Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Heya, when I go to www.avsim.com in Chrome or a clean FireFox, I get: this page is not redirecting properly.

For over 7 years I have included a link in my signature to my weather website and a small php file that displays current weather conditions. Since 19:45hrs on 14 March this is no longer being updated. The link is to a site I pay for hosting so there's no overhead on AvSim servers. I like to think this provides a useful public service. Good morning, Over the weekend and again today, I get a warning about the AVSim digital signature being incorrect and I've had to use the "not recommended" button to access the forum. I have only a very basic computer knowledge, so I hope I'm doing nothing wrong!

Is anyone else having problems with the message "like" buttons or is it just me? The heart symbol is greyed out. I know it's working for some folks... I can see the likes on messages. I'm running Firefox and Windows XP Thanks! Cheers JHW

Jim Young, big thanks for getting the Activity Streams working, the ability to filter content and save it is a real bonus!

I'm excited as I was able to move Rules and Policies out from under the Forums tab and give it a separate Tab. I also eliminated "Forums" under the Forums tab. Now you just click on Forums and you are in the Forums! Neat concept huh? Best regards, Jim

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but on other sites using this web software there is an option to save your own activity stream allowing you to select individual topics and therefore filter the list of items in the stream. Is this something the team are looking to add or am I missing something obvious?

Hello Staff Mods and Forum designers, I know its early days getting to know your brand spanking new IPS4, there are many tweaks you have planned and are yet to implement, familiarize, and knock into shape. No doubt you have discovered already as have other early adopters, that certain features of the old style board will unfortunately not make it back into this IPS4 version. For the most part it is just a learning curve we must all learn to live with, as security and ongoing support are essential to a smooth running Website/Forum. (Emogies are not so good in this version as some have discovered already, as well as the right panel message board can be tricky to implem…

After the forum upheaval, and my congratulations to the poor buggers who had to do the upgrade! I have run a forum myself and I know how flakey forum software can be. One thing, no, two things remain. please can we have a different colour to differentiate between AVSIM and Orbx? I know it can be done, I've seen the website. Oh, and a few more smileys please. At least the ordinary :-) Apart from that it's working well and the speed has returned. Do those two little things and you can take a break.

I know you guys are busy with the new format and putting out fires left and right from the outcome of that....however any clue as to why my post count went from just shy of 5000 (I was monitoring it because I was going to release a repaint of the 5000th Boeing 737 to coincide on my 5000th post). As you can plainly see in the screenshot, I was at 4,967 a few days ago...and if you look just to the left below my avatar, I'm now just over 2000? How on earth does that happen? Has it happened to anyone else here? You can also see I'm about to reach my FIFTEENTH year as a member at Avsim (I've been here since this website started). Not sure if that means anyt…

Is there any chance we could have a link or jump to 'Forums' on the front page , possibly under categories. it would save time scrolling down. many thanks bob

Hi, still the site is under renovations?. For me it's almost impossible to download a single file from the library, as it gets cut at some point during the download process. Ed

On my menu drop down list, "Content" and "Settings" are grayed out.

It was very enjoyable to click on Avsim in the address bar, arrive at the front page, click on forums, then on all forums (refresh) and see all the most recent active topics, and to see the topics we were involved with, without having to go through an hour or more of searching to find the different threads among hundreds of sub forums. Please bring it back, folks won't have time to keep track of their posts anymore.

I like the new site but since the upgrade, its been slow as molasses. My internet is fast so I don't how people with a so so service feel about. I figured it would take a bit of time since the site was reworked for things to fall in place. It's been a while now and things are still slow. Gnacino

Last two days the small text at the right top that lead to unread post has vanished.

I travel a good amount for work and frequently access Avsim on my iPad. One thing I have noticed is the blue boarder around the page, it seems that I am loosing about 1/4 of the screen. Is ther a setting I can change to remove the frame? Kevin

Woke up this morning to find that huge 747 image gone and replaced by a really nice Avsim logo that blends into the overall theme perfectly. Checked on my mobile and the site looks and works much better there as well. Thanks guys,

I have two issues with the forums that I wonder if someone can help me with. 1) When change from "everything" to "content I have posted in" the forums do not change to the new selection. I have found a crude workaround which is to click on Expanded or Compressed and then it works but really should filter properly once you make the selection. 2) When I click on a topic I have already visited, it takes me to page #1, post #1....why??? it should move to my last position in the thread as the old forums did. Other than this, everything is ok....although does take some time to get used to.

Wondering how members feel about the new P3D forum layout compared to the previous one?

Can RSS be made so that I can see which forum the post is from? I only see the subject and when I click on one, I see part of the message, with an option to click to see all the detail. I am using netvibes.com.

I have no idea what is happening or what order things are in. Either explain or recognize that things dont need to change for the sake of change.

Hi: Noticed today and also during the past days the Avsim website is quite slow for navigating and also for downloading files. Should it be because the forums new format/renovations or due to other factors?. Cheers, Ed

Looking at the upload option in my profile it only gives file types and maximum size. What are the ideal pixel dimensions?
