I'm currently using the 196.21 NVidia Drivers with FSX on Windows 7 with a NVidia 285 card. They seem fine, but I'm always looking for an improvement. Anyone using the new 197.13 drivers, and are they stable with performance gains? Please let me know your review of these.Stan

Since I have my GTS250 (1/2 year) I never managed to get the driver's AA and AF working (i.e. disable them in FSX and enable AA and AF in the NVidia control panel). For me, only FSX' built-in software AA and AF have an effect.I tested with an ATI adapter, there it worked with the drivers, but I got small display abnormalies and switched back to the NVidia adapter.I even tried NHancer, no luck so far. Spent already several hours trying to resolve my problem without success. Is there a working method to make my GTS250's driver do at least AA in FSX? Guess I better let FSX do software AF since the results with the ATI adapter were really bad.

I've got an old 8800 GT lying around from my old PC. I was gonna try and hunt down an active display port adapter, but I couldn't find one the last time I went shopping for one here in Thailand. I have 2 monitors setup with eyefinity, and my third monitor won't work on it without that active DP adapter. So, from my research, I've found that you can use both nvidia and ati card together... the ati being the main graphics processor while the nvidia deals with Physx.. While I'm sure this will have no fps benefit to the game, I'm just hoping it will work together for me so I can use up to 4 monitors without having to hunt down a fairly rare DP adapter that no one seems to carr…

Hi all ... I really need help here. I've been chasing the pot of gold at the end of the FSX rainbow for about 35 days now, and I'm about running out of the will to carry on. Endless tweaking, tuning, driver switching, add-on tools, and now have even resorted to trading video cards. And I'm still having problems.Ok I was told that DX9, with nhancer's help can look even better than DX10. I now know that's true, but the problem is, for me, DX9 is introducing all sorts of problems. My system specs are in my sig. My FSX setup is as follows:Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit24" Dell LCD @ 1920x108021.5" Acer LCD @ 1920x1080FSX w/SP2REX, GEX, UTX, and FTX installedFSGenesis meshes in…

Hi all,Currently I'm putting together a FSX-slaying rig and I've come to the matter of selecting the display. Can I ask those of you experienced in such matters: Does FSX look OK on a 1920X1080 monitor? By 'OK' I mean is the image proportional and not 'stretched'? I fly VC exclusively so I'm less worried about 2D panels, I just want to know that the view in the VC will be correctly proportioned. In New Zealand I'm finding that 1920X1200 monitors are a few hundred $NZD more than the 1920X1080 range, so want to avoid spending the extra money unless it is strictly necessary.Sorry if this is a newb question, I have searched on the matter but have found only a few answers specif…

I just installed a new graphics card and when I run fsx the graphics section still shows my old card. My question is does it matter or is there a way to change it other than reinstalling fsx. Thanks for the help.

Hi all,I've posted a few weeks ago that I had purchased a hp 23 inch widescreen monitor but I took it back until I got a better understanding about the LCD monitors. I reviewed your thoughts and in the past few weeks, I've got more information from computer experts. I'm not sure just how much frame rate loss I experienced from switching to the LCD from a CRT but it may be in the order of 5 fps at the most, if that much. According to one computer expert, he said that the LCDs have advanced in technology in the past 4 years and their resposed times are in the order of 2 to 5 ms. The ph I took back had a response time of 5 ms. He also said that todays monitors are much bette…

I just purchased a new PNY Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 and am having an issue with jaggies. I managed to get rid of them in FSX by enabling the in-game AA setting, but still have them in FS2004. I use Enhancer and went through the steps to create a new profile for FS9 but no matter what I do, I still have the jaggies. I tried enabling AA from within FS2004 but that did not fix it.My system is Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3Ghz, 2 GB of RAM, Raptor 73GB 10,000 rpm Hard drive. I am using the latest version (197.13)of the Nvidia drivers from their website. Thanks for your suggestions

I got this one backwards. I should have asked the question before ordering the card, but I didn't, and I did. It arrives on Wednesday! So here goes:1. Can vertical sync work in FSX with a Gigabyte 5870? How?2. Can AA be set to get both good frame rates and quality in FSX? How?Will someone that knows how to set things up be my friend and help me? I will forever be greatful, kind, considerate and promise to be a better person and give you all the credit for turning my life around!Stephen

I'm using the latest ATI Tools to set my ATI HD2400xt up.the on screen monitering graphs of Free Video Memory and Free Tecxture memeory are shown separately (on screen Display Settings). The values I get for the Free Vidoe Memory match my card with 256 mb(max 256, min 0) but I can't see where the Free texture memory resides, is it in RAM or Page file memory,it shows about 650+ can I adust this value.when I alter the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=70 this alters the range in the Free Vidoe memory but not the Free Texture memoryHave also noticed the frame rates recored by ati tools in full screen are much higher than FSX values, any body else have this.

