Help Using the AVSIM Forums

06:30 EDT and I am seeing slow and incomplete loading of pages once again.

Problem accessing Avsim again today. Symptoms same as last week's server problem. Very slow access and Home page mostly comes up blank, with just the header banner, Most header titles did not respond. Eventually managed to access 'Report an Issue' form via the Forums header, but could not send it because system kept timing out. I don't see any website notification of a problem. Now trying this means of contact.

Seeing extreme performance degradation on my end. Posts taking forever to actually post or save, "like" button appears broken but still works, no avatars, all in all a very poor experience from a performance perspective.

Something happen? Logging onto the site has been agonizingly slow recently, and my profile pic has disappeared. I also cannot download files in the file library, keep getting "504 Gateway Time-Out - The server didn't respond in time" message after staring at the download page for a couple of minutes. Not critiquing, just wondering what's going on. Thanks. EDIT: Also, it took a couple of minutes for this message to post in the forums. [had to try re-posting multiple times when posting this edit as I kept getting 504 gateway timeout errors again]

I would gladly donate if it would result in stopping the incessant ads.

I'm having real trouble with this account. I don't log out, but after a while it logs itself out , and it never uses the same password I have I before. So.. every time I try to log in with the password I created before, it says it's the wrong password and keeps me out. The only way to get back in is to change the password, so it's secured. Can you help, please? Gary

I don't know if this is something everybody experiences or just me? Whenever I click on the next page inside a topic, it automatically scrolls down to the bottom. I have to manually drag it back up to read the posts. Pretty weird and annoying. Thanks for helping.

You put a mandatory doormat ad right in the middle of search results, which not only blocks my view of the middle of the page but also won't let me click anything in the search page. The only thing I can do is click the ad. Firefox.

I get that Avsim needs revenue from popups; but I did a search and could not exit. My screen was totally taken over; I tried the X and every option except "find out more". This is ridiculous.

I seem to have somehow marked a forum (X-Plane general discussions) as "read". Possibly by clicking on the name of the forum in the listing? Anyway, is there any way I can set it back to "unread"? TIA

Hi, probably it has already been asked in another post but I could not find it. Is there an option to view the forums in dark mode? If not, will it ever be implemented? Thanks!

Seriously, whenever I want to do anything on the site, I get an ad popup each time I click on anything in the forum. If I load a page, to read a forum post, I get a popup, If I do a search, I get a popup, If I click the next page, I get a popup, If I open the site on startup, I get a popup. If I walk away and come back, I get a popup. What's going on? I understand ads make revenue for the site but how about only one popup, not on every single click. This is my go site for everything flight sim related, and I would hate to lose out on helpful information because the site is like this. I have security programs, but it still doesn't work. So I use 2 computers usually, my main flight sim one and a laptop. When I switch from one to the other, I see the site layout differently and I always have to log in after switching (true in different browsers, but currently on Mozilla Firefox on both). I prefer the layout on my desktop. Maybe this is a cookie thing with mobile vs desktop versions of avsim? Is there some way I could get the desktop site layout on my laptop and maybe stay logged in? Been like this for at least a couple years so not a biggie. scott s. .

Can it be arranged to allow more time to edit a post before the 'Edited by Blah Blah' sticker is put on. For instance, I type %% and posted. Doh! I meant 55. I pressed Edit IMMEDIATELY. 10 seconds would do it.

In the last few days I've noticed I no longer have a "like" box. All I see now is a grey square with a ? in it. Is Avsim having forum software issues? I see this on multiple systems, ie: Mac, iPhone, PC, iPad. Thanks.

Greetings, Avsim staff. There is a constant issue in your platform that in my 18 years using Avsim it has never been this annoying. It’s now cumbersome and takes away from what used to be a pleasant experience. The issue? I've noticed a change in the forums that I like: a blue line marking where did I leave a thread the last time I read it. However, if I'm browsing the forums, I can get directly to the first or last post in a thread. With threads such as the FS2024 trailer ( I guess the hottest one I've ever seen in Avsim's history), apart from memorizing the last page I read, is it there a way to jump directly to the first unread message, instead of the last message?

Hi, having trouble accessing the classifieds ads. I have a flight deck for sale that I would like to list there but cannot click on it to post there. Anyone know what the problem is?

For last 2 days Avsim front page only loads the heading banner and subsection menu bar. with no content below that. Others are reporting problems with Avsim library. Prior to this the website has been slower to load than usual. This has happened at various times for a few weeks.

In the last few days I have not been able to see the above type file pics on posts. I am traveling abroad and using a VPN . Might that have anything to do with this? I am not having similar issues at any other websites I frequent. Thanks Sherm
