Help Using the AVSIM Forums

New here and I am trying to get the jist of how to post a small photo in my signature. Searched everywhere on here but cant find a direct answer, lots of info about posting regular pictures for people to view, but nothing that I can find about a small picture in the signature.I've read the rules, and see that a direct upload of a small reduced size .jpg picture is not allowed anymore like I have done over the years for adding to a signature, and that pictures must be hosted somewhere else online with a direct link to them for posting, ok I can figure all that out, No problem. I really wish that moderators would not be so quick to lock threads when an interesting conversation is taking place. I do appreciate that moderators have a job to do, but at least give the rest of us some time to take part before the dreaded padlock is added. In this case, I am referring to the "ORBx confusion" thread. Unfortunately, I was too late to enjoy that all too brief discussion. EDIT: it seems that some posters decided to have a go at the moderators (for whatever reason), so maybe this one was justified. Hello, I note suddenly today that the forum pages are filled with empty boxes with an X at the corner, and things that I used to recall seeing are no longer present. maybe they were in the boxes. Also I am beleaguered by the same type of ads that follow me on other commercial websites, likes ads for a rental car on an upcoming trip , pants, etc. and I really do not remember those before. I like the ads for flight simulator stuff but am dismayed to see those other ads which dramatically slow down the webpage loading. Has something changed at AVSIM to cause this. The issues are the same in IE 11 and Edge. Using Windows 10 Greg

Hi, I searched but it seems that it is not possible to increase the number of threads displayed per page? I imagine that this is to avoid to create to much workload on the server ?

Hello AVSIM, I am officially an word not allowed. I went to sign into my AVSIM account on a different PC than usual, I.E. no auto-fill or such so I went to log in with Facebook and ended up getting the "Select screen name" tab which I hit cancel on, since I though it was to make a new account. Well looks like I just deleted my AVSIM account. Now I cannot use my actual email like I have on my "actual" account. The name was Andrew Urbanczyk. Is there a way I can get that back? However, when I try to edit my profile and click on the profile picture, I get no option to upload any image. Just a single prompt for "Photo type", but the only available option is "No Photo". Hello, I am trying to create a personal stream (unread of list of forums). Everything is ok up to "save stream" where I can give it a name. But I don't know how to use it ... I don't see any menu entry for that ! And I am registered from long time, autologon works,cockies and ads are allowed 😉 Thanks for your help. Gérard

I've just tried to read two separate articles Ray's Review of Xtreme Lear Jet and Ryan's 'mini review' of same aircraft. In both cases the images are just showing as placeholders on my iPhone and iPad. Any ideas please? thanks

Last week every time I hit my AVSIM book mark on my Android tablet using Chrome I get a white page "This site can't be reached. Below I see a ERR_SPDY_INADEQUATE_TRANSPORT_SECURITY. This only happens on the Android. I get AVSIM fine on my PC, phone or the wife's iPad. I've tried everything from emptying browsing cache to rebooting my WiFi and changing site settings. Best I understand this has something to do with encryption at the site. Over my head in that kind of stuff. Don't know what else to do. All the other web page book marks are OK. Seems it's just AVSIM I have this issue. Open to any help-advice. THANKS IN ADVANCE. I have the problem with YAHOO as well …

Has anything changed in the last day or so regarding the unread content tab? Before i used to get a whole page of topics posted in the last hour and longer,but now it tells me that i have nothing,but going to the individual forums i can see posts that have been put up in the last few minutes

For a few days already I get this message when I try to reach the P3D subforum during evening hours (UTC): "AVSIM is currently offline due to scheduled maintenance, we anticipate being available by 0600z." Just now I discovered almost all other forums are accessible and online and only the P3D forum gives me that message! What's going on here? Is the P3D forum actually closed at certain hours while rest is still open...?

I saw something show up in the site ads that is concerning. At the top center are two small adds, one for emailloginnow.com and the other for emailaccessonline.com I took the time to google both domains and they are both treated as virus/trojan installers. I realize we need the advertising to help pay for the site, but I hope we don't need to support malware like this. Here is a picture of the ads displaying...
