Did avsim sign some kind of deal to display them? It’s gone from zero to multi ads per page.

Hello, I posted a sale for a complete flight simulator. I would like to edit my post and reduce the price, but I can’t edit my post. Is there a way to do this, or do I need to delete the post and create a new one? Thank you

Hey Avsim folks, Just thought you'd want to know that one of the full screen ads in the current rotation is one of those scam "you just won a bunch of money and all you have to do to collect is let us phish your identity" ones. Dunno if you can control the ads displayed but if you can, might want to check on that one. I'm seeing it using mobile Chrome on Android.

How does one follow a forum?

It says not to post questions in the MSFS2020 Tips and Tricks forum so where do I get help for MSFS2020? Jerry

Searching "no gp" returns posts with "gps" in them. I don't want to include gps. There a too many (don't know how to filter after that). Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have serious problems with the login to the AVSIM forum. EVERY TIME when i open the forum after closing the browser I'm logged out and I have to reenter my email & password. And EVERY time it says, my entered login data is invalid! Every Time I have to reset my password to use the forum. Whats the reason? I'm using Firefox with latest updates. Deleting cookies on browser closing is NOT activated! And I even added the avsim domain to the permission list. Ad-Blockers are deactivated.

Good morning. Is it there a way to see which words are included in the profanity filter that is installed in these forums? Yeah, someone may say "just write as if you were speaking with friends, in front of your mother". However, some words may pass this common sense filter (i.e., my mom would have no issues if I say them), but not the one here at Avsim, and you need to rework/remove the whole idea just because of this (IMO) overzealous filter. Maybe it's not yet frustating, but a bit annoying indeed if you have to rely on just trial-and-error.

I am getting a lot of 503 Service Unavailable server errors randomly. If I refresh the site or wait a while it comes back, but something is not right with this site imo. I immediately try another site and every time they load right away.

The last content on the Avsim Front Page on my system shows Sept. 5, 2022. I have cleared cache and restarted but nothing changes. Is this page no longer being updated? Thanks, Bill

I have been using FSX since 2011 and on Windows 7. When I purchased a new computer in late 2016, I still used windows 7 and the same FSX disc from the era. Since 2011 to at least 2016 with trouble shooting issues. I had to deal with many problems and fixes over that period with FSX, add on aircraft and CDT's etc.. Well, I had to get a new computer again but FSX is not compatible on this new Windows 10 system, so I purchased and downloaded FSX Steam. Hello, I am trying to ask a question in the general MSFS 2020 forum, but I can't write anything in the content field - I can create the Title, and add tags but the content field is locked. I can post here obviously, and I managed to post something VR related in the MSFS VR subforum, but no-go in the main one. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks!

I often read a post and cannot tell what year it was posted. The date of the post just says, for example, April 9. I spend time only to find out later from the content that the post is several years old. What am I missing? Thanks

I started a topic and it would be convenient if I could retain the option to edit the opening post for quite some time (like forever 😉 ). Is it somehow possible to request this? Maybe a mod can flag the opening post so it will never lose its ability to be edited? and

Hi, I recently cleared my browser's history including cookies so today I had to log in today. Somehow I was given the error that the display name is incorrect even though I had correctly typed "IrfanAhmed" without spaces. After a number of attempts the system locked my account for 14 minutes and I had to choose the reset password option in order to set a new password (even though there was no error about the password, just the display name) and I was automatically logged in. For several hours this afternoon/evening the “unread content” function has been completely inop.

But... Come in to unread content scroll down to bottom of list of Fenix post, find nothing of interest and click 'Mark as Read'. Nuffin. It doesn't work unless you've read at least one new post. Otherwise you have to traipse all the way to the top of the page to mark all as read. I'm a busy man, I don't have time for all this! I've not noticed this before, it appeared about a week ago. Or: It's been like that since just after the civil war and I haven't noticed. 😁

Haven't been around that much for some time and was surprised (and not in a positive way) when I noticed how there are ads popping up pretty much everywhere these days. Even to a degree where the ads interfere with some of the functions as seen below. Where an add is partly blocking the button I need to press to start responding to the posts I've selected. I also noticed when replying to another post using my mobile how I had ads moving around both just above and below where I was typing. Making it very hard to concentrate on what I wanted to type. Wasn't a pleasant experience in any way. I've donated to AVSIM in the past and I fully get it requires money to run…
