Hi everyone I am thinking of upgrading my pc. It will intel to intel upgrade. Can you please advise if the new build can boot up from my existing system drive, or would I need to do a fresh installation of windows and reinstall everything. In the past...many years ago....I did a new build and I think the system did boot up from old hard drive. I have Windows 10 now, is there any advantage in Windows 11 for msfs2020. I have Windows 11 free update on my laptop. I haven't experienced any major advantages in general computing. All advise will be welcomed. Qas

After being an Intel man for the past 14 years, I have been very tempted to make the jump to the new Ryzen 7800x3D. My decision, which is yet to be made in concrete, is based on reviews and opinions shared elsewhere and also on YouTube. I thought it would be prudent to ask advice on Avsim before making the big leap. There is a deal on at the moment on Amazon, which effectively includes the MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk motherboard and 32Gb (2x16) 6000Mhz CL36 DDR5 RAM, at a price considerbaly less than having to upgrade my Intel system. I have got a little tired of having to continually throw away components whenever I want to upgrade my Intel chip, so that, combined with the rep…

Today I just reported a weird bug on ASXP12 to HiFi with logs, and they suggest me that I shouldn't put my XP and ASXP in B:\ I have been use B: as my main sim disk for more than 5 years, before that I have a computer build for years and the HDD have range from c to IDK R or T? I kept all my HDD with new build back then, but added 2 SSD, one for main system and one for game, To make the letter simple, I name them A: and B:, the main system ofc loaded as C:, but as I don't like win10 I installed back then, It's been on a "Backup" one in A:\ drive, and the other SSD have spited to B:\ for mainly sim but also some game that I want faster load speed, and C:\ for win7. …

This is a complete mystery to me, but yesterday i was playing MSFS , My pc crashed in the middle of the flight and wouldn't turn on again. My system is a gigabyte z790 aorus ax, rtx 4070ti, 32gb ddr5 gskill 6000 trident z ram, And 2 Lexar 1tb m.2 nvme in raid 0 with a 8tb storage drive The CPU is a 13600k, which handles anything I threw at it. After messing with the pc the rest of the day, One m.2 died in my raid 0, So I lost all my flight sims currently installed, Then my pc would only boot with one stick of ram. I tried each ram stick by themselves and the pc would not boot with one of the sticks by themselves, But the other stick booted up the pc. I was able to get wi…

  7. Hi, I have motherboard listed in the title. I want to add another SSD to my system. I have four SSD M2 slots. The first one is currently occupied by original SSD that came with PC. The second slot is covered by my video card and 3rd and 4th slot are easily accessible! My question is: do I have to install my second SSD into second slot ? Or I can install it to easily accessibly 3rd and 4th slot without touching my video card? Thanks in advance

  8. Currently i5 9600k, MSI Z390 gaming plus mobo, DDR4 32gb memory, CM ML240mm AIO, MSI RTX 2060S 8gb gpu. A whole new build of 13th gen 13700k it means new mobo, new aio and new ram which means an additional $1700 cost here. But if i just go for an RTX 4090 with a new i9 9900k it'll save a lot but major concern is the bottlenecking. Mostly flight simming in DCS and MSFS at 1440p and i don't have VR yet but would consider in future. Budget is suitable for both but dont wanna spend extra 2 grands for a mariginal gain.

Both CPUs, i13900K or i13700K, have 8 performance cores. The difference are the efficient cores (16 or 8). Somewhere I've read the effcient cores should be excluded for the sim (Prepar3D) since they could cause stutters. So if only performance cores are used for CPU hungry sims, why buying the more expensive i13900K? Because of 5.8 GHz Turbo instead of 5.6 GHz? Another difference is power consumption. How can the i13700K have a max. TDP of 125 W, whereas the i13900K has one of 253 W? The efficient cores are should not be the most power using parts. Looking forward to your opinions? Dan

Just bought a new PC - Intel I9 13900K and nVidia 4090 - so a pretty powerful beast - particularly as I had come from a Intel i7 6700 and nVidia 1080. The previous set up worked Ok'ish - but one thing I noticed is that when I went to external view - I often experienced 'lines' or the screen going black. Strangely when I went back in the cockpit - the views were fine. Now with the new PC beast - I am still experiencing a degree of the same issue in external view. If for example I set GSX to load, fuel, catering and passengers and switch to external view - I get flickering and sometimes a black screen. When I take a look - CPU is at 1 or 2% - yet GPU is at 1…

Hi everyone I am thinking of upgrading my pc. I have i9 9000 with 32gb ddr4. Deciding on the cpu, and the ram, was easy. But when I look at the motherboard options ...its a nightmare. Originally I thought anyone of these; gigabyte arous z790 elite Asus z790 f Msi tomhawk. Or similar would be ok. But having listened to few YouTube etc. It seems that some z690 are equally good. My reason for upgrade is purely to see an improvement in msfs2020. can you please share you suggestions and experience. I am trying to do the upgrade as cheap as possible. Many thanks. Qas

Hi I might get a Reverb G2 so I need a motherboard with display port. My old MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon (LGA 1151, Z390, ATX) doesn't so I might get: Gigabyte Z590 VISION D (LGA 1200, Intel Z590 Express, ATX) what confuses me is the base. Can I still plug my i9-9900k? What else to care about? Probably I should also replace my old RTX2080? Many thanks

  18. Hi folks, I think I’m finally going to make the final switch from FSX to MSFS. My current sim build is about 6 years old and it’s time for a new computer build to go along with the full switch to MSFS. My budget is modest. Something like a a GTX from Jetline Systems isn’t in the cards for me, so I’m looking for some feedback on a custom build that I can afford. Here’s what I’m thinking so far: CPU: Intel i7-13700KF Graphics: MSI Ventura 3X GeForce RTX 4070 Motherboard: Gigabyte B760 Altus Elite AX Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB (2x16GB) 5600 CL30 Cooling: undecided, air cooling SSD: Samsung 980 Pro with heat sink (1TB) (OS w…

So. My new build is complete. 7950x3d paired with 32gb 6000mHz cl 30 memory. Only M.2 disks and that 'slightly' ridiculously large 4090 which fit well into my new O11 Dynamic Evo case. Front glass panel exchanged in favour of the Lian-Li mesh front, where I plan on installing a couple of 140mm fans later on when everything is tuned and up and running. Will be interesting to see the impact on temps as well with some extra fresh air from the front fans. Building and tuning is the fun part. Now comes the utter nightmare of installing everything again - and I am not talking about the OS as that is over and done with in a jiffy. It's all the other stuff. Licenses for…

I'm thinking about getting a new Dell XPS to replace my 11 year old Dell XPS 8500. The new configuration would contain a i7-12700K cpu, 16 gb of ram, a NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti 8gb GDDR6, LHR video card and a 1 Tb SSD. I'd add a second 1 Tb SSD. I've thought about building a machine but really don't want the hassle. Will this support MSFS adequately? Thanks in advance. Jim Driskell

Looking to upgrade my machine due to a power issue. Anyway I currently have a 2060Super and AMD3600X, 16GB RAM and only sim in 1080 for now. I’ve been given a quote which is just on budget and it includes a 4070 GPU and 5700X CPU… Am I better off keeping 2060 for now and putting coin into a better CPU or what should I do?? Remembering this is currently on a budget maybe slight over so a 4090 is out of the question
