Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Hi there. Does anyone know why I am very often unable to get onto the AVSIM forums via my mobile phone? My Samsung S4 uses the unlimited internet package that comes with my contract. It connects via HSDPA/3G or sometimes Edge. At the moment my telephone displays: "FORBIDDEN" "you dont have permission to acces/forum/520-pmdg-777/on this server" Other times it tells me I am a hacker or something like that?? But if I log on with my mobile phone to my home wireless network, then all of a sudden all is fine. Then I am allowed and no hacker no more?? Same thing happens with my ipad. Is there any chance the mobile version of AVSIM forums could have a couple of additional navigation buttons added? At the moment we can page forward or page back in a topic but there's no way to go to the first page or last page directly. In very long threads this means you have to repeatedly touch page forward or back, and have no indication of what page of the thread you are on. If page loading is slow this can be a long and frustrating process. So a first page and last page button would be very welcome. Kevin

I notice some posts have the options bar for Like, Dislike, Agree, Disagree, etc. just above the signature line and others do not. Is there a way to get that to open or is there some other criteria that determines when it is available?

For some reason, my sig image no longer displays. The url is correct as I can access it directly or through other forums. I've been using it for quite a few months now w/o issue. I tried reinput and save but still does not display nor show in the preview. Any thoughts? thanx, Vic

Guys, Seriously this site is so slow that it is virtually unusable. What is the problem? It has been like this for weeks now. I really love Avsim but something has to be done to fix this.

Hello All my sites,whether flightsim or otherwise open in desktop mode,the exception being Avsim.It always opens in mobile mode and has to opened again via the link at the bottom of the page to display in Desktop view Its a bit tedious .If Avsim is slow to load on a certain day it can be VERY slow if you have got to do it twice. I've created a few right click menu shell extensions for one click disable/ re-enable of .BGL files. They're just simple registry edits, but they're based on a bit of not regularly known (or easy to find!) information. As I've found them to be extremely useful in turning on/off .BGL scenery files either for testing of my own scenery, or tweaking other 3rd party scenery for performance, I'd like to write a short n' sweet tutorial for the technique. My apologies if this was addressed elsewhere. I cannot open the link to Library and/or Contact Us on Avsim's main forum page (http://forum.avsim.net/index.php?app=ccs&module=pages&section=pages&id=2). In fact, if I hover over each menu item, the path will display on the bottom-left of IE or Chrome, except for the two above items. Any idea?

When trying to add FSX or other RSS feeds, I get an error in my reader (my.yahoo.com or netvibes.com) that there's no feed there. I put in this url http://forum.avsim.net/rss/forums/3-ms-fsx-forum/, I tried even just going to /rss and it still says no feed there. Yet, that url loads ok and appears to be on in my browser / Chrome/FF. I can see messages and formatting appears to be ok.

Hello, I read through the picture embedding tutorial in the screenshots forum but when I try to create a post using the IMG tags I get this message: "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." This seems to be caused by the fact that when posting full-size pictures from photobucket, it uses the file extension .jpg~original rather than just .jpg. If I edit the link so the file extension is just .jpg it will post fine, but it will be a resized picture instead of the full-size picture. Is there anyway that Avsim could allow the use of this longer file extension? Or maybe other photobucket users have found a way around this? Many thanks

Apparently I have been hanging out with the wrong crowd. When I try to access the Member Review forum, I get a message: Your group is not allowed to browse the review database. Contact the forum administrator for details. Did I do something bad? I know my two reviews are not the best in the world, but ... Thanks for the assist! JKH

Topic title says it all. Yesterday I came here and every single section of the forums was suddenly expanded and whenever I click the '-' to collapse a section... it doesn't do it.

Hello! Since yesterday I can't access the forum via Tapatalk app in iPhone. There are any problem?

If I wanted to use an image that has been posted to this forum, how do I go about getting permission to do so? It would be for marketing purposes for an FBO.

Why is it that every few weeks, when I try to log in to the forum, your system has lost my details. It's becoming quite irritating having to obtain a new password in order to reset my usual one. jbee

After this last round of forum 'adjustments' I now cannot paste a link into a reply, even though I can paste the same link everywhere else. Is this by design now or a bug? Thanks

Just a quick suggestion.. When I connect to the either the main page avsim.com or the forums, the first thing I always do is scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Full Version button. I do the same when accessing the forums. Would there be any way that this preference could be saved as a cookie - like the logon information so I don't need to wait for 2 full pages loads each time? I suddenly found two problems that were suddenly OK. The lists of the threads I participated in missing is not shown and the list of latest threads is not shown also. The new threads don't show plain tasks and don't show Bold, Italic etc formatting

I am having trouble adding a banner using IE 11. I have also tried compatibility mode. Under IE 11, I enter the URL and the dialog box just freezes. I can't select "ok" or "cancel". So nothing at all happens. I then tried compatibility mode to add a banner to my signature but the icons are all gone? All I can do is enter some text.
