Hi, I will be purchasing a new pc for GA flying using 1440 resolution. My budget is less than $1500 and that has me looking at a 4070 gpu (12 gb VRAM) with a cpu Core i7 12th Gen 12700F. the other option is a 4060 ti (8 gb VRAM) but with a i7 13700 cpu. Is the 12 gb VRAM the way to go? Thank you.

It's funny what can happen sometimes. Out of nowhere several days ago I started getting a strange graphic anomaly - no planes shown in the aircraft selection menu, or in the hanger when you go to options. Real weird as I never added or changed anything, plus a regular CTD was happening about 75% through the Fly loading screen, in Normal and Safe modes. It appeared I could not access my M.2 980pro either (community folder) and it was throwing an error at me. Nothing made sense. Had me super scared I was off down the MSFS reinstall route. Had already updated the Nvidia drivers, I was already googling the reinstall procedure. So in a final attempt at something, I unplu…

Gamer's Nexus offered T-Shirts with reminders of every computer hardware launch which their testers found "disappointing". Example, the March 29, 2022 YT video of their disappointing review of the launch of the RTX 3090 Ti. Back: Front: Unfortunately, or fortunately, these reserved T-shirta are sold out on Gamers Nexus store site.

Hello Folks; So i currently have a RTX 3060 (low end of the 30 series) and wanted to upgrade to the RTX 4070 TI since I am struggling with the 3060 and wanted to take advantage for FR Generation etc.etc. and to other goodies that goes along with the 70 series. I don't want to go crazy since I will be CPU limited anyway. I have a MSI MPG Z590 Gaming Edge M/B (PCIe 4.0) however when I installed the 4070 Ti its doesn't boot the monitor up, At first, I thought it was a DOA card but I returned it to the local store and got another brand new card and the same issue, can't be 2 bad cards in a row🙂. I am now thinking that the MB may not support this card which is strang…

Hi all, After 7(!) venerable years i'm looking to upgrade from my spec'd for p3dv4 i7-6700k, 1070, 16gb ddr4 3200 system, which has been running MSFS on the whole adequately (with appropriate medium settings) to a new build. In the real world with things running in the background (FSLTL, Volanta, Simbrief downloader blah blah) and not a clean install to do 'what are the numbers tests' every other day, and dirty great pile of things in my community folder fbw a320 (and others using the avionics base) pmdg 737, fenix A320, upcoming TFDI MD-11 and loads of european airports (big to small) what is overall best way to go to bring my computer into the modern world? (n…

I’ve seen the benchmarks running MSFS and it would seem there are significant gains to be had with a 4090 at 4K. It’s a complete system upgrade, so not cheap, but this is flight simming so nothing is cheap 🙂 Has anyone done this upgrade? Anyone considered it?

Hello, I have installed a second NVMe M.2 SSD on my system and it's not getting recognized in BIOS. I have a NVMe SSD (500 GB) where Windows is installed (C:), I have a 500 GB SSD where MSFS2020 is installed (D:) and a 2TB HDD where all my other stuff is installed (E:). Since I was running out of space on my (D:) drive, I decided to buy a 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD and clone my MSFS2020 install to the new one drive. My motherboard (Asus Z390 Prime-A) has two M.2 slots. I have my OS drive installed on the M2_2 socket and installed the new one on the M2_1 socket. Both are Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD. Is there some kind of incompatibility I am not awar…

I have some questions re setting up an SSD, I have: # Samsung Evo 860 1TB SATA SSD. # Windows7. Initially I wanted to just add the SSD as additional storage to put DCS on. Q1) In BIOS my storage mode is IDE, does the SSD *need* AHCI enabled to run with all it's features enabled - particularly TRIM function? (I believe with Windows7 I would have to reinstall Windows after enabling AHCI.) Q2) I was going to: # Upgrade the SSDs firmware. # Enable Performance power profile. Is there anything else I need to enable in windows to help maximise performance of the drive? Q3) Does the choice of file system matter for an SSD in terms of performance? Q4) I was…

Tonight I added a 4TB M2 drive to my computer. The drive itself is working fine, but now when I boot up I get an error message: CPU Fan Error! Press F1 to Run Setup If I press F1 to enter bios, then exit the bios without saving anything, all seems to work well. All of my fans are spinning, hot air is being pushed out and the CPU is not overheating. I did a test in the Fenix A320 at inibuilds JFK with AI traffic and my CPU did not burst into flames. I had to remove my GPU to get at the M2 socket, but the GPU is working fine and I've double checked all other connections, particularly the CPU_FAN and AIO connections into the motherboard to ensure I didn't …

Hey guys, I have a buyer lined up for my 3090 at a decent price and I’m looking at a 4090, right now I rarely see my CPU usage anywhere near 50%. I’m looking to get into a 40xx card for frame generation. Will my current i7-12700K have trouble being paired with a 4090? I’ve never really seen my CPU break into a sweat. I currently don’t have any plans to get into VR but maybe that’ll change in the future. I do really love my 55 inch Sony X90J Would like to hear your thoughts, I did think about a 4080 but I figured if I’m going to do this I may as well go for a 4090

Hello all; Recently I completed a build with good flight sim performance as the main goal. I Installed MSFS. When I check processor use (i13900K) most of the cores (Real and virtual) remain parked. I did a search online and in AVSIM for this problem and all I saw was how to disable core parking via regedit. I'm comfortable with regedit and made the change and the cores remain parked. The question is: Should I leave the processor the way it is (parking several cores even when running the sim) or should I force the cores on? If I do need to force the cores on, how would I do it? (Keeping in mind I did the regedit "fix" to turn off core parking which did not work) …

I have so many devices for MSFS: 3 Logitech panels, 2 other panels, 2 StreamDecks, stick, throttle, pedals, and a CH Quad. So, sometimes not everything used to power up with a system reboot. Hit or miss. Every device set in Windows Control Panel to not allow being turned off. That did not cure the issue. This powered and switched hub solved the issue. Power supplied from AC mains helps to solve such issues. But more importantly, the switches allow reconnecting much easier than unplugging/replugging each USB plug. This Hub has 13 ports, 2 port switches, and is AC powered. Each switch controls 6 or 7 ports. If something doesn't power up (StreamDeck not …
