Hi All I probably spend 80% of my time flying with speakers - although i only have a basic setup using these guys https://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Inspire-T10-Multimedia-Speakers-Black/dp/B000WQIKJ0 I wondered if anyone has gone full surround sound at all? I would appreciate any speaker recommendations 🙂 Thanks Matt

Hi flyers I recently upgraded my PC from an i7-8700k to a 7800X3D (with AM5 based motherboard) after seeking advice on these forums, plus bought 32gb of DDR5 ram. The 7800X3D is an incredible processor for FS2020 and hopefully for FS2024 too. I am thinking of upgrading my current MSI 2080 8Gb graphics card to either an Nvidia 4070Ti Super 16Gb or an Nvidia 4080 Super 16Gb to be released this month. I will read the various reviews between the different brands once they are out i.e. in terms of speed, price, performance, warranty etc. My current PSU is 650W and I see that c. 700W (4070Ti Super 16Gb) and min 750W or 850W recommended (4080 Super 16Gb) appe…

Hey Guys. I've got to the point where my flight sim gear is not allowing me to configure my setup without major sacrifice. This is made worse by my current L type shaped desk. Also I spend many days using the rig for my day job. Anybody have any experience with these desks? The price is heavy, but I like the features and size.

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my PC. I currently have a 9900K and RTX4090, with a 4K 120Hz Gsync monitor. I'm using the PC for MSFS (mostly airliner flying), gaming and music production. I'm going to keep the 4090 of course, but I was wondering about the CPU choice. I've read quite a few articles about the new 14900K, its consumption and running temperature. Read a bit as well about the 7950X3D and the need to use the xbox gamebar to park the cores (the 7950X3D is more appealing to me than the 7800X3D given the music production needs) Now that the 14th gen is released, has there been a general consensus about the best CPU in MSFS? Seems like the X3D still has …

Hello! So, I'm a real world pilot who's completing my CPL and I need this sim to study and also for self enjoyment. However I'm not versed at all on computer specs so I was wondering if you guys would help find out if my pc can run the game, I know running it perfectly is next to impossible but to a playable enough level, you know, at least 20 fps. Intel Core i5 10400 CPU 2.9 ghz Ram: 16 GB Graphics Card: Nvidia GT 740 4GB GDDR5 I want it so much but I don't wanna make the investment and find out it doesn't get past the loading screen. Game stores seem to be unwilling to help me find out. Any help is much appreciated. Have a great day everyon…

I currently use a laptop with GTX 1650 Ti and Ryzen 5 4600H. Looking to upgrade to a PC in a couple of months. These are the specs I have in mind- Ryzen 7 7700x Gigabyte RTX 4070 Eagle OC 32GB DDR5 RAM 1TB SSD 1440p Samsung Odyssey G5 Monitor Will these specs be enough for me to run X-plane 12 with high graphics settings at a stable 30-40 FPS? (with an aircraft like the Rotate MD-11 at heavy load areas like New York)

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D reviews are out today (release is on 20th April), and perhaps not very surprisingly, Microsoft Flight Simulator benefits a lot from the 96MB L3 cache, more than other games on average. A healthy ~40% performance increase from the standard 5800X, beating even the Core i9-12900KS. Source: LinusTechTips. AMD systems tested at DDR4-3600, Intel systems at DDR5-5600. Source: PCWatch. All CPUs tested at DDR4-3200. First three benchmarks at Ultra, last benchmark at Medium.

Hello, My 13900K is running very hot and I’m looking for any cooler recommendations. I’m running a Corsair H60x ELITE at the moment (single fan), and understandably, it’s not doing an awful lot. Is Arctic 360 AIO the way to go? Thanks, Mike

AMD 7800X3D or INTEL 14900k Thinking about an upgrade... Look below in sig for current PC specs. So I'm thinking of going with a 14900k but I'm a little concerned about the current draw. Most reviews show MAX wattage draw but that's not normal gaming wattage. I don't know so just estimating here, but if MSFS/14900k uses 150watts under default BIOS settings, what would it run with HT and E-cores all disabled? I'm assuming both do little in MSFS other then create heat. This would be great if someone has this processor currently and wanted to test this theory.