Hi all,As I may need to get a new video card for my PC, Im tempted to go with Nvidia again. My previous ATI did not cope well at all with cloud graphics. Cant remember which model it was but it seemed (about a year ago, at the time) to be a general issue with ATI cards.Any latest advice from people who my have recently purchased either?Thankseric

Hi,I have been using FSX on my new i7 W7/64 pc since January. Soon after I had set it all up I noticed that the default 737 panel disappeared at night in DX9. It would still be there in DX10 mode. After installing the Level-D 767 I noticed that in DX9 the aircraft was missing parts of it wing and engines in DX9. It was ok in DX10.So, ok, I went for DX10. One has to accept the already known flaws it has, but FSX performed very well.Recently I installed the PMDG MD11. Ok in DX10, but missing wheels and engines in DX9 and the gauges in the VC are not there. It a grey panel.I have a Dell pc with the nVidia GTS240 video card. I have noticed that these drivers are very much Dell…

I have started experiencing crashes and freezes, mostly referencing gdiplus.dll and g3d.dll. Someone has suggested a video driver issue. I have been using the 182.50 drivers for over a year now, ( with no issues ) has this recommendation changed? Is there a better driver? Please see specs below for rig and OS.Cheers, Mark

Hello:I am trying to get the best performance from an older ATI card, X1900GT, before I upgrade to a new PC. I am using catalyst version 9.3 drivers and experiencing frequent "display spikes and artifacts' on both FS2004 and FSX. All of my 3D settings on the catalyst control center are currently default. Can anyone offer any suggestions on settings that might reduce or eliminate my display problems? I am considering going back to an earlier driver unless someone has some suggestions. Let me know if I should post this problem in the FS2004 and/or FSX forums also. Thanks for any help or suggestions!Airbus

Hi,Well, Not what I expected in regards to Nvidia's latest release. Take a look.http://www.techspot.com/review/263-nvidia-geforce-gtx-480/Hope someone does some FSX/FS9 tests. Makes me more than a little reluctant to get rid of my GTX 285 board just yet.Looks like my i975/GTX285 combo will be with me a little longer.

Attached are screen shots showing the problem.Basically AA works fine in FS9 but not in FSX.Card is a Nvidia GF8800GT 512MB. Using nHancer with AA set to 8xS in both global and profile for FS9 & FSX. Have followed the NickN settings.AA seems to work initially in FSX windowed mode but 'fails' in less than a second!!!!Can anyone offer a solution or reason why this is happening?BTW Screen res is 1280x1024, native for my 17" LCD monitor.

After upgrading my FSX rig from a souped up Q9550 with a cranked up GTX275 to the i7 platform, I have felt that the GTX275 video card became a bottleneck, even though it is really fast and stable when overclocked. After reading about how the new Catalyst 10.3 has been such a great success so far, and being unimpressed with the Nvidia Fermi release, I switched uniforms in the middle of the night, and ordered a Gigabyte HD5870.What that means is that I will be a noob lost in the ATI wilderness I have not been a part of for the past 7 or 8 rebuilds. Here is hoping it is true that recent cures have really fixed earlier ills of vertical sync and AA problems in FSX. Having to l…

HeyI own a HP m9340f. Overall, it's a good PC: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @2.66Ghz, 6GB RAM, Vista Home Premium. I'm running FS9.There's a shortcoming on this PC, though: Nvidia Geforce 9500GS.I really need to upgrade this videocard. However, as I've been digging here and there, apparently the mother board only admits single-slot videocards PCIX-16.Could you suggest me the best single slot video card available for FS9? I was thinking of the 8800GTX or ATI 4370 but I better trust the experts.Thank yuo!

I had a computer tech come to my house last week when I was having an issue networking Vista and XPNow when attempting to to install a new video card driver I am faced with a problem that did not exist before. After removing nVidia drivers from programs and rebooting Vista automatically installs a VGA driver. I used to get a message saying that new hardware was found, I then canceled and proceeded with the nVidia driver installation. As per a couple of forum posts I have read, I have gone into Control Panel\System\Advanced System Settings\Hardware\Windows Update Driver Settings and then selected "ask me each tine I connect a new device before checking for drivers." When…

I just got the fresh down from Nvidia, 197.13 beta. They seem to give me about 10% boost in FSX. I created 2 test situations with the same view and settings prior to driver change. So, same setting, same position and aircraft, about 10% FPS up on unlimited.I hope they perform well too.

I am testing some settings using nHancer. One of them is the Texture filtering setting. However I cannot see any difference between High quality and High Performance... Do you? According to the provided information High quality should be a LOT better... The two optimization options (trilinear and aniso. sample) also don't seem to make a difference... Do you only see a difference in specific circumstances or specific games? (I only play FSX.)
