Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Every time I go to a thread I'm presented with an option for viewing similar topics. How does one disables this? I tried the X and the cog wheel and it does not respond to any clicks.

I have had many problems with AVSIM forum since updating to iE11, which Windows Update did to me after rebuilding my system and installing Win7, For example, the QUOTE and SELECTIVE QUOTE functions did not work. The quoted text would not appear in the edit post window and the post itself would dissappear in the next session. I've lost multiple posts that I made in trying to be of assistance to other members. Today, I opened a 10-page thread and iE11 kept reloading the page. I was unable to use access the thread. I have installed FireFox (33.0.2) and it is working as expected. I had no problems with iE9. Hi all, I've just served the waiting period for new accounts and have been reading the terms of service and the signature rules. I understand that my responsibilty is to obey the rules, I understand that Avsim is not a democracy and that it is run by a three person board of directors (unless I've misread postings over the last few days) and it is to these three that I would like to appeal for a change in policy. Avsim is apparently the biggest flightsim site on the net and as such has outlined the responsibilities of it's users in the manner it sees fit however it is my belief that with great power comes great responsibility. Laptops have improved to the point were I think I can stop using desktops. This is analogous to phone landlines being replaced by mobile cell phones. I'm specifically interested in tip on how to run FSX on the latest Intel integrated graphic chips. Is there a laptop forum? Thanks.

Hello, I´d like to say a big thank you for AVSIM staff for accepting back to foruns. After used CCleaner in my PC, for three days everytime I tried to sign in AVSIM foruns comes a message that I could be spammer, or something. I was advised by staff to send a message to Honey Project Spamm and 2 days later I could sign in AVSIM foruns again. Thank you.

I feel I have been poorly treated by a particular member of the Avsim staff. Anyone who reads any of my postings can decide for themselves if I am the unreasonable kind. In this case I feel the staff member was unreasonable but there is nothing I can do about that other than to think it is a shame as I quite like Avsim and am a regular contributor. So it is with regret that I ask that my account be deactivated. I know I will not be missed, I'll try not to let the door hit me on the way out.

Hello team, suppose the vast majority of my PM conversations is gone. TBH I don't look at them often, but neither do I recall having deleted them all. I wonder if there was some kind of a forum reset in between? Just wondering, as there was quite a long list of conversations for sure in the past.

Hello everyone. I just returned to AVSIM recently from a stay away and wanted to look up my previous posts but cannot locate them although they are listed on my profile. I used the search tool but it comes up empty. Anything I can do to locate them? Thank you for your replies.

I am often finding response times on the forums very slow between about 0800z and 1000z. So slow that they time out. Can anything be done to improve this situation? At other times, responses are fine.

I seem to have lost all of the links/shortcuts that use to appear under the AVSIM banner like: Forums; view new content etc? If I click on the AVSIM banner they pop up for a nano second then disappear again? I have searched, looking for a way to turn them back on to no avail. Have I done something inadvertently? I went to the avsim front page today and the button to sign in briefly flashes and then is gone. I had some trouble finding a page that finally gave me a sign in button. I've bookmarked the login screen now, since I am not sure I know how I even managed to navigate there to get it to appear. Now, when I'm on the forums, when I first load a new page I see the typical icons for PM, Profile view and the rest flash briefly, but then they go away and are replaced with the "File Library, Latest Library Additions, Subscribe to Library List..." bar, but there is no way for me to access other details of my account, such as PM. The state my head is currently in, it could already be staring me in the face, but is there an Avsim forum link to read all or any new posts since last visit, regardless of which thread? The issue: The FSX main forum, other than separate support forums for certain devs, used to collect all the information, heads-up messages and "what do you think" type of threads concerning well FSX (addons). Hello For the last 3 days, when attempting to access the Avsim Forums, I've been receiving the message: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /forum/121-ms-fsx-forum/ on this server I heve been registered on the forums for several years, and haven't seen this error message before, but receive it even when logged in on the Avsim site. In order to send this message I've logged into the forum using a different wifi network so I presume the problem is IP related. Best regards Mike

I noticed this when trying to log into the forums on my phone and couldn't. When I got back to my desktop I thought I'd change my password to something I'd better remember. I found once logging off I could no longer log on. So I went through the process of requesting a new password which worked. When I tried to change the password to something other than the long version that was sent to me the system would not let me do it. I kept getting either 'All fields weren't filled out' or 'Wrong original password entered'. First off the only fields that should be filled in is the password fields not the 'Change Email' fields. If memory serves, on the old forum system you could insert an image - from your computer - into a forum post.Now the only option I see is to insert an image from a URL - which I assume means from a storage site such as Photobucket.Is that correct or am I missing the option to get the image from my computer? :Thinking: Thanks in advance for clarifying the process.

This is a new one on me. All of a sudden, when I attempt to answer a post, whatever data is in my clipboard gets auto pasted into the message. I don't know how I turned this "feature" on nor do I know how to turn it off. It only happens in the AVSIM forums. Any thoughts? Thanx, Vic

Is there any way of hiding those FSX-SE tags?

Did the font on the Avsim forums change? Seems like it to me but wondering if its my computer settings or the forums themselves. Only complaint is that now FSX looks like F8X.

I can add forum.avsim.net to tapatalk but login is not possible, is it working for anyone?
