Hi,I have three 21.6'' monitors connected through Th2Go (driver 2.07.00.031) to GTX280 (driver 257.21). I have set custom resolution to 5040x1050x59.454Hz. Windows 7 x64 works without a glitch, but FSX cannot go beyond native resolution of one monitor (1680x1050).I have done it every time when reisntalling Windows, it works every time but not now. Rebuilding fsx.cfg does nothing... What can go wrong?

  2. I just got an email from EVGA giving out this link. Very mysterious! Could it be a new video card, something like a GTX 475, GTX 475 or a GTX 480 Classified or even a 290 or 295 GTX? Or could it be something smaller like a 440 GTX or 450 GTX? EVGA COUNTDOWN Stay Tuned!Stephen

Guys, I've got a fairly old rig now but it suits my purposes.Card is Radeon X1950Up to now I've always been free of screen tearing in full screen mode and using TrackIR 4.1 in FSX DeluxI've had to install SP2 to get gauges to work with a new plane.Since installing SP2 I'm getting bad horizontal tearing when panning with Track IR :( I've set Wait for vertical refresh in CCC to Always On, no change.Any help really appreciated.

Howdy all!I must say I've been having a miserable time with my new EVGA GTX 480. I finally found out what was wrong though.I'm using an Asus P6T SE motherboard, when I put my shiny new GTX 480 in it, everything quit working. Windows would freeze at the "welcome" screen, if it even got that far. Sometimes it would freeze during POST and sometimes it wouldn't even get that far.I thought it was my overclock causing problems, so I was in the BIOS re-setting things and it froze in there too.I had only had the card for 3 days so I called the store, they said they'd exchange it, instead of the hassle of RMA through EVGA. Turns out EVGA had a batch of GTX 480's with power iss…

HiI read somewhere that the updates in directX are usually to fix bugs and if your system is working, leave it as it is.My directX version dates for 2007-2008.I recently upgraded my graphic card (8800GTS-320Mb -> GTS 250 1Gb) with updated NVidia drivers and I wanted to know if I would see an improvement in updating DirectX as well?My system is DualCore+4Gb RAM on XP 32bits, flying FS9.ThanksGhiom

I was using BP=0 for a few months, and I think it created many spikes and video issues on my system. I changed it to BP=1 this morning. So far, no spikes and not a real change in performance. Is there a consensus on this tweak....and I'd be interested in hearing it.Stan

I think I am ready to change my 3-year old card to accommodate my new 24" widescreen.I have a few concerns though:1) I need to replace the driver. Should I use the one provided with the card or download a better recent one? if ever there is.2) should I simply uninstall the existing driver or do I need to use drivercleaner in safemode? In that case, do I need to remove the display drivers or also the chipset?3) nHancer? Do I have to uninstall it or it can stay as it is with its settings?4) should I expect performance gain: my GPU is a 3-year old DualCore-2.7Ghz on socket 775?Thanks very much for your help on that questions.Ghiom

Boy was that a backwards step from a 280 to a 250.....What I am thinking is a gtx 480 and bump up to 6GB of memory. Also, should I ditch Vista and go with Windows 7 ? How much of a headache would changing OS be? Never have done that.......... Any advice would be appreciated…

I've tried a variety of tweaks with my 480GTX but with some of the more resource intensive add-ons I'm seeing framerate jumps anywhere between 25-100FPS just sitting on the ground. Does anybody have any suggestions that may bring some stability?Thanks.Davei7-930 @ 3.36Ghz, 12g 1333Mhz DDR3, Windows-7 x64 Home Professional

Installed a GTX 470 a couple weeks back. Was using the 257.21 drivers with good result (FS9, XP 32). Started to get crashes to black and screen freezes with the "d3d9.dll" error. Ran dxdiag and it said that my d3d9.dll was old and to update DirectX. Did that...still tells me my version of d3d9.dll is old. Not sure what to do at this point. Is there any way to update this dll? Any help welcome.

I am thinking about building a computer for FSX sometime in the near future and I'm wondering which graphics card to get. I am think of either a gtx465 http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/01G-P3-1465.pdf or a gtx 460superclocked EE (external exhaust) http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/01G-P3-1373.pdf . I am curious which card would be a better choice considering the specs are very similar. BTW what does external exhaust mean.

I finally "upgraded" from my 3-year old GTS8800 (320Mb) to a new GTS 250 with 1Gb of RAM. Drivers have been updated as well.I have the same FS9 settings and same nHancer settings. What I am seeing:1) less framerates, more stutters2) much more jaggies and far less smooth picture (AA not as efficient). Is this normal?I am surprised considering the performance of the GTS 250 should surpass those of the 8800.I am using the Driver 185.85.Can someone advise, please.ThanksGhiom

  18. It looks like I've missed the boat on grabbing a good quality GTX285 (anyone know where I can get these in the UK or anyone who ships to the UK???) so I'm considering a GTX470. Would I have a more balanced Q9650 system with a GTX285 however?

I have ordered the EVGA superclocked GTX 480 Fermi gpu to replace an older 260 GTX to complete my new i7 930 rig. I run WinXP64, and have learned of a BSOD issue with this card in FSX SP2 on this OS. Does this bug manifest itself only in the newer Nvidia drivers, or will i be safe if I use an older driver like the very stable 182.50? I am grateful for NickN's work with the Nvidia folks in working on correcting the issue, but I don't know how long it will be till this is resolved.Would I be better off leaving the 260 in the machine till a cure is found, can I just use and older driver with the new 480? I suppose I could also rollback FSX to SP1, but I fear that will…

Is a 22 inch monitor @ 1680 x 1050 considered to be wide screen as far as FSX is concerned? I ask because I recently have noticed after rebuilding my CFG that I forgot to set WideViewAspect back to true which is where I have had it. I sometimes get slightly distorted views with it set to true meaning the image seems a bit stretched. If I leave it at the default I dont see this happen and all views seem to be more in proportion. What do you guys think about it?

  23. For those interested, there is a June Direct X 11 update. I installed it and am having no issues as a result. It might help some that are experiencing CTD issues or FSX menu hangs. Go to the Microsoft Direct X site and download/run the the Direct X setup installer.

Hello,At the moment I'm using a 9600GT 512MB NVidia card. I know that FSX needs more CPU power than graphics power. But what do you think - Is it useful to switch from 512MB to 1GB graphics memory when using sceneries like ORBX Brisbane with high resolution ground textures or detailed 3D object sceneries like US Cities X?Thanks,Patric

First off I do not have FSX. I still run FS9 and I have been simming since the mid 80's.I was at a friends the other day and he was showing me his FSX configuration. His setup includes one 37 inch and three 19 inch monitors driven by Vista and a fairly large computer with a very large video board. The 19" monitors were crisp and clear, but not so much with 37" unit. Are there special drivers required to run FSX on such a large monitor? To me, many of the gauges looked slightly strange and while on the ground I often times saw flashes of light in the background. Also, his frame rates in the 2D cockpit mode were good, much lower in the VC mode, but the frame rates never…