Let me start by saying Im not a system tweaker and though up to 10 years ago I used to build a new system every year or 2 I always tended to leave it well alone after initial setup apart from Windows re installs and clean ups. Also, Im not an FPS watcher, I don't even know what FPS i have in MSFS I just judge things by eye So..Im building a new system and much has changed in the 10 year gap and there are a myriad of settings available on the hardware I will be using and I also have some choices in what memory I end up fitting and the opportunity to test some different hardware setups before finalising the build I don't have the time to run Flight sim whilst…

I am shopping for inexpensive graphic card for my system. I currently have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 and am my system can support up to a 4057. I checked the prices and the RTX 4057's little expensive for what I was looking for. Any suggestions for a good inexpensive graphics card between the 1080 and 4057 range? Thanks for the feedback. Happy Holidays.

All, My PC is roughly built in early 2018 with the upgrade of x2 NVME in the last two years (Bottlenecked by my CPU/Mobo). My current specs: I am wondering if it would be easy to transition to a new Mobo and CPU setup, presumably all my parts should work well? What else in the above would I have to change. Just hoping I could reuse the case, and some of the non-redundant parts that I have. I also recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Changing Mobo should be okay for windows or would I have to re-purchase a new license key, or would the NVME be fine on a new mobo? Looking at running MSFS (FSL whenever it's out) and using Adobe Premier…

Hello, I'm considering the upgrade mentioned in the thread title, and I'm curious if anyone else here has done a similar upgrade and what your experience has been? This is in MSFS. The reality is that paired with my RTX4080 and the frame generation it provides, I'm pretty happy with my current performance except at large airports/large cities/lots of AI. Placed like New York/JFK, Toronto, Philadelphia, London, LAX etc with payware airports, an airliner and AI bring the system to its knees...I'm often getting as low as 12-15fps without frame generation resulting in 24-30 fps with frame generation but generally I find frame generation to be pretty stuttery at those l…

Someone on a Discord server earlier pointed me to a benchmarking article discussing the power draw between the Ryzen 7800X3D (arguably the best CPU for MSFS) and Intel's i9-13900K. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d/24.html I'm shocked to see these results. Comparing my chosen CPU (5800X3D) against the 7800X3D, sees the latter have a marginal win, despite running higher clockspeed, with the extra bonus that it is overclockable. If you have other requirements from your PC, then the CPUs with more cores are clear winners. Simply put, for productivity uses the 7800X3D is a poor value…

Hi everyone I am not sure what's possible and what's not when it comes to getting a new SSD for my computer because I am running out of space at the moment. Typically if you buy a new PC some will come with a smaller storage SSD and a larger mechanical hard drive. My question is: Do all the MSFS files hafta be on the primary (preferably SSD) in order to run? Can the program access info from another Drive in order for the Sim to run? Or do all the files, community folder and such hafta be on the same drive? I appreciate any technical input you guys can offer and thanks!

I have an odd problem that showed up in the last month or so. I think it has to do with my Gysnc monitor and RTX 4080 with frame gen, but I can't be certain. It seems to happen if I have background apps open that I alt +tab to - like photoshop when im doing paints or screenshots. The sim runs great, but sometimes I see a huge pause... like 10 sec, followed by this rubber-banding effect in MSFS.... anytime I move. Any object that move sort of flickers. And if I pan the view, interior or exterior, it does this. I finally was able to capture a short video with my mobile... usually it won't even show on the video which makes me think its fps related. The only …

It was recommended by @Bob Scott I download HWInfo and I'm glad I did. After monitoring CPU temps I was relieved to see my cooling system is working well. My question relates to the clock speed of the various cores. I had imagined all of the primary cores would run at the same speed - 5500. As you can see from the image below this is not the case. P4 and P5 run at 5800 compared to 5500 for the remaining 6. With HT turned off I have a total of 24 VPs. The Efficiency Cores run at 4300 which seems fine but it's the two fastest cores I wany P3D v5.4 to take advantage of. My JobScheduler entries in Prepar3D.cfg show 0, 2 and 4 are the best as determined by LM. B…

Here are some thoughts and a few lessons-learned from my recent build (specs in my sig): RTX4090 size--make sure the card fits in your case. My ASUS TUF Gaming 4090 is 14 inches long, and was too long to fit on the mobo without hitting the drive cage on my full-tower Coolermaster HAF-X cases. Additionally, the card is 7 inches high off of the motherboard, and the PCIe5 power connector requires a good 2.5 - 3 inches clearance to the side cover to allow for a reasonably gentle bend in the heavy power cabling without imposing a lot of side stress on the flimsy connector. Whoever designed the geometry of the connector apparently has never actually built a PC...it's a r…
