Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Hi, I can't find any settings for a Dark Mode like other Forum Software, is it hidden somewhere? or is it perhaps something I can wish for? 🙂 thanks

Hi, Everytime I visit the avsim forum it's a struggle to navigate through all the forum categories. I tried to toggle all of them I never use, but always I re-login they are showing as before. This is annoying, because most of the categories I do not use and it's a scrolling fight and difficult to find the right one instantly. Why does the forum software does not save my toggle preferences.

Hi, On most other forums when you click the Thread Title it takes you to the first unread message, on this forum it just takes you to Post#1 Page#1 so you have to manually go and find three latest unread posts which is a bit of a pain in a big thread. No matter what I've clicked on nothing takes me to the first unread, for example Post#45 on Page#3. Is there a setting I'm missing perhaps?* IGNORE... FOUND IT* Thanks

Hello, Do I need to include order ref information when posting to the appropriate forum.

I have seen the trailer on the new MS flight simulator. Is there a forum here that I could discuss pre-sale and functional questions? Just want to know a little bit more about the product and would like to chat with some beta users. Here's the dumbest question of the day. I do not see any button to push in order to reply to a post. I see a "quote" button and that let's me reply but my comments seem to be integrated with those of the original poster. Is there a "Reply" button that I am missing?? Best, Jim

Can we ask advice to problems we have with certain third party aircraft in FSX on this forum. If so, what is the correct forum to do this in. I was a little confused after looking at all the different categories on which one to use.

The site has lost its formatting. I have tried rebooting, clearing out my cookies, and even tried on multiple machines. It doesn't look right no matter how many times I refresh. Please help. It's very hard to navigate now because it doesn't pick up the .css file for some reason.

The seach and user activity functions on the forums have appeared to have fallen over yet again. No results are returned when searching the site and I have no post history at the moment. This seems to happen every few weeks. Can anything be done to make them more stable?

Asking cause I just changed my display name from LastTrainHome to EvidencePlz and was wondering if display names are unique and exclusive once someone chooses one? Cause if that's not the case, someone else can decide to change their display name to EvidencePlz tomorrow and falsely represent me for malicious purposes, right?

I'm trying to insert an image from amazon photos. Basically, I upload it to them and the click the share link. It generates a pretty big url such as https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/QEaazLXBRvKfj9zzi35-og.WJQQ7me0IVGPY5DPn74GXi and I insert the url, but it turns pink (what does that mean?). I turned off virus scanner, identity protection etc.. and the plugin in chrome, but still no joy.

When posting in the AVSIM Flysimware forum, for which I am a moderator, I do not get the full complement of positing options, such as the ability to change the font, align the text, change colors, etc. In the other AVSIM forums I do get all the usual posting options. I use the Firefox browser. Thank for any ideas, Al

Good afternoon and Happy Easter to you all. Hope this find you all well. Here my problem: After a success flight with the PMDG NGXu 900ER I closed P3D v 4.5 and ended my day. Upon loggin this morning I got the following error message: "The code execution cannot proceed because VCUNTIME140 1.DLL WAS NOT FOUND. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem". I uninstall all my PMDG products, rebooted the PC and attempted to reinstall my PMDG products to no avail. the same message keeps popping up. Any suggestion. My next thought was to do a clean install of P3D v 4.5 but I was hoping there was an easier route. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide. …

It may be my failing memory, but I thought there used to be a link to draw Avsim's attention to a topic which could be inappropriate or offensive. Such an instance occurred today with a topic title using a term which would be considered offensive by disabled people. It's use in the UK would be be an offence, and could involve prosecution, but there is currently no easy way to advise Avsim of this.

Any idea why I suddenly have problems inserting a screen shot into my thread? Screenshots are hosted on my own domain and I've posted probably hundreds so far. Starting about 0800 PDT 25 Dec '19 the forum stopped correctly formatting for mobile devices. Are any others experiencing this?

One of the recent ads popping up is for Gumtree (not sure if you have that in the USA, but in the UK it's a little like ebay, but also has free stuff). Anyhow, recently it was displaying ladies clothing (hey, I was looking for something for my wife!). The ad displays a montage of images. One image was a of a pair of ladies socks. The picture was taken from the back, showing the soles of the socks. The lady was kneeling down. The trouble is that the photo wasn't cropped as much as it should be: She wasn't wearing anything else... at all! . Not a problem for me, being a straight guy, but obviously the image is way out of order for AVSIM. (£10 for the socks apparently..…
