I have a triplehead2go unit connected to 3-19" monitors and a separate 23" monitor that I use for the instrument panel. If I open the VC on the triplehead2go screen and zoom in just so I see only the cowling and prop and then open the instrument panel on the lower display, will the processor still be required to update both the VC and the undocked instrument panel? I want to see the cowling at least to have some perspective when landing. If I open the cockpit view on the triplehead2go, I get full screen scenery with no cowling. Any help appreciated. Steve

In the ever changing world of graphic cards, I can never seem to get a grasp on what is better, by numbers that is.I always thought that as improvements were made the number(s) of the card would increase...boy was I wrong!Okay, heres the bit:Currently run a GeForce 8600 GTS, Dual Core E8400 @ 3.00 GhzAsus P5GC-MX/1333 MB.I would like to upgrade my Graphics card, but is a 9800 series better than a 250? CPU is not the latest, but it has served me well these past Two years. And I would like to stay with Nvidia. Thanks in advance for your inputs.Neil Bonner

Basically autogen and scenery does seem to pop in so would the extra 512mb on the 9800gt improve much. Also would FPS possibly go up. Thanks

This is for anyone that has either of these cards .Which video card you think is better for fs9 :( ? Currently, :( I own the 4870 ati 2048mb card. In the past I owned the 9800 gtx 2gb which for some reason got better frame rates :( then the ati card ,but did not have as vivid of a image as the ati :( . I want to go with nvidia once again since it supports 3d.Please, feel free to let me know what you think on this topic. Thanks :(

I have an HP Pavilion a6220n with a GeForce 8500GT card 256MB RAM, 128 bit memory interface. I want to upgrade my video card but there is only room for a short board (6 inches), and I need PCI Express 2.0. Can anyone suggest a good card? I'm wondering about the GeForce GT 240 or ATI Radeon HD 5750. I use a single 20-inch monitor for FSX.

Hello guys! I just upgraded to GTS 250 512mb OC edition, and strange things happens. When i go to a major airport in VC mode the frames are going down. I have no problem with clouds, even with "heviest" (1024x1024 - 5mb). For example I am at LEPA - Malloca X from aerosoft with Wilco airbus in the VC and when i look at the buildings the frames are dropping too much, from 30-40 to 17-21. I tested F.E.A.R. 2 at max resolution and everything on maximum, its realy good, but in FS2004 not. Is this normal for this video card or I am missing something. I did all correctly - nHancer, do some changes in fs9.cfg and nothing. Here are some shots:http://img294.imageshack.us/i/loads.jp…

I thought maybe I would provide info about a problem I recently came across. Watching for this problem will save you BIG bucks.I had an ASUS mobo with a Corsair PSU, and an NVidia GTX 295 video card. The system ran perfectly until I tried to add another PCIe card next to the 295. I couldn't move the second card over to another slot because the fan housing on the second card prevented an installation into a slot away from the 295. I thought I had enough room between cards so there would be no short. I WAS WRONG.I lost the PSU, the GTX 295, and the mobo. The two cards had shorted out. I replaced all the hardware and I purchased a BFG GTX 295. This card has a rubber …

OK,I have a question. My memory is foggy about this, but I thought the FSX development team used Nvidia cards when they wrote the software. Perhaps, I'm mistaken. Did they just use Nvidia cards to demo the beta version? Some folks in another forum (hardware, not related to flight sim) were asking about the best computer system for FSX. I responded that they should use an NVidia card because the FSX team used them. I might be mistaken. I personally have an ATI card for FSX.Any web links to verify your responses would be appreciated.thanks,David

60€ is the price difference (Sparkle GTX 285 2GB for 350€ or 1GB for 290€), the new i7 build will be for next 3 years approx. Is it worth the price and is it needed? I know when I bought my 8800GT 512MB looked like helluwa lot. Now it's nothing...

I am upgrading from a dual core Nvidia 7950x2 (vista 32) to and HP i7920 2.66hz (Win 7). I know I should spend more on the CPU but right now I am going with this one. I have spent a lot of time reading the posts about the 5870 and the vsync problems and I totally confused. Would I be best to get the GTX 260 or would the ati 5870 make me happier. Also would I see quite an improvement in FPS and overall smoothness? I know I will never be able to run the sliders full. I run REX, GEX, radar contact, TrafficX LDs 767. Thanks for any helpDarcy

  13. Ok here's the report:Good news:CCC forced AF is fixed.Bad news:Adaptive AA is still broken, trees shimmering etc.Vsync still doesn't work correctly - it's not limiting the framerate to the refresh rate when set to unlimited and still exhibits tearing. The weird lines through GDI+ gauges are still there but they look different to me now than with previous drivers, they're in different locations on our MD-11 panel than they were in previous drivers.

Is the textrue tearing on Win 7 in FSX with the 5870 on a i7 2.66ghz bad enough to ruin the flight sim experience?I have read a lot on this forum but cannot seem to pinpoint whether it I should stay away from this card.ThanksDarcy

Afternoon all,Just a quick question.....how do you know if your GPU is working correctly in FS9!?!With all my recent problems I am beginning to suspect a problem with my GTX260 but when I run it in 3DMark etc it seems fine.....gives better than average scores and you can hear the fan cutting in to keep it down to about 65-70C. However, when I run it in FS9 the temp only goes up to approx 50C so it's either a/ somehow not performing or b/ not being fully utilised as it would be in heavily driven 3D game.I'm not going to list the "problems" I'm having here as they're well documented in my other posts but I'd just be interested to know if this is normally the case.....that t…

Hi all,Been trying to get my new rig up and running with FS9 but having no end of problems with shimmering. I have used Nhancer and the cfg files to get my picture as good as I can but I still can't get rid of the slight shimmering of buildings, distant roads, masts etc.I have tried the latest drivers but see some suggest reverting to older ones to try and help reduce this.Only trouble is, most of those mentioned do not seem available to Win7 and so I'm loathe to load them. Can anyone with a GTX260 and Win7 64 suggest a decent driver for minimal shimmering or is it just a facet I'll have to accept that there will ALWAYS be some slight shimmering of autogen in the mid-far d…

Hey all I have one question that nags me. I currently have 8800gt but I feel it is holding my processor back (as seen below) and I want to upgrade to GTX260. I really was just wondering the process involved in switching video cards. Like I heard the FSX.CFG had to be changed. Or must a full FSX reinstall occur. Thanks

I have read at http://www.jetlinesystems.com/performance.html that "SLI Impact on FSX(multiple graphics card configurations)Our testing has proved that SLI graphics will only improve performance when run on extremely high display resolutions. Although many games benefit from SLI, FSX typically will not."Also, I have read here at avsim people posting things like compared to a single 2gb card they get faster results in SLI with two 1gb cards.Does anybody know the truth about SLI and is it a benifit too either fs9 ,FSX or not ?

  23. On my system with Windows7 64bit, ATI 4850 and FSX I have found that these latest released ATI beta drivers have for me fixed the issue of AA and AF not working unless you had them selected in game.I have found now that once again you can set AA and AF in the ATI Control Panel and it works ingame.Of course as anything in the PC world, your experience may vary.I think that ATI 5 series cards didnt have a problem with this but was mainly the 4 series so I am hoping that when the official Catalyst drivers come out later this month then this problem that alot of us have had with ATI 4 series cards and FSX for the last few months might be resolved at last.Feel free to try out …
