WFP displays which I grouped together at a resolution of 6060x1200 (with bezel management, ATI CCC 10.3). Before I owned a GTX-295. There are 3 reasons because I changed from GTX-295 to HD-5870:Reason 1 (no Surround-Gaming possible, bad multi-monitor-support):At the GTX-295 you can only connect 3 simulteanous working displays by disabling the Multi-GPU function of the card (is described by nVidia also). Then you have to connect two of your displays through D…

For those of you with ATI 5800 series cards for which Vsync will not enable in either the ATI CCC with the option "Wait for Vertical Refresh" always on or using Ray Adam's ATI Tray Tools (this has worked for some) the following worked for me. My OS is Win 7 x64, which is where many users are reporting problems. I just upgraded from an 8800GT to the 5850 and found the texture tearing almost a showstopper. Steps:1) Download and install RivaTuner. The version I have is v2.24 - I believe that's the latest.2) Open the RivaTuner folder, on default installation it is in the Program Files (x86) directory.3) In the RivaTuner folder, open Tools, and look for D3DOverrider. …

I have a new Dell system that is running FSX great on Windows 7. My issue is that at night, the cloud and ground texture look posterized, or cartoonish, with no depth. I have the most recent drivers, and I have experimented with all the graphics settings in o no avail. My Monitor is a Dell 21" widescreen running in 1920*1080 mode. Is there something simple I am overlooking? Thanks,Bruce RiggsKADS

Before I ran FSX with 4xAA or 8xAA box / 16xAF. I just tried 2xAA and the framerate is MUCH better with less stutters (very often 60 fps). I guess that since the BP=0 makes FSX rely more on the GPU it makes sense that AA would have such a big impact on fps (AA don't have much impact without BP=0 for me). I'm running an i7 @ 4.2ghz, ATI 5870, 6gb ram @ 1600 mhz 6-7-6-18, Crucial C300 256gb SSD, Win 7 x64. I'm using BP=0, unlimited frames and ATI tray tools to get vsync, 1920x1200. Give it a try with no AA or AAx2 and check if you see a big fps gain (or less stutter) with BP=0.

Hey guys, I am using a GTX 280(overclocked it 700 mhz) on a core I7, WinXP 64 with the BP=0 tweaks, and I am getting fantastic performance it's a 99/100...butI get this odd texture artifact when I am looking at a plane from the outside, there are little blue squares that pop up every now and then in a grid pattern just over the airframe of the plane.I am using the LvLD 767, I don't know if it's just that aircraft as I haven't been flying anything else lately.I recently had a near disaster when I swapped from an ATI to nvidia card, and got recurrant BSODs until I switched out the driverprt.sys with the version from XP SP1. As you can see there are so many variables here t…

Hi,Now my FSX computer only displays the front view scenery that is projected in a curved screen with three projectors using TH2GO at 3072*768 resolution. I was wondering if it is possible to have not only the front view but also the front left and front right views displayed. So the left projector will display the front left view, the front projector the front view and the right projector the front right view all with the same resolution of 1024*768. If possible how do I configure and setup the views in FSX and can I fine tune them to have correct alignment? Can you please help?Best RegardsAbrupto

Hey guys I am having a problemI recently took a 5870 out of one of my rigs and replaced it with a GTX 280, only now after a few seconds in windows I get a "BSOD with the message driver is mismanaging PTEs" If I remove the Nvidia driver completely and stay with the default VGA driver no BSOD, but obviously I can't run that way.I have tried driver sweeper, reinstalling dot net, thouroughly expunging the ATI driver(not easy BTW), I am out of ideas, I was considering doing a repair of WinXP 64, but I am not if that will fix the problem or cause more problems with my installed/registered add-ons.I can boot into safe mode just fine or WinXP as long as I don't have the nvidia …

Hi guys,I'm currently running FSX on an E8500 OC @ 4ghz,on XP32 with 4Gb of Transcend 1066 RAM.My GPU is a 9600GT.I'm looking at the cheapest upgrade that will improve mostly the image quality, since FPS wise I seem to be doing pretty good.Would going to a GTX 285 (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143190) make a huge difference compared to a GTX 260(http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127464)I guess a GTX 275 is also an option (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143183)I suppose a CPU upgrade to a I7 930 could help too,but I would then need new MB and RAM.Thanks for any input.Richard

I have had an ASRock board for several years. Started it out with an AGP card and then moved to PCie nVidia 8600 256mb (supports AGP & PCie). Works well. However, The ASrock board only has a 4x PCie slot! Since I am always behind the hardware curve I decided to get up to PCie 16x. Well got a Gigabyte board but no display. Next an Asus board same thing. Now I just tried a newer ASRock board but will not even post with 8600 plugged in. Putting everything (CPU, Memory. 8600) back in the old board and it works well. I am quite confident that the problem is the 8600 since on the new ASRock board I booted up without the card plugged in and I had a series of beeps which did …
