Help Using the AVSIM Forums

So, yeah, like so many others, I logged into the forums and got confused. Can someone explain how the changes can help people better use AVSIM to discuss flight sim? There are "questions", "topics" and "posts". If you want to post screen shots you have to ask a 'Question'...something that makes little sense. You also can't preview a topic, as far as I can tell. Haven't found a "go to last unread" or "mark as read". Items without a best answer are floated to the top. Why? Most items never get a best answer. There's 'voting'. What's it do? Also, it's harder for my eyes see which topics I've read. Is there a 'skin' that makes it easier t…

When I first opened my Avsim site this morning after the server update, I first noticed the fonts were extremely washed out and the new unread ones did not stand out from previous read messages. Is this a setting that the end user (I) needs to make on my computer. I noticed while typing this it looks like some word processing settings at the top of this window. Also the Font size appears much smaller too. Finally, will the section with the topics from the various forms be brought back? Also the one that showed when you replied or started a new topic so you could see the responses to your questions. Other than that, nice looking update. Terry

Hi, Please is there a way to change the size of forum characters (I want to reduce them) somewhere in some forum menu options ? Really no need to have characters of this size "2" ! It gives me the impression of a site for children ! ;-) Regards, Richard Portier

Where is the tab for new posts gone?

How do you see the threads you are active in? They are not showing up in my content, or when I click on forums, the way it did. I hope it is still being worked on, because there are so many sub, and sub sub of a sub forums that keeping track of more than two daily topics you are interested in would be impossible, unless all you have to do is sit and manually browse through the forums all day. I go to the forums about .05% of the time, I have always just clicked on the forum title up top, and would browse through the most recent posts that would be there on the right, and the posts I am active in on the left. Hi, Whether it be getting rid of those annoying multiple posts, self-deleting things we post in the wrong forum section, or simply getting rid of things that you wish you hadn't said, I really think a delete button would be a very useful feature all around, and probably also end up saving you guys some time too moving posts around. Would you consider doing this?

Hello folks, it seems for years that I have had problems with passwords in this site. I would always have to get a new password , and i could never figure out why. It dawned on me when trying to get in the library. It wanted a log in info, so I gave it; but It did not work. Using the log in cred. to get in the forums did not work. So I would always change the password to get in the library. So when days later I then try to get in the forum the password is wrong. The question is do you require two differant passwords for the forums and the library. If so why please, as for I have tremendous amouny of passwords already to remember;) THX.................…

Several times a day I access the AVSIM forums on my phone. Many times the link I have goes direct to the mobile version. Sometimes it goes to the web version but I can click the button at the bottom left to go to the mobile version. However recently even this mobile button doesn't seem to be working. I chnaged my email on my profile so new msg notification would go directly to my yahoo account, but i have not been receiving them. It worked faithfully under a different email, which I had to link into yahoo. Any ideas?

Seems to be a limitation when it comes to followed content, ie how many topics you can be subscribed to. Wasn't like this in the past as far as I can recall where now it seems I can't follow more than a couple of subjects at any given time. What is the actual limitation and what is the background for this limitation?

How can I change my email address in the AVSIM system?

Sometimes it's really helpful to know a poster's computer specs when reading their suggestions for diagnosing or fixing a problem, or to get a sense of how various components are working in relation to one another. It used to be that we posted our specs in the signature area of our profile, but a couple of years ago that was changed to entering the information in our profiles. Now I can't find the information I transferred to my own profile when that change was made, and can't find computer specs in other members' profiles either. Did I miss another change along the way or am I just not seeing how to access the specs? What is the status of this? Thanks.

Hello everyone, I am facing some problems with FSUIPC4 on FSX Gold Editition. I have installed FSUIPC as adminstrator and all of its files are installed in FSX's modules folder. However, FSUIPC never gets loaded by FSX. I realised that as soon as I launched FSX after installing FSUIPC, because the Simulator did not ask for my authorization to run FSUIPC. I checked FSUIPC Install log file, everything ok. I checked FSX.dll, everything looks normal. I really cannot understand what the problem is. I would appreciate your some help. Respectfully, GeKa

I'm not quite sure what happened here but I had an account under this username and a few days ago I checked and the username was changed to tahomatom. I tried to reset the password but nothing was sent to my email. Out of curiosity I tried to register again with my old username and email and it let me as if it never existed. All of the old posts I made are still there. I submitted the contact form but I got no response.

Just wondering what happened to the threat titled "Unspectacular AS16 And ASCA" ? It there was an offending post could it have not been deleted rather than remove the entire thread or if the thread had run its course why not just lock it ? I am assuming that is what happened because when I click on it now there is a message advising that I don't have access.

Hi, The maximum size for images in a signature is 500 x 125 pixels. I'm trying to add an image which is 468 x 80 but it's not being shown. If I use a smaller image of 400 x 68 that is displayed. Why won't my larger image show when it's within the rules? It's a php file showing current weather at my location but can't see that being an issue.

Hi all, I am new to the forum and I hope someone can help me due to me running out of ideas on how to fix this issue. Here is the situation: 2 days ago I bought me the PMDG 737 base pack for my new P3D v3 simulatior after changing from FSX. I accessed the precisionmanuals from my work laptop and also payed the addon via my work laptop.
