Just curious, since I see you are asking for donations. Is AVSIM forum a recognized 501c3 in the US? Would my donation, should I make one, be tax deducible? Thanks.

Dear Abby, I’ve been a regular user/visitor of AVSIM for almost 20 years, dating back to the previous forum software that used to show discussions threads in a branch-like structure. I’m writing for your help to solve a mystery for me. As shown at the bottom of each post, one can either “like” it or “upvote” it. Like is self-explanatory; what does an upvote do at AVSIM? I’ve seen that at Microsoft’s official MS2020 forum, upvoting a subject measures how many people think a post requesting a feature or bug fix is important, so Microsoft can gauge the amount of interest in it. Hello, a few hours after I made a post the FS2020 forum, I found this is now in "Hangar Chat", presumably moved there by a moderator. It's fair enough; I have no objection. Just for my information, I'd just like to know what the procedure is: I could find no notification (either in the post itself ["Moved to..." or some such], or in my Messages) that this had been done. Hi. On several occasions, forum moderators have shut down discussions of climate and weather in the Hangar Chat forum. While I think we all understand that religion and politics are sensitive subjects that are best avoided, must we add climate to that list as well? What about alternative energy? Although AVSIM is focused on flight simulation and aviation, there have been for years discussions of other science and engineering topics. Would the forum moderators, and/or whoever is ultimately in charge here at AVSIM, please provide a list of which subjects are banned? Thank you. Dave

Hi all, I returned to these forums after almost a decade away but couldn't remember any of my old details and did not have access to the previous email account that was associated with it. I created a new account but was told by admins pretty swiftly that it was a duplicate account and that I should stop using the new one and go back to the old one (they reactivated it with a new email address). However, if I now attempt to use Chrome to access the forums I just get a big 'Banned: You do not have permission to view this site' message. I used to insert images in some of my posts but it has become impossible a few days ago. I use my own domain to store the images and try to insert a link, but the URL field turns pink and my image is not accepted. I respect the format (jpg or png), respect the size and resolution limits, so why does this happen? Thanks for any help.

Hi, I had a very bad experience with a scenery product. I am wondering if I can write my negative experience in Avsim or there are specific rules against negative reviews?

I am often receiving the following error when attempting to access Avsim from a second system (an Apple laptop). I originally thought the issue was from the shared profile I'm using in Chrome, but using Incognito mode and switching to Safari do not resolve the issue. The original PC (a windows workstation) that I signed up with never receives the error. I also theorized that the forum may think I'm attempting two concurrent sessions, so I made sure to log out of Avsim from the workstation before connecting with the laptop. The same issue is encountered. Has anybody come across this, and do you know what may be happening? Thank you!

Hi all, I was wondering - is it possible to hide a whole thread, somehow? I'm getting a little tired of all the haters, rant-threads in the Microsoft Flight Simulator forum, as well as the constant whining in there, with users, who (for some reason) cannot do this or think that the sim is unusable, because of some error or bug they've found, which apparently ruins the whole experience for them... 😞 It's getting really annoying, with these cup-half-empty threads, as I'm really enjoying the sim and have only praise left-over for it.
